*WARNING: LONG REPLY AHEAD!!* Ikr! However, out of the two Dodgebolts, I think Grian's win was better. First of all, the scores were tied 2-2, so Grian HAD TO complete this 1v3 to win MCC. The Teal Turkeys, on the other hand, were winning 2-0, so his 1v3 was just a nice way to end the tournament. Second, the circumstances. In MCC 17, that round was the DEFINITIVE LAST round of the tournament. It is for all the marbles. In MCC 28, the Emerald Elves could've beaten Jimmy and continued the tournament, so Jimmy's winning round wasn't the definitive last one. Thirdly, the waiting and suspense. Both Grian and Zeuz waited a significant amount of time before firing. Concentrating. Aiming. Adding to the suspense. Ultimately, Grian won the final stand-off. Jimmy threw those snowballs quite rapidly, not really adding that much suspense to the round. Finally, the misses (and Suspense 2: Electric Boogaloo). Both Grian and Zeuz kept missing their shots at eachother. This made viewers unsure of when the round would end. Waiting patiently until "Orange Ocelots/Pink Parrots take the crown" appears on-screen. Jumpscaring the viewer, but relieving them of the tension. The ultimate satisfaction. Jimmy hit all his shots first try, depriving the viewers of the tension. Now, I DON'T think Jimmy's MCC 28 1v3 was rubbish. It IS amazing. Jimmy starting and finishing season 2 with a win (making it all come full circle), Jimmy finishing season 2 with a 1v3, Jimmy finishing season 2 with a 3-0 victory and Jimmy hitting all those shots first try are incredible feats that I could never achieve, but personally, I find Grian's MCC 17 1v3 the better out of the two.
I think what Jimmy meant was that Yes, we will see more 1v3's in the future, despite it's rarity, you will never see another 1v3 that was as tense as this, never had the odds been so stacked against one man, never before were the stakes so high, never before had such a match been so tense, and never again will we witness such a comeback
@@5406_yseehC Add that to Grian having never one before, so the personal stakes are higher (whereas Jimmy won in MCC 14), and the rooting for both sides (it’s the Simmers as well). but Jimmy’s was super impressive in its own way as well, it was so cool to see, and he hit the shots SO accurately

I know I’m late but, not even just factoring in his first win. Grian just the last MCC made it to dodgebolt finals and ultimately lost that final. I don’t remember exactly but I do believe it was really close and it came down to the wire for him in one of the rounds. That one the nerves got to him. So seeing him in a similar situation the next MCC and winning makes it so much sweeter as it was such an anticipated event!
"Everyone going insane" yeah, making multiple hundred thousand people all around the world scream is pretty insane, but how could anyone *not* be on the edge of their seat witnessing such an extraordinaryly exiting dodgebold finale? (this compilation is proof)
The best part is that one guy from my MCCR application team is a big hermit fan and he’d avoided the internet on MCC day since he couldn’t watch until later. So us other three were spazzing right after the event. And then late at night he comes in going ballistic in the best way because he just so happened to choose Grian’s pov so he could have some “chill” vibes before going to sleep. It was incredibly hilarious.
No but a different friend from my MCCR application has since trained Owen on all the tips and tricks for Terra Swoop Force so that Owen can stay ahead of CPK in the TSF speedrunning. Which is very amusing.
Phil, Wilbur, and Solidarity were my favorite povs for this. They were all so invested. I think I was laughing more with them than even actual Grian’s pov.

Honestly the best. I am glad someone was still actively cheering for the simmers/pink throughout. It made it all the more entertaining. Like Sylvee rooting for Red vs Captain Sparklez in MCC 15 before Wilbur joined her. Plus, fruit and Illumina both definitely wanted to see a Grian win in prior MCCs, so I’m sure they were happy that if they had to lose it was so Grian could win.
Geez I can’t imagine. One of my friends hadn’t been able to watch it live and I was SOOOO pleased when this hermit fan casually decided on Grian’s pov for a relaxing stream before bed. Because of course that’s not what he got.
The thing is, it wouldn’t have been anywhere near that cool unless it was unexpected. If Dream had done it- well, it was Dream. But Grian did so great!! I think the only way I would’ve been just as impressed is if it had been a player who doesn’t even have the same occasional pop offs that Grian does. Perhaps Rendog or Niki? Still, MCC 17 was Grian’s MCC for sure. Such a good one. (And Illumina is one of my favorites so I was hyped for fruitninja, but that 1v3 won everyone over and I was just as hyped for a potential Grian win anyway)

Oh gosh the collective heart attack we all had. We only get this level of insanity like every 4 events. MCCs 8, 9, 13, Pride, and 17 are the really insane ones to me.

@@jamhopsey yeah thats the argument he doesn't have the wins or experience other S tiers have, but I think he has the skills, to me the s tiers in order of best to worse are pete, techno, fruit, dream, Illumina, sapnap, punz, and then hbomb being s tier but with the h tier factor
I mean I love Grian, but he was up against fruit and Illumina. Both of whom have literally only won MCCs with reverse sweeps. So either way it was going to be an impressive sight, because we’re already used to seeing them be insane. I think Grian made basically everyone anxious and it was amazing😂

