Hello Rod Got certified as an open water diver, plus swimming with the Thresher Sharks, see a new world beneath the sea and having that wild experience. That's a big accomplishment and it prove that (It's more fun in the Philippines!) MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Loyd Bridges would be proud! You got more nerve than me. Give me a motorcycle and I'll rip wide open but below the surface I'll not go on purpose. However that doesn't stop me from totally enjoying your great adventure. I tip my hat to ya. You're the man! Happy Holidays!
LOL. I had a couple second thoughts about this during training but I am glad I pushed myself through it. I feel quite comfortable underwater with the equipment now but one needs to know their limits. I have rented a motorbike on Camotes Island for a few days and it was a blast as well. Thanks for watching and Happy Holidays to you.
Nice video piece and congratulations for getting out and doing the course and diving in. Impressive. We should have a visit sometime. I'm coming in to Cebu for Christmas dinner. I will be in the city Xmas eve, day and depart on Tuesday morning. FYI. I snorkel, I got PADI certified many moons ago and am thinking about doing a refresher and going at it again.
I am glad I finally did the course. There is so much to see under the water. My plan is to be out of town for a few days over the Christmas holiday. What part of the Philippines are you from? Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas Dave.
Myself & my wife got our Padi Open Water Certification at ''Harolds Mansion'' hotel & dive shop in Daumaguette for only (P12,000).We dived the world renowned Apo Island & they also offer trips to Oslob in Cebu to swim with Whale Sharks!.Underbelievable Value.
I visited a development just north of Cebu City a couple days ago and will add that in a day or so. I have walked into a few home/townhome type older developments here in the city and have not found any vacancies to check out. I think they are rented quickly in many cases. Thanks for watching Russell.
Nice video Rod as always. Happy to hear the threshers were only there for a cleanup and not for feeding although as a diver how would u know honestly. Does ur instructor or anyone carry a speargun just in case ? Be safe out there. Happy Holidays !
No spearguns. Thresher sharks, in particular, are not man-eaters. There is a place that has hammerheads as well and there is a little more danger there but still quite small. I have read that the large whale sharks near Oslob where they feed them have gotten aggressive on a rare occasion and head for an individual but very rare. Feeding them may have altered there normal behavior. Thanks for watching Danny.
Well its good you got your cert. but seriously, I have been diving for 30 plus years and @3;00 you state PART OF A MORNING AND PART OF AN AFTERNOON as you pool time? That is not near enough IMO... My NAUI coarse was 30 hours pool time 30 hours of class AND if you could not swim under water 25 meters you did not pass. Even at that level of schooling you still know nothing of diving persee. Now I have several hundred dives and I would advise you to only go one on one diving with some one who is in the field for a living. I would not go diving with you till you had a lot more experience and 50 plus dives, which is why it is NOT ALLOWED HERE to just rent tanks and you must go with an instructor... Diving is as dangerous as it is fun. I suggest you follow the rules and do a lot of reading and video watching to learn all you can. But nothing is going to prepare you for the dangers that are lurking under water but experience, so take it slow and stick close to your dive MASTER AT ALL TIMES... DONT LOOSE SIGHT OF HIM/HER EVER...! AND DONT PANIC, AS YOU ONLY GET TO DO THAT ONCE.! TOO MANY RULES YOU MUST KNOW... AND YOU DID NOT LEARN THEM IN A POOL IN ON DAY. GOOD LUCK AND NICE UPLOAD MERRY CHRISTMAS
Good points Michael. I have watched your video of the shipwreck dives and that was awesome. I have seen videos of foolish divers as well and pretty much feel the same way as you about novice divers getting in over their heads. Merry Christmas to all you. Have fun and stay safe.

Thanks for watching Sandy.

That sounds like a very good deal for the certification and I have heard before that Apo Island is good diving. Thanks for watching Wayne.
Merry Christmas Rod, glad the threshers are on a strict vegan diet
Merry Christmas Kent. The threshers are curious but not maneaters I was told. LOL.
Usually you have to do the advanced open water to dive to 30 meters
I was told that the 30 meters was allowed with an instructor at your side.
Nice one Rod. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you as well.
You are showing vertical condos in the Philippines you should possibly think about showing horizontal condos/Townhomes and such

I learned to dive watching Sea Hunt on TV. That was so long ago certification was not needed.
Manuel Hernaez lol. I remember Sea Hunt well and I too felt qualified to dive after watching many hours of the show. Lol.
