I think 13 is a pretty common age for the realization of ones sexuality to hit, at least you’re gay. I think I had inklings at 12, but then the realization at 13, followed by many years of the attempt to deny it or get rid of it. Good for you that you accepted it at 17; I’m of a very different generation, and it took me more than 10 years past that to finally accept it in myself.

Imagine being a teenager in the late 1960's early 70's and being gay. Talk about having to be in the closet. No cell phones, internet to even try and meet someone like your self. Lucky for me at age 16 I met another guy from my school that was the same age. I was working part time at a fast food restaurant and he was a new hire. We went out for coffee one night after our shift and once in the car looked into each other's eyes and started kissing passionately. That was the beginning of a two year affair until we graduated and a few months even beyond that. It sadly ended because he was having issues dealing with the true reality of the situation. Looking back I was so glad to have been able to have the experience and had my High School boyfriend so to speak. Two years of hot passionate love and sex that I will never forget.
Well the late 60s and early 70s was the most economically egalitarian time in our country's history. Back then, gay teens who were disowned could easily rent an apartment on minimum wage. Today's disowned gay teens are living on the streets.
I was in high school in the 80's I had no one to talk to, I was teased and called names, it was rough, I wish I could say high school was a lot of fun but it wasn't at all, but i survived
I never can to a point of realization. I just naturally grew into my sexuality during puberty. I can’t wait for the day that we don’t have to “come out”.
I come from a time where we were pretty much expected to strip down, and shower.... only my class had a whole lot of bullies. I was most certainly not a popular kid, so that was a major danger point, for me. There was no way I was stripping down in front of all the bullies. Ironically, boy scout camp seemed to be a place where modesty was simply not there....everybody pretty much accepted people walking around camp in their underwear, etc. ...You could swim in your briefs, and nobody would say anything (actually, thinking back on it, I think I got a few passes, and a few guys flirting with me, because I swam in my tighty whiteys, back then). and even though there were guys flirting with me, I really didn't know how to deal with it, or really what it meant...

Only when I fell in love at 16 (spurned), did I awaken to the physical attraction of other men. I was sexual at 17. Thankfully, 1,5 year ago (I'm 27 now) after 13 years, I accepted my homosexuality and I came out to some of my friends and family and even though my parents are not so happy about it, my coming out gave me so much power and confidence! Basically, I'm learning how to not give a shit, hahaha. And it was so nice for me to listen in one of your first video about your coming out. I wish, one day it will be so easy to be gay, bi, trans or whoever in Poland like in US. Actually, all this coming out stories on TH-cam encourage me to record my coming out story and put it on TH-cam. There were these 2 kids in 6th grade that would always go super hard on spirit week and come in shirtless or full body paint. Not to mention they would prank and date each other to do weird shit like take of their clothes and let me tell you I wouldnt be able to stand up in class with these two. And also gym class I had to stop myself from staring

I struggled with the feelings for decades before I fully accepted myself as bi. But I know I'm way more gay. I have way less attraction to women (now) than men. I've also never actually had sex with a woman. I tried once, but certain things wouldn't work at the time. In my mid-fifties, I might finally have my first boyfriend soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Most importantly countless gay kids would gain a sense of well-being knowing that these feelings are universal. I'm 76 and we didn't have computers. No TH-cam and no cell phones. People were much more isolated, so In high school I thought I was the only gay person in the world. Hell, we didn't even have the word "gay" yet. (I'm one of the gay founding fathers.) People were much more isolated, so In high school I thought I was the only gay person in the world. Hell, we didn't even have the word "gay" yet. (I'm one of the gay founding fathers.) So thanks for this video. I hope a million kids see it.
