@@RubyDoobieScoo Exact same here 😂 Between that and seeing him as High Sparrow I just genuinely assumed he was a bit of a stern fellow, but he's clearly wonderful.
The bit about him and Anthony Hopkins is great. I love how old *bRiTiSh* actors are so lovingly bitchy with each other. Just like Maggie Smith and Judi Dench lol (or Maggie Smith and Ian McKellen😂)
I completely agree! BUT! Correction: They are both Welsh. (As someone explained it to me when I made the same mistake, all people from the UK are British, but only those from England are English.)
Brazil - is still one of those movies if you consider yourself a movie nerd you have already seen Brazil. 1985 but even the movie nerds of the 1990's and early 2000's this was a must-watch (pre and early internet). The third act is still stellar 40ish years later. Sir Pryce puts on a masterclass in acting and I do not type this lightly.
I didn't even know that after I watched him last night & haven't seen that movie in a long time either actually. I'm kind of surprised Seth didn't say about him in Pirates of the Caribbean & also The Wife he did. 👍
Also about his "feud" with Anthony Hopkins... He said that after they did Two Popes, Hopkins would sign his e-mails as "Sir Number Two" because Jonathan was not a Sir (but now he is).
People sometimes leave him out when they talk about the amazing ensemble cast of Glengarry Glenn Ross. It's a subtle, quiet, and very fine performance.
He worked under Terry Gillam in 'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen' Comedy he is a critic to theater performances. For people who never saw this but like Monty Python you will like this. One of my favorite films that I watch over and over. Jonathan is marvelous as the villain.
In Britain we’ve seen a lot of Jonathan on our teles and radio too. So we’re no strangers to his great acting. The first American film I saw him in was one with Whoopie Goldberg.
so glad you mentioned his amazing work in Brazil alongside a young DeNiro. Hopefully at least one person watches the Terry Gilliam classic just because of that. a bit weird but worth the watch!
This man is also good at playing villains as well. He was a good Bond villain. Also the IRA terrorist in Ronin. Who also remembers him in What a girl Wants? He looked evil what that goatee.
This gentleman is a great actor. Unfortunately I not seen a lot of his work recently. I can not wait to see Slow Horses. To me his best role was in Brazil.
'Fraid so chum; suffocated in a deluge of Mammon and burgers. (I was going to attempt Edwardian language but it's late, and as you can plainly read: I'm very tired)
He plays Kiera Knightley’s dad in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Great actor, if he’s in the show or movie that you’re watching, it’s a sure sign it’s gonna be a good one.
Cinematic treasure, this interview made me laugh so hard, it’s fun to find out a great actor is a real person. RIP Mr. Pryce’s chihuahua.
I had no idea this gentleman was so hilarious. The perfect pairing with Mr. Meyers
I just assumed that he wasn't after he didn't laugh and Ricky Gervais' pope joke at the golden globes.
He played the Master in the Comic relief Doctor Who episode from the 90s written by Steven Moffat, he was so good
@@RubyDoobieScoo Exact same here 😂 Between that and seeing him as High Sparrow I just genuinely assumed he was a bit of a stern fellow, but he's clearly wonderful.
Be honest, how many of you know this great actor from his role in Brazil?
I knew him from Evita the movie
It's where I first heard of him. Just got the three-disc Criterion edition.
Pirates of the Carribean for me.
He is amazing in Brazil. Fantastic film.
First movie I saw him in and a bonafided masterpiece.
Down to earth, doesn’t take himself too seriously. Great actor.

Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are buddies and they have fun.
To me, he will always be Mr. Dark (Something Wicked This Way Comes). Truly scary in that film. Terrific actor!
Absolutely. I was going to post the same thing. Love him in that. The scene in the library is so good
@@AgtDrakenot many young actors could go toe-to-toe with Jason Robards!
@@AgtDrake That scene was terrifying, and the scene where the kids were in the sewer and Dark was talking to Robards!
Amazing interview! I saw Mr. Pryce in Miss Saigon many years ago - I'm so glad that he didn't retire at 60!
Glad to see Pryce is just as sharp as ever, in contrast to his character on Slow Horses.
No joke, him playing that bond villain role is what inspired me to learn how to type one handed 😂
I'll always remember him as Elizabeth Swans dad in the Pirates movies. Great actor
Johnny Depp was such a big fan of him that his involvement was apparently a factor in getting him to do the film.
"Brazil"...one of the greatest films ever.
is it safe? 😷
I’ve had a bit of a crush on him since I saw Jumping Jack Flash.
Love him in pirates of the caribean movies, slow horses, and GOT. Great actor.
Incredible actor with such range. So many great roles.
The voice of Infiniti too 😉
He was extraordinary as Cardinal Wolsey in Wolf Hall.
The whole of Wolf Hall was fab!

I remember him dancing and singing in "Unconditional Love". Amazing actor.
The Goat is an amazing play. Perhaps my favourite play written in the last fifty years.
My favorite James Bond villain.
I didn't even know that after I watched him last night & haven't seen that movie in a long time either actually. I'm kind of surprised Seth didn't say about him in Pirates of the Caribbean & also The Wife he did. 👍
The man is a master storyteller. Take your hat off.
He played the master.
Opposite Lumley.

