Jal Mahal, summer palace built by Mohammad Adil Shah between 1627 and 1656 A.D. at Kumatagi tank, 10 km from Bijapur city (on Sindagi road), is a classic example of proper utilisation of available resources to protect the residents from the summer heat. The two-storey palace served as a resort for the royals. The ground floor of the palace has layers of walls with pipes running through them. Water used to be let into these pipes to ensure that the building remained cool even in summer.The water pavilions have a network of cisterns and fountains around them. On the walls of a pavilion one can see frescoes depicting a game of polo, a hunting scene and European envoys at the court of Bijapur king.The remains of an underground tank and pleasure pavilions can still be seen on the premises. There are also bath areas fitted with showers.
There are towers on the four sides of the palace on which security guards used to be posted.he present day Kumatagi village, 10 kms east of Bijapur on Sindhagi road, is known for an ancient summer resort. That summer resort was created by Mohammad Adil Shah between 1627 and 1656 CE.

Very nice sir. I have gone to this place. Our school was nearby in Kavalgi. I took my students to this place. That water valve was made of stone just like dosa grinding stone. No wind mills were there at that time. Some wall paintings were visible inside the room.

Please visit Gulbarga also which completes and complements the Bijapur trip series...actually Bijapur Bidar,Berar(maharashtra) and Golconda(Hyderabad) were ruled by Bahmani sultans from Gulbarga which was the capital before spliting up and becoming independent.

I could not believe that such a beautiful lake was built almost 400 to 500 years back and pulled the water to the palace by using some of best technologies of that period.

Dhakkani or Bahumani Sultanate was head quartered at Bidar after they split into 5 Sultanates - Adil Shahi, Khutub Shahi, Hasan Shahi, Ahmadnagar Khula Shahi and Bearar.
They came from Iran and Afghanistan

This is history karnataka and not Moghals.
Both are separate entity, Aurang Zeb captured all Dhakkani Sultans ou which, Adil Shahi, Bahumani and Barid Shahi Sultanates were in Bijapur, Gulbarga and Bidar respectively, all are in Karnataka.
