@@WebCamParrot For me it seems that this wasn't only the matter of growing up. He was corrupted by the feelings of lost, resentment, disconnection, being not enough. Sometimes "heroes" have to pay a a great price to save others. Sometimes the price is to high and the events leave a persons soul shattered.
People don't need heroes and superpowers, people just need fellow humans.

For me, at the first reading, I had viewed the moment when Conner says "don't call me Superman. Call me Superboy" as a callback to his first appearance.
It does work that way too! Just a really great scene overall honestly.

His display of power and impressive feats is one of the reasons why I like him, and is a fan of his; his descent to madness and constant failure becomes understandable to his turn to villainy because he was one of the original heroes that survived and has lost everything; and if you think the original Superman wouldn't stoop this low or even go insane, then stories such as INJUSTICE, KINGDOM COME, and the DARK MULTIVERSE would say different; the concept of original hero to villain makes an interesting premise for me; similar to Ultimate Reed Richard's downfall to villainy as well.

Superboy prime in my opinion is really interesting but also freaking nuts and while he isn’t my favorite character far from it I will give him this though as a massive threat to the DC Universe he’s really insane, however as a character on his own I thought he was just a complete and utter jerk and psychopath but thats just my opinion.

The retcon punch is now canonically a power of Superboy Prime, he used it against the Batman Who Laughs in Death Metal, I think. Might just be the Metal series

Personally, I might have an idea with why Superboy prime wants to fight Billy. Prime can be seen as a representation of the toxic, elitist side of comic fans. Somehow, he must have knowledge of Billy's new origin and originally terrible attitude, and maybe wants to end him for not being the purer but blander original Billy Batson from pre-flashpoint. This is him not being aware of the Billy's better character and relationships he's made across his current carrier.
I actually like the Post Crisis Bill Batson a LOT more than the new one so I wouldn't say "blander" but yeah that definitely could be why!
@@WebCamParrot Oh of course. I wanted to clarify I like both versions of Billy for different reasons, but i didn't want to be long winded. When I say blander, I just meant from a perspective standpoint, since many people don't know about the original Billy before the reboot, where they decided to put his issues and more realistic attitude front and center.

Golden age Superman also pounded on the wall and it didn’t have the same effect as superboy prime. Superboy prime was also unable to break the way because he was in a weakened state due to being in the paradise dimension for so long, which is why Alexander had to give him some of his power. Let’s not forget that when superboy was in the phantom zone and broke out of it he retconned beast boys origins. No one had broken out of the phantom zone either until prime. It was supposed to be impossible because you don’t have a physical form in the phantom zone. Even when doomsday did this it didn’t result in someone’s origins being retconned. Prime caused Connors death, doesn’t matter how. It was also the red sun that depowered superboy, since he’s immune to kryptonite. Pre crisis mordru got his power drained by a weakened Darkseid, and even that didn’t replenish Darkseid’s strength.
Yea I believe his character is always overlooked and people like to focus only on his power. Nice vid 👍

No, it clearly says in the comics that Alexander Luthor manipulated the Crystal Wall to continually show Superboy Prime the death of his parents, the death of his girlfriend. It was manipulation of Alexander Luthor that sent Superboy Prime over the edge while in the Paradise Dimension, that lead to Superboy Prime lashing out and punching the Crystal Wall.

Myx got his power back as soon as he went home and was still so traumatized by prime he never wanted to face him again. I have never seen anyone to that to myx.

Superboy prime is a character that I would love to get a redemption arc. We have seen Superman living up to being DC's symbol of hope, so I feel this tournmented Clark should get the chance to be the hope that rises from the darkest place he could possibly be.

They are both a lot stronger than Pre Crisis Superman lol. Post Crisis Superman is MUCH stronger than Pre Crisis. Pre Crisis Kryptonians being stronger is just a myth.
So...how did Conner become a MATCH for SBP? He was killed due to his 'frailty' while fighting Prime the last time, causing him to die of wounds not inflicted by Prime himself. He was resurrected later by the same way Superman was after being killed by Doomsday, but there WASN'T any power upgrade I was ever aware of. Everybody knows SBP's 'defeat' by Conner and the Teen Titans was straight-up BS! The writers, simply wanting Prime 'out of the way' for awhile, made him a JOBBER! The whole story could NOT have happened if the writers had had any real respect for how IMPOSSIBLY unbeatable he was. Its a LONG WAY to the Source wall...how could the few 'heroes' that transported him there manage to contain him during the trip??? Like I said, the story was BS! For example, the Guardian Amp increased his power to the point that he MADE the Source Walk his CAMPSITE, moving FREELY on it!.The amp was just a preview of his power in just a few years. So he was efeated by the Teen Titans....RIIIIIIIIiiiiiight.

