that's 1 way of getting them in the water. I'm from Fort Worth Texas. I've raced dirtbikes and quad sins i was 3yo. 16 now and getting in to stand ups. what do u thank is a good starter ski. I'm want a Yamaha Superjet or a Kawasaki sxr800. What is the ride difference's in a SN and RN superjet. Awesome video btw. Looks fun
Thanks Cody, Anything that gets you out on the water having fun is a good starter ski Kawi 650sx's are usually fairly reliable, can be found relatively cheaply, and are quite a bit more stable than a 550. That said, if budget allows for freestyle go Superjet, and if youre going to be a racer you'll probalbly want to look for a kawi 750 or an SXR. RN & SN Superjets actually have the same bottom deck, so the ride is extremely similar between the two. The main difference is in aesthetics. Checkout X-h2o.com when you get a chance, anythig you want to know about standups can usually be found there, just dont get side tracked by all the back flips and ski bling and start thinking you need a backflip hull and 1200cc motor to have fun. happy ripping!
Aaron Carmichael so true, i was looking at high comp heads, big bore kits, dry pipes and all the glitter even before I even got my superjet, drivetrain is bone stock and I still get arm pump after 15 minutes of riding, I cant imagine what the 200hp beasts would be like, probably rip my arms out.
cody mckinney if you’ve never rode a stand up then idk but if you’ve never rode a jetski then a good starter is a 550 or 550sx but I mean you do whatever you want
Jacob Kooistra thanks man! So do I lol, unfortunately I work way too much these days and don't get to ride much. Hopefully I'll get a new St Clair video out this year
Thanks man! Jet Skiing is pretty easy to get into. You just need a place to ride, a Jet Ski, a life jacket and whatever license your state requires. Save your cash and buy a reliable starter ski 👍
Is that near Harsen's Island? I ride a '96 Seadoo XP, and the lakes here are getting kinda small. lol I love the area around Harsen's Island and want to go out there, I've heard that it is really nice to ride. Just been a kinda cool summer and lots of weekend work, but still might make the trip this summer. :-)
Thanks, I just found it on the map. The north channel is what separates the town of Algonac on the mainland, from Harsen's Island. The channel is really long, and it looks like you guys were at the end towards Lake St Clair. I'm going out there Saturday to ride, supposed to be decent weather finally.
scootterpootter Cool, thats where this was shot. There's a rumor going around that some of my buddies may be out there this weekend. I'll probably be out there if they are. If you see a crew of stand ups feel free to stop and say whats up.
I ended up on the North Channel on Saturday, the waves were huge as I rode west from the Harsen's Island ferry, but as soon as i got to smoother water, my oil light came on, so I went back and tried to find some Seadoo oil, with no luck. I have a brand new engine, so I didn't want to take any chances with anything. Oh well, maybe we'll get another nice weekend before it's time to winterize them. lol
Sounds good to me, my girl and I rode Tawas Bay yesterday and had some nice 2-3 footers. Didn't get much good footage though unfortunately. As far as Wave Rave goes it looks Like our crew got motivated too late this year. According to x the campground is sold out. I have a suspicion that the manager is only allowing a certain number of cites to be used for wave ravers though. I've been in the past and when we had 100 skis in '06 that campground was nowhere near full. Just speculation of course and if the campground is booked up solid it should be a sick time this year.
Dude this is so awesome! Mad props man, we are heading out tomorrow and this just got me even more pumped. What are you riding if you don't mind me asking? My brother just bought two older j hull Kawasaki's but I'm addicted and want to get into it but this sport is scary expensive. Did you build your set up or buy it?
Hoping to get out there in the next month or so, we launch from a private lot, but I know there's at least one public launch just up the channel from where we ride from.
I've used both jet ski specific gloves as well as plain old fox riding gloves and have noticed very little difference between the two. But If you're riding in cold weather a good pair of watercraft gloves can make a slight difference. For summer riding rock whatever you're comfortable in!
Thanks for the quick reply. That really helps me. This fall I bought a js550 and I'm just trying to get some of the things I need together. I would really like to take it out right now, but I live in Wisconsin and we are spose to get almost 12 inches of snow tonight. Haha I guess that is my problem. You Georgia boys are lucky
+Andy Schwartbauer No problem, good luck with the new ski next year, I hope you have a blast on 'er, & my ski is in storage too... I'm no Georgia boy I'm a Michigan Man lol
+Jake baker There are lots of skis that will get you out on the water for a relatively small amount of money. the Kawasaki 550sx, 650sx, and most 750's can be found for relatively good deals. Id stay away from the js550 as they are notoriously unreliable. the Yamaha superjet "squarenose 650" is also a good cheaper starter ski. If you can spend a little more cash round nose superjets and Kawi sxrs are both great skis. Stick with Superjets for freestyle, and stay away from later model 750's as they are made as more of a race hull and arent as nice of a recreational ride as earlier 750 hulls (95 and earlier are the good ones 96 may be ok too). This is all just my opinion but i do have over 20 years of experience with ski's.
LOL! That's my Ski... I'll thrash it riding, but don't like throwing it in. Some of the other guys don't throw theirs either so I don't get abused too bad for that one
i have to admit, this is by far my favorite ski video ever!
Thanks!
I love that this is as fun as it looks 😍
awesome video. Got me wanting to go ride right now!
Thanks Bradley! I know how you feel, cant wait to get the season started.
Awesome video. Makes me miss summer even more!
Sold my jet ski this season. Wow this makes me regret it. Great video
General HowTo Thanks! There's always another ski to be found out there 😜
Aaron Carmichael guess what! Just got a stand up last week!! Will post a video on it shortly !

Amazing video, I wish you uploaded more frequently
Jacob Kooistra thanks man! So do I lol, unfortunately I work way too much these days and don't get to ride much. Hopefully I'll get a new St Clair video out this year
Aaron Carmichael that would be sick, I live in Michigan and have a js 550, maybe I would see u guys there sometime
Aaron Carmichael if I ever went to lake st Clair, usually go Lake Michigan

That's the North Channel I'm not sure how far Harsen's is, but I don't think it's too far.

Thanks Devin! I don't mind at all, my ski is a 2005 superjet with lots of goodies. A bunch of the skis that you see in the vid are yamaha fx-1's too
I built my ski with some help from some great friends, but yeah the parts were definitely a little spendy at times.
Great Video! Loved it! I wish I had one of these! It looks so fun!!!
Brady Official thanks!
Do you guys still ride there and where could a person launch?

so many fx1's!
Looks like a great day had by all. Got to lol at the 1 guy who wouldn't throw his ski in the water and used the lift. Bet you abused him for that :)
LOL! That's my Ski... I'll thrash it riding, but don't like throwing it in. Some of the other guys don't throw theirs either so I don't get abused too bad for that one
its Goooood Ride :)
Fx1 for life
Upvoated for not being10 minutes of the front of the jet ski
If you had a Kawasaki 1500 sxr you wouldn’t be able to throw it in with 2 people like that lol they weigh 1000 pounds they are too big
