    I was on a Treasure Seekers shell tour in May with Sarah as our shell expert. It was a glorious time with lots of lovely treasures. She found many little lovelies which she shared amongst the tour group. I look forward to the day when I can go back to SW FL from PA & join another great shell tour.

    After hurricane Francis & Jean hit the East coast of Florida (2 weeks apart) we went to the beach. I carried about 40lbs of shells a mile or two back to the truck with a mesh bag I brought. Scored about 12 volleyball sized conch shells, a handful of baseball sized ones + many smaller shells. I gave some away but still have 2 really nice ones and about 4 decent ones. I've lived here since 1985 and it was a shell fest of a lifetime!

      Most of the stumps were “dead” before Hurricane Ian. These barriers islands have been damaged by several storms over the years. The root systems of our mangrove trees are awesome though! They stay in place and hold the island together, preventing erosion. Also…they catch the seashells!!

    Prayers from Alaska! Question…how can a person like me know the difference between a banded tulip and a true tulip? I’ve never shelled anywhere other than in Alaska.

    • @treasureseekerstours
      @treasureseekerstours  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! A good indicator is the True Tulip has a texture to it whereas the Banded Tulips are smooth. Also, there is a color difference; Banded Tulip are mottled with defined and obvious stripes whereas the True Tulip is usually vibrantly one color. True Tulips can also grow much much larger than Banded Tulips.

      David, thank you for your feedback and concern for our community. We considered the timing of the video with care and decided to post it in light of the hurricane impacts. Shelling provides a great many people in Florida and worldwide mental therapy and relaxation and in this time of stress for our local community, we hope it brings a few minutes of simple peaceful shelling joy. Several of our guests since the storm have commented that they are so grateful for the opportunity to be out on the islands just to give themselves a few hours distraction from the situation brought on by the storm. We hope our virtual shelling is received this way as well and can be a blessing to our fellow shellers who may be going through so much right now. Stay safe and be well.
