Got a large BGE and love it. By far the best unit for outdoor cooking. Crank it up for pizza and medium rare steaks seared to perfection. Dial it down for BBQ - pulled pork, chicken, ribs and brisket. Next, don't bother with the Eggnighter ...my first unit stopped getting hot after a month or so. Ace couldn't replace it immediately as it needed approval from BGE, but it was replaced under warranty and the same thing happened to the 2nd unit. Just use fire starters. Do get a probe type thermometer/timer that'll alarm you when the meat reaches its desired internal temperature. My BGE was a birthday gift from my wife that included a pressure treated pine table. When I came home it was already all set up so I never got the opportunity to seal the cart. After four years, it's now falling apart and I'm currently building my own. The large is a great size and you can cook 2 pork butts or a full brisket on a large. You can also cook a whole chicken with several racks of ribs. Any of these items is plenty of food to serve well over 10 people.

What to know before buying a Big Green Egg? Here's what to know: Go to Consumer Reports and find out the Big Green Egg finished LAST in their reviews and how Big Green Egg has been sitting on their hands while other manufacturers have been innovating and improving their Kamado cookers.
I have a green egg, had it for I guess ten years. I live my green egg, would never be without it. Don't bother asking have every accessory on the planet. Now that's that out of their way. I agree 100% been green egg have been sitting on their ass, doing nothing for too long. Kamado Jo has spanked green egg in the accessory department. I have a green eg pal has kam ko. Is there any difference in quality of what comes out? No I don't think there is. However, Jan ko have been great innovators. Great thing is all the toys from Kamado Jo fit my egg. Great thinking on their part....... selling to green egg owners. Crazy thing is green egg posted a vid saying don't be stupid, don't need a rotisserie for your green egg. Kamado Jo introduced it, sold like hot cakes. Great bit of @fun kit" Green egg? Having to pull their fingers out. New kids on the block. Lastly even super markets in uk don't "copy stuff" for the money......... it's great!!!
PS: CHECK W/YOUR LOCAL FIRE AUTHORITIES BEFORE YOU BUY THIS AS YOU MAY HAVE TO MAINTAIN IT NOT ON A WOODEN DECK, BUT RATHER ON A BRICK OR STONE FLOOR. ALWAYS REMEMBER FIRE REGS IN YOUR CITY FIRST BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO PREVENT ANY FIRES IN YOUR HOME.
That's insane the cost of these. For a 900 less you can be in a infared and be cooking in 6 mins. No charcoal bs and cooks quicker and have juicer steaks and burgers. Save your money and sear steaks like a steakhouse. These eggs are a fad and a way to sell you something you don't need lol.
$1000 for a grill. My smoker will out do this anyday. By the time you layout all the money for the grill and accessories you won't be able to afford the party.

Tvideo true. I was turned on by BGE but I bought a vision on clearance for $300. Add another $120 for accessories, which seems about normal.

Holy crap that's ludicrously expensive for some ceramic
damn not encouraging with a brand new egg with cracked fire box..
I’ll tell you what...
Taste the meat not the heat.

Well, I guess they've been "a fad" since the Chinese invented them 3,000 years ago - because that's how long people have been cooking on them.
Simple bye a Kamado joe
Heheh agreed

If that’s the case for you, you probably shouldn’t be throwing a party.
A grill/smoker that doesn't come with a rack? No thanks