Grian is certainly a far better shot than most people realize, but if you think he’s good I’d highly recommend checking out FalseSymmetry or 5up with a bow. Their accuracy is insane. Both are easily on par if not better than most of the S Tiers with bows. It’s very satisfying.
The fact that everyone was cheering on still makes me watch this to this day. Just basically everyone cheering on Grian when Grian was having that 1v3 was so wholesome
Gosh I can’t even imagine watching the whole thing first from Grian’s pov without knowing the ending. It must’ve been absolutely wild. It was crazy enough from the pov I was on.
@@bluujjaay The real stressful thing is when you’re watching it from his POV about a minute late but you don’t want spoilers, but you also don’t want a heart attack so you’re warring between looking at the chat or not all while experiencing the actual Dodgebolt- (Ultimately I didn’t look at it and it was SO worth it.)
It’s hard not to be in a good mood. They were all just so happy about it. Even the people who were cheering for the (equally deserving and amazing) Simmers + fruitninja team. Jack Manifold notwithstanding.
I just have this match on repeat over and over again, it's seriously so scripted (not literally), tie game up to the last round, then Grian clutches a 3v1 win. Even the admins were cheering for him. I think everyone would've looked the other way if he decided to say one swear word lol, just like, oh what did he say something, I didn't hear? Also, what zeus said was also so true, I was watching their score from Grian's replay, and they went from 5th to 2nd, that was pretty cool, a good accomplishment in itself, even though the parrots didn't win in the end
They couldn’t have written a better script. Dodgebolt with long-time favorite Grian vs fruitninja and Simmers? Like. It was truly excellent. Everything about it was just plot armor and epicness. It was a wonderful event from all sides.

I think Techno was actually the first out, so it was Michael, Dream, and Burren, but he’s definitely known for getting the first 1v3. And Joel is fantastic, of course. They were both moments I included in my Top 10 dodgebolt plays video, because they were both amazing.

Awww thank you! And I completely agree. The sheer amount of plot armour Grian was rocking during this MCC was amazing. His whole team did amazing. SB also got his first win after all of his training and Pete came back with passion after a rough MCC 16. And False! First female to 3 wins. What legends. My word. Such a great MCC. I’m still so hyped whenever I think about it. I can’t wait to put together the full highlights for this one.
I love how supportive everyone was, even the people who were meant to be rooting for the other team. That was insane what Grian did, but I feel so bad for him. I can’t even imagine the stress he was under-the man deserved his win and his coin
My teammates and I from our MCC rising application all decided who we each remind each other of in MCC (attitude, not mechanics) and they said I was HBomb😎 and they were fruitberries, Smajor, and crumb (who hasn’t actually been in MCC before, but is the most apt streamer comparison for our Australian)
I love coming back and watching this when I need to smile. The energy from every person watching, how much this meant to Grian, how intense it was, truly the greatest dodgebolt finale MCC has ever seen and ever will see. Chefs kiss.
I remember watching this live my friends and I were watching it like the superbowl, in my living room. We were watching Ranboo’s pov so when dodgebolt happened everyone tuned out. But this moment got everyone (including myself) screaming! Even though they had no clue who Grian was they still celebrated to the extreme. Such a good memory

I have gotten back into mcyt about a month ago and Grian was one of the first (other than QSMP) I started watching. I can’t explain how watching this clip actually made me shake with excitement. Especially everyone’s reactions‼️😂
I remember watching this live and I was cheering him on, and when I saw him beet them i screamed with excitement, I was so happy to see him win when the match seemed impossible , I also loved when about everyone was cheering him on it was so nice.

This is the stuff they advertised in every single game of pro-bending in The Legend of Korra. I'm pretty sure the first episode had a game that followed this, almost beat-for-beat (if not that one, there was definitely a similar game in one of the episodes). Oh gosh the collective heart attack we all had. We only get this level of insanity like every 4 events. MCCs 8, 9, 13, Pride, and 17 are the really insane ones to me.

I mean I love Grian, but he was up against fruit and Illumina. Both of whom have literally only won MCCs with reverse sweeps. So either way it was going to be an impressive sight, because we’re already used to seeing them be insane. I think Grian made basically everyone anxious and it was amazing😂

Grian is actually god at aiming.
Grian is certainly a far better shot than most people realize, but if you think he’s good I’d highly recommend checking out FalseSymmetry or 5up with a bow. Their accuracy is insane. Both are easily on par if not better than most of the S Tiers with bows. It’s very satisfying.

I just have this match on repeat over and over again, it's seriously so scripted (not literally), tie game up to the last round, then Grian clutches a 3v1 win. Even the admins were cheering for him. I think everyone would've looked the other way if he decided to say one swear word lol, just like, oh what did he say something, I didn't hear?
Also, what zeus said was also so true, I was watching their score from Grian's replay, and they went from 5th to 2nd, that was pretty cool, a good accomplishment in itself, even though the parrots didn't win in the end
They couldn’t have written a better script. Dodgebolt with long-time favorite Grian vs fruitninja and Simmers? Like. It was truly excellent. Everything about it was just plot armor and epicness. It was a wonderful event from all sides.

I think Techno was actually the first out, so it was Michael, Dream, and Burren, but he’s definitely known for getting the first 1v3. And Joel is fantastic, of course. They were both moments I included in my Top 10 dodgebolt plays video, because they were both amazing.

Awww thank you! And I completely agree. The sheer amount of plot armour Grian was rocking during this MCC was amazing. His whole team did amazing. SB also got his first win after all of his training and Pete came back with passion after a rough MCC 16. And False! First female to 3 wins. What legends. My word. Such a great MCC. I’m still so hyped whenever I think about it. I can’t wait to put together the full highlights for this one.

I remember watching this live my friends and I were watching it like the superbowl, in my living room. We were watching Ranboo’s pov so when dodgebolt happened everyone tuned out. But this moment got everyone (including myself) screaming! Even though they had no clue who Grian was they still celebrated to the extreme. Such a good memory

I have gotten back into mcyt about a month ago and Grian was one of the first (other than QSMP) I started watching. I can’t explain how watching this clip actually made me shake with excitement. Especially everyone’s reactions‼️😂
I remember watching this live and I was cheering him on, and when I saw him beet them i screamed with excitement, I was so happy to see him win when the match seemed impossible , I also loved when about everyone was cheering him on it was so nice.
