Since they're bringing up Jordan, which had nothing to do with a trade, I think the Magic Johnson retirement because he contracted HIV was the absolute shocker that shook the league for years. No contest.
He’s literally a top 3 player in the world who just took them to the finals and is a 1st team all nba every single year. This is an embarrassing trade. Idc if he’s chubby or not.
No defense, ball hog, great shooter, great passer, but he cries to much about fouls. He didn’t want to be told to take better care of his body. So he gets his own body-people, after mavericks fired their body-people who would not give him enough tough-love. He was looking at a huge contract and took for granted he would get it…and he didn’t!! If he’s a better defender they may-well have beat Celtics. Dallas has to hope though, that AD is consistent.

I think this will be good for Lebron if he decides to stay next season. It could be another feather in his cap if he manages to turn Luka into a physically fit, less injury-prone player who puts in consistent effort on defense. The two things are linked cus you need to have ur fitness right to play good defense consistently. Dwayne Wade did the same for Lebron in terms of teaching him leadership skills and how to win.
The NBA as a business is losing !!! They need their biggest NBA ICON to play for their BIGGEST FRANCHISE to save the league. Luka is a GOAT level PLAYER !!!! This trade was taken by ADAM SILVER 💯 The Mavs just got robbed for the greater good of the league!!!!
This is about nba business, tnt gets dropped for Amazon global distribution and lakers get another golden child superstar handed to them, wemby even got some help for cheap, the top players aren’t even American, getting the picture yet
Wow, this guy should join MENSA. Surely only a genius could figure out that superstars on the Lakers is good for league business... Idk how you haven’t been made commissioner yet. Lebron has a no-trade clause. Only he and Bradley Beal have one in the entire NBA, which goes to show just how rare they are. To get a no-trade, a player must have 8 years in the league, have 4 years with that team, and must be signing a new contract, not an extension. So there are hurdles to jump through -- before you factor in the fact it's a hard "no" from almost all front offices for almost all players who do qualify. Seeing crazy trades like this remind me of why no-trades are both so coveted and so rarely handed out.
Ive never seen a superstar so openly fat shamed by his organization and their mouthpieces on his way out like this Instead of being talked about like its talked about by non media people as a stupid as hell trade by the Mavs
@poppystars9005 He's not being fat shamed? Got it. Nico had nicer words to say about Maxi Kleber than Luka who's an icon that people probably named their kids and pets after. They spat on him on his way out. It's just what Dallas does.
People automatically think the Lakers won this trade. Maybe they did, but I live in Dallas. Luka’s a great great talent. But he outworks nobody on his team off the court. Mavs got killed in the finals. Most Great players spend the offseason obsessed with coming back trying to correct their weaknesses. What does he do? He eats half of Eastern Europe. The greats like Magic, Bird, Jordan, Dirk, Kobe, and James are just wired differently. Luka’s not wired that way and they knew it. They tried to motivate him, and none of the guys I listed never needed anyone to motivate them. It’s that simple.
Too soon to break up Dallas after their first deep playoff run last season....gotta let them play for a couple more years, and see if they can improve on that showing.
The "Win Now" argument is a deliberate distraction to detract from the commercial truth. This was a shady deal and money was exhanged behind the scenes between the Lakers and Miriam Adelson. She does not care about basketball. Its all about backdoor money and Nico Harrison has been told what to say and to be the fallguy who will be paid for taking the heat of this awful trade.
Magic would play fast and was always ready. Luka is fat, arrogant and plays at a turtle pace. There is NO comparison between the 2 other than their height
I don't think Luka and Lebron can co-exist. They are basically the same player. Ball-dominant wings that need the ball in their hands to thrive and aren't suited to play off ball to stand behind the 3 point line and play catch-and-shoot. It's Westbrook trade all over again.
Joe Nobody bring fans to LA, the Lakers are the Cowboys of the NBA. They will be relevant regardless of who is on the roster. Name me another play in team that gets more attention then they do every year?

I’m willing to bet my life savings that this trade happened solely because the new owners don’t want to pay that Super Max. Nico just came up with that out of shape narrative to give them something to talk about that wouldn’t shame the owners lmaooo
Luka's reported for the preseason the last 4yrs in a row overweight & outta shape & had to use the preseason & 1st part of the season to get in playing shape. I'm not a Lebron fan but he's 40 & has abs/6pk. Luka's never once been in that kinda shape
Luka probably has a drinking issue. That would be my guess. Payton and Kemp went to the finals in 96, Kemp was traded in 97. Right about the time he ballooned up and drank himself silly. Sucked he was one of my favorite players. Prior to the trade he was second team all nba three years strait, so a top 4 forwards in the league. The Sonics knew what was up. He was never the same player. I hope Luka excels with a change in venue and loosing out on 125mill, he’s obviously awesome.
This doesn't help the Lakers. They just traded their only rim-protector for a guy who plays no defense. And offensively, this is no different than trading for Westbrook. Both Lebron and Luka need the ball in their hands to thrive. Neither guy is comfortable playing off the ball and neither is a catch and shoot guy. So I'm not sure why the Lakers make this deal. I get that they are thinking about life beyond Lebron, but this makes no sense unless they've decided to trade Lebron as well.
If another organization had done this trade. Like Kings. Kings would be the butt of all jokes. 😅. Mavs have been able to build a great narrative thanks to their pr staff and the tv personalities.
