I don't even listen to rap but I'm from South Carolina and you're 100 percent right. This is old to us southerners. However, you have to understand that what they play where we are from is not played up north. I live up north now and never hear what I heard as constant radio music back home. The people from up here have no idea about this...it's new to them. People still are amazed by project pat's old stuff which I like...and they think the beats are revolutionary. smh.
Lunice has been doing this for a while now. And it's not the fact that people are just hearing it now, it's that it has finally hit some mainstream lime light.
It's funny how popular trap is now. I'm from Atlanta & we have been doing this sound for 10+ years. (TI's Trap Muzik is over 10yrs old now) Do you really think southern rap has been popular for the lyrics...? lol
It''s weird to think, within the same ONE mixtape, "That's one of the hottest beats I have heard in years (36:13)"... then think to myself later "I can not imagine how anyone in the world could like this kind of music." Again. In the same mixtape. To each their own I guess. Parts of this are amazing. The bright points of this thing are very very bright. But most of this bored the ever living fuck out of me.

if people enjoy it doesn't matter who knew it first or where it came from you should be happy a genre you like is becoming popular. Now if it becomes commercialised like dubstep did and ruined than yeah i get where your coming from.