Maybe actually watch the video? Connor and Prime fought 4 times and the only time Prime was actually winning is when they were both holding back. Connor had the upper-hand in every other engagement, especially in their third fight when he was literally just beating Prime around. They are clearly extremely close to each other in power with Connor having a slight edge at this moment.

He was massively massively amped against Monarch and Mxy and was still weaker than both of them, never defeated the Justice League, fought SOME of the justice society and doom patrol and then was taken out of the fight by the flashes. He killed 32 nameless lanterns which is somewhat impressive until you realise that the original Doomsday defeated over 1000 lanterns. In that same storyline Sinestro also defeated Ion lol, he actually defeated a stronger Ion than the one Prime did. Also prime had to use Soddams weakness against him to even win at all so you can't even really say he scales to Ion completely. Anti-monitor was barely alive when Prime defeated him, by that same merit Golden age is also that strong because he also finished of Anti-monitor.
No he didn't, they are the same entity, Brainiac 5 specifically says later that it's because they were both Superboy that they exploded like that. He never "defeated" Time Trapper, they are the same being Time Trapper is just older and more powerful.

@@WebCamParrot Actually it does the opposite because Prime beat him the first time and killed him the second. I know the explosion was the nail in the coffin, but Prime went through it too and was completely unscathed, through that and the battle. During the legion battle Conor did get some hits on Prime but none of it did any real damage. Honestly, if Prime hadn't attacked himself he probably would have killed them all.
The first time they fought they were both holding back so that doesn't really mean much.
The second time Conner was doing fine against him with them both trading blows and clearly hurting eachother until the explosion. It's not even clear whether Prime takes the full thing or not or what happened after they hit it but either way Prime having better durability (let's not forget he's literally wearing armour made out of the same stuff as the tower and has this weird ability to survive things he's not supposed to like the guardian explosion) doesn't mean he would win in a fight. Conner wasn't actually killed either he was put into a healing coma.
In their third fight a weakened recently regenerated Conner stomps Prime utterly causing him to spit up blood and burns a giant scar into his chest. Like Prime is trying to fight back but he's terrified of Conner and is just losing badly and then the wipe out with time trapper happens. Mordru even tries to warn Prime telling him that if Conner wakes up they will lose implying he is the deciding factor there in Prime's defeat.
The fourth time we don't really see much happen except Conner easily tagging and causing Prime to bleed every time they clash. I think Prime got one hit in but that was about it.
Like if Prime was actually stronger like you are implying why does he get his ass beat so hard the only two times they actually got to fight properly. If you want to say that they are extremely close that's fine, I personally think Conner is favoured as is but it's undeniable that they are very relative.

As I said before he landed some good shots on prime their third fight but are you conveniently forgetting Conor also had the help from three other legions while fighting prime? Also, you said Conor died by explosion the 2nd fight so prime can’t take the W because of that well in their third fight Prime technically killed himself. Moreover, are you also forgetting Superman himself said he couldn’t beat prime, so how could Conor best him? Lastly, Prime defeated a weakened anti monitor and Sodam yat with Ion. Could Conor do the same thing? I’m sorry dude but other than that one teen titan comic which no one takes seriously Prime stomps every time without much effort.
Yes he was holding back, Conner was doing better or even in every fight. Conner could also defeat that same anti-monitor, Sodam was weakened by lead. Please try harder.

honestly prime trapper not being able to remove superman means nothing given DR M proved to us he is a DC reality constant and trying to remove superman from reality removes reality including the remover which is a paradox. Bruv if you think the teen titans can scrap with prime without a 1000 year charged Connor superboy you're confused; SB prime post-crisis floored them, that was a plot nerf without a doubt. the comic was, like you said, meant to show further contrasts in character simple as that.
Do other people think that Multiversity was a HUGE letdown. I especially disliked the issue with Ultra in it. I originally thought that SBP was going to be in that issue (the one with Ultra in it) since, you know, it happened in EARTH 33 A.K.A OUR OWN EARTH, but you know, good things can't happen to us fans all too much.

