Theres no better way to catch pike than from the surface, i find i hook more if i dont strike at the take and just keep winding until i feel the fish then strike, easier said than done, especially when they strike out of no where, ask Jamie Murrey

Jacks love frogs, bigger pike loves rat. A tip, spro bronzeye popper frog. Such a good lure. Or SG rat with bend lip to be a wake bait. Had a 15.7 on the second cast, day after 4 big jacks 7 - 10 lb. So much fun
A buddy of mine once told me that with top water lures wait a few seconds before you strike, similar to dead baiting, get more hook ups then, I've tried it and it does work to be fair.

@@SnaggedBro Yes, I had a look and there are a few UK sellers, but they ain't cheap. The bigger version seems to be more attractive to pike, especially the gold and white version, but they both work. It can be fished right over heavy weed, but it can also be allowed to drop into holes and twitched, which is deadly.
Not gonna name drop the location but that 2nd pool, myth has it... the fishery up the hill used to discard all the pike they caught down the stream into the 2nd pool.
Pike is savage fish 🐟 🤣they are eating everything what is moving in front of them.... i had a lot success on a Savage gear Suicide duck.... and had from angling shop I had advice that I should try a rat 🐀 also pikes is going crazy for them....
