    Thanks for your AtGames 4K Pinball game assembly videos, and also this SSF kit install video. It took me and my friend about an hour to install the SSF kit, despite accidentally putting the playfield screen back in inverted, and swapping the plugs for two of the exciters (revealed on the audio tests). Those were both easy fixes. I appreciate your careful instructions, plus AtGames thoughtful design with colored and labeled tags for easy connections. The SSF kit really makes the audio richer, fuller and more crisp. Bringing it closer to a real pinball experience. However, the SSF kit did highlight the Addams Family lag, as there is an obvious delay between the solenoid click and the corresponding SSF sounds. I can understand why AtGames separated the SSF kit to keep the base price lower, but I am very glad that I spent the extra money on the SSF kit.

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Very welcome Dean, thank you for watching! One hour is the best timing I've heard so far, great that it went relatively smoothly for you. The latency in Addams is discussed here, if you're interested: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k/#Legends_Pinball_4K_Latency (see yellow area for a video demonstration). While it's improving, it's still not where it needs to be. AtGames and Zen have this as their #1 priority to resolve.
      There will be an update to correct some micro-stutter issues with the non-Zen tables on the 20th of this month. What I found interesting is that none of the micro stutter issues were evident in earlier builds I tested (all tables shown here played very smoothly with no stuttering: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k/#Table_Game_Play ). It appears to have been something introduced on release. Once I noticed it, I immediately informed AtGames of it.

    Brilliant instructions. I followed this to install the SSF into my 2nd machine, since my first one came factory installed. Everything worked perfectly. I was able to install it without removing the glass or the main display. It was quite a bit more difficult, but I didn't want to risk breaking important parts. Thanks again Jon!

    • @travis-n-joy
      @travis-n-joy หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I installed the Sub from the back with the access panel removed. I had to remove a couple of plastic pieces at the top and manuever around the PCB cabling. But with a little bit of patience, it slid right in. The two boards I could easily install from the back panel. The speakers I could install from the back panel and with the front control panel removed. It took a lot of patience to do, but it was doable. I have long arms.

    Instailling the exciters.. I see the AtGames image shows the D/E pointing the cable towards the back. But when you install them, they are pointing down it appears.
    Then you say to rotate 90 degrees for the back ones. Just use the image in the instructions and front point backwards and the back rotate 90 degrees to point down?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just use the orientation from the PDF for D&E, yes. It doesn't matter the speaker is round so there wouldn't be any difference in sound. But, to keep things consistent with the PDF, I mentioned it there.

    Does the ssf kit also work in otg? So fx3 or popper works through machine speakers? Or does that need dedicated speakers?
    Do you think $350 ($450 installed) is a worthy price? I have a preorder for $450 installed, but wondering if I should cancel that if we can piece parts ourselves. I'm also wondering if the ssf is sole proprietary, meaning we just can't piece together our own. Perhaps the atgames amp has a firmware designed for it 🤷‍♂️

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The SSF kit can work over OTG, yes. But, it's dependent if the pinball application itself supports SSF. I personally think that the SSF kit is well worth the price, if you ask anyone who installed it themselves or had it pre-installed what they think, I've not yet heard one person state they wish they didn't get it (see comments here for confirmation, if needed). The kit comes with two custom boards, not saying you couldn't piece together your own, but it would likely be cheaper and better integrated going with the AtGames SSF kit. There are a lot of things involved, the firmware is a component as well as SSF support within the Legends4K format. If you install it yourself, you can save some $. If this video scares you, order it pre-installed. If it doesn't, you can save $100. Totally your call.

    • @Roadsurfer2k11
      @Roadsurfer2k11 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @WagnersTechTalk thank you greatly. Ultimately, I did get the ssf kit and went ahead with pre-installed. If I were to buy the kit later on, we're subjected to $30 shipping, so $430 compared to $500. I could've installed it as my work background was machinery maintenance and over 30 years building pc's, , but I just opted to have them do it. I believe when I preordered the AFM back in December, one factor was you got the full year warranty on the ssf kit if pre-installed. Where-as if added seperate, it's only a 90 day. I also thought about just getting kit off nod sale, and last one had it $50 off, but with the $30 shipping, it's sort of iffy on waiting for mediocre savings.
