  • This video is about the lubricant oil change and coolant change/top-up in passenger cars. An internal combustion engine (IC engine) can not run without the lubricant and the coolant. The lubricant reduces friction and keeps wear to the minimum. It also prevents corrosion of the metal parts and provides damping effect to moving parts. The coolant ensures that metals and plastics do not melt or degrade due to the thermal heat that is generated inside the engine. Without the coolant, the metals of the engine can melt within few minutes. Coolant passes through the metal block of the engine and goes to the radiator where the heat is eliminated to the atmosphere. The coolant then flows back to the engine block. Hence, it is in a closed loop.

Good morning. In the video you present you make two important MISTAKES. 1. this engine is a K12b suzuki or oil capacity with oil filter change is 3.2 liters and not 4 liters put by your engineer. 2. The cooling system of all Japanese cars has a drain screw, it is the plastic butterflies at the bottom of the radiator. You do not empty the entire system of refrigerant, you leave the largest amount in it. And a third mistake, very important, you lift the car from one side only, wrong, so there is enough old oil left inside. These from someone who has been doing this job for 35 years. My advice is that you should be much more careful ...... If I were to grade you with an excellent 10 ..... Unfortunately I would put you very leniently 3. !!!!!

      Thanks for the comments👍
      1. Yes the engine is K series. Two 2 litre containers of oil were emptied with little left. Hence, in this model (2013 manufactured Swift DZire) the oil capacity should be more than 3.2 litre
      2. The coolant was not emptied, it drained out because of the hose change. You are right, coolant needs only top-up not changing.
      3. Thanks for the advice, I will ensure that we lift the car using two jacks on both side.
      Thanks for the grade🤦‍♂️✔

@@engineeringmaterials-tribo5142 Ok. All good. Also, something very important, always use a torque wrench, especially when the oil pan is made of aluminum alloy. For this: 3.5NM tightening torque. Always be well.

nice video, How engine oil, radiator and coolent in relate process .
pls upload more video, it will make people know about mechanic in car working in relate, at least if some problem exist we are people who didnt know about mechanic electrical etc will know about it
somehow someplace there are a bad mechanick that charger more and expensive than normal becouse we dont know anything about car problem
However your video give me a deep understanding how these issue and part of the car if problem and find the solution much easier and know what to do
    Thank for share
    waiting for next video

Thanks for the comments! Engine oil does the job of lubricating the parts of engine as well as cooling the engine parts. Coolant cools the engine body externally and the radiator cools down the coolant as it comes out of the engine body. Coolant never enters the engine (inside) but flows only outside of the engine.👍

No dreno el coolant por el tapón del radiador en la parte baja. El termostato va en la pieza q cambio?
Es así que se reemplaza el coolant?

Hello, is there a drain plug on the bottom of the radiator to drain the coolant as well?

also is the cooling system self bleeding when you put in the new coolant so all the air is out?

In how many km coolant should changed

Coolant does not need to be changed so often unless the level is down from the original. Just add to make up for the loss. However, if the level is going down so often then there is some concern of coolant leakage or excessive engine heating which can be serious problems.
