Please go for the cab it's easier and convenient this way. Some places to go by local day to day cab, it tough, either you won't find it or it'd same as over-all tour (per day price).

Yes june july gets torrential rains and may affect your Trip so better to go post monsoon.

No, it's not a good idea to visit this place in monsoon as it may get torrential rains during monsoon which can ruin your whole travel plan.