Great sense of humour
Very quick witted and funny.
Seth is the best interviewer. 💙💯👌🏽
Yay! He's such a lovely person 🎉❤ And I LOVE Slow Horses!!!
We love jonathan pryce
Me too - he comes from my home town and the accent takes me home
What a delightful, very witty man.
loved him since Brazil
I have loved him and his work since I saw him in Gilliam's film Brazil. He can do no wrong.
Someone excellent this way comes.
Saw 3/4 of Brazil a few weeks back and had the weirdest dreams that night. Wish I remembered them.
He worked under Terry Gillam in 'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen' Comedy he is a critic to theater performances. For people who never saw this but like Monty Python you will like this. One of my favorite films that I watch over and over. Jonathan is marvelous as the villain.
The Two Popes was an extraordinary film!
He's so funny & sweet, great guest.
The High Sparrow on Seth Meyers!
Thank you for that, because I was trying to remember who he played in that show.
"Brazil" remains my favorite. Though he probably wouldn't sit still for it, I'd like to spend 9 or 10 hours discussing that movie with him.
In Britain we’ve seen a lot of Jonathan on our teles and radio too. So we’re no strangers to his great acting. The first American film I saw him in was one with Whoopie Goldberg.
He has been in many musicals and played Peron in Evita ...RADA grad 1971
I actually laughed out loud at the typing bit. Thought no one would notice, but we did. 🤣
I've seen Jonathan Pryce in a variety of roles but he is far superior in bad guys characters 💙 He is a lovely man!
We love it when the Welsh talk about being Welsh on late night!
What a delightful interview!
Don't forget he starred in the original production of Miss Saigon (though not without controversy) and Cabaret.
A delightful conversation!
so glad you mentioned his amazing work in Brazil alongside a young DeNiro. Hopefully at least one person watches the Terry Gilliam classic just because of that. a bit weird but worth the watch!
Well I'd watch that play for sure.
Thanks Seth for highlighting Wales - from a Welshman - Pryce is underrated compared to Hopkins and Burton
Pryce in "Brazil" was chilling.
Wish this would have been longer ❤ great conversation
Thank you sir, for sharing your time here.
watching slow horses, Brilliant piece of acting.
I really enjoyed this interview. Jonathan is surprisingly funny and very entertaining.
Love this person, a lot.
He nailed Game of Thrones!
This man is also good at playing villains as well. He was a good Bond villain. Also the IRA terrorist in Ronin. Who also remembers him in What a girl Wants? He looked evil what that goatee.
This was fantastic!
The Queen and "the goat" story 😂😂😂😂😂😂
An international treasure
Low key still my favorite James Bond villain.
Nobody mentioned the musical: Evita. He played Peron .
Love that guy.
I knew I liked this guy just from his TV performances, LOL.
He's fucking incredible in Slow Horses.
Why isn’t Jonathan Pryce on every chat show all the time?
because he's got other things to do.
@@Dave1507 Fair enough. But presumably before you got your shot in you at least understood the sentiment I was trying to get across.
Well that was delightful..
that was lovely
Who remembers Jumpin Jack Flash? It was so bad it was so good
oh, the high sparrow himself!
Seth's hair's starting to look like vampire Mr. Burns, lol.
I've always been a fan of Pryce since Something Wicked This Way Comes.
This gentleman is a great actor. Unfortunately I not seen a lot of his work recently. I can not wait to see Slow Horses. To me his best role was in Brazil.
It might be the glasses (it certainly wasn't Pryce's voice) but at times I could swear I was looking at Woody Allen. 👓
Love him since Ronin
I feel like people tend to leave out one of his earlier roles with Whoopi Goldberg in the movie "Jumpin' Jack Flash," from the 80's (1986).
Known to me from Jumping Jack Flash!!
You missed his stint as a spy in “Jumping Jack Flash”
Listen kids, this man was in Carrington! One of the most beautiful movie about love I've ever seen. You'll always be my Lytton sir! 😊
I so hope that Queen story is true.
Lovely ❤
Well done for calling him ‘Sir’, you may not agree with UK titles, but he has one.
Great actor, slow horses is awesome. Fantastic interview.
What a girl wants!! 🎥
Could he play Bernie Sanders? He has the look down.
Since we are mentioning movies…
Ronin
"Delicious!"
.... Please! (hehehe we were all thinking it.)
BRAZIL!
It was a mistake to have Jonathan Pryce on and not mention Brazil and Something Wicked This Way Comes.
You couldn't mention Something Wicked This Way Comes?!

Tragic that Mister Bond had to win...
I for one approved of our Carver British Steve Jobs media overlord!
And that's what killed the queen.
The quality of the last generation of British people to ever exist.
Everyone here is just American now in all but name.
Plenty of British people exist in Britain. Pryce is not the last generation by any means.