Basically if you read the establishment of the multiverse when Jay Garrick and Barry Allen met you'll find out that on the silver age earth (barry's earth) they read about the golden age earth (Jay's) and vice versa thats because the comic authors dream of the other earths. So earth prime just dreams of new earth.

I'm glad they let Prime take a rest for a while. It seemed like he was going the route of Doomsday, where he was this big threat that they reused so much he became a joke. It's been long enough now that "I'll kill you to death" can be forgotten and he can be used properly.
And who knows, maybe someday someone will get through to him and he can indeed be redeemed. Not enough of that going around in my opinion.

I would love to see a video on Connor Kent actually, he always seems to be depicted as very weak as far as DC heroes go (at least the little I've been exposed to it), but sometimes he pulls out some amazing feats out of nowhere.
He's definitely not weak, he has a lot of great feats honestly super underrated. I would like to do a video on him at some point.

They also nerfed him when they reconed him being a clone of superman and lex.Compared to the original interpretation when he was considered a clone of superman and his donor being paul westfield. In young justice we got a weaker and emotionally stunted superboy who can't fly or use his other abilities without lex's help -_- really? Yea the original interpretation of connor was the best.

I love characters like Superboy-Prime and Psycho-Pirate who remain relatively unchanged by each Crisis and reboot, mainly because it's interesting to see a character who knows that things have been completely changed each time and remembers what even the big-league characters don't.

Speaking of different versions of Superman, did you think about doing an in-depth video on Strange Visitor Superman? I've seen people say he scales above Mxy because of him entering a space that even Mxy considers more dangerous than The 5th Dimension.
At this point, my headcanon is that Superboy Prime has become a living paradox in the same way Professor Zoom is.
It explains how he has just managed to *randomly appear* repeatedly, and it lets him keep the happy ending he got earlier, which is nice.

I disagree. The Titans are tough, but they’re not THAT tough.
What happened to Superboy-Prime in TEEN TITANS #99 & #100 seems inconsistent and doesn’t coincide with what was shown in 5:23 where he was able to fight all of the Titans and other teams all at once; which was again shown in 10:56, taking on all of the DC main universe heroes for round 2 while still recovering his powers; and once more at 23:20, where two fights had to be fought in order to defeat Prime, only to be defeated by himself; and at 28:04 he was the only one who was able to again withstand against an attack by a group of Black Lanterns, then live and win against them by wearing their own rings, something the original heroes couldn’t do, and required them to wear different rings such as Wonder Woman needed to wear the purple lantern ring, and The Flash wearing a blue lantern;
Superboy-Prime’s defeat at the hands of Teen Titans make no sense, since you yourself has noted Prime’s numerous feats, such as 19:56, withstanding a blow of magic from Kinetrix; and 20:30, where you stated Superboy-Prime is one of 3 characters to break a force-field belt and the only one to break 3 at once; and 18:30, where a magic attack from the strongest mage was useless;
therefore, I don’t think his defeat by the Teen Titans is consistent with the display of his powers and the feats he showed and has achieved over his appearances in the numerous events he has taken part in; he’s too strong to be taken down in the most convenient way such as being grouped up on or outnumbered when the first three attempts has already failed, it just doesn’t make any sense and seems to be due to the writer wanting to tie a loose end regardless of the repercussions or plot holes that would follow; I just don’t buy it.
It’d be similar to beating Super Buu is to just feed him vegetables instead of fusing, and entering him to free prisoners, and eventually spirit bombing him to finally defeat him.
Picking a fight with a large group of heroes and losing or running away is not a feat. Both of the two timestamps to provided at the beginning are examples of this. He literally lost the fight against the Teen Titans and others after killing 3 street level characters like Pantha and Wildebeast and he was forced to fly away from the justice league and others after defeating dudes like Red Star. You make it sound like he was winning these fights but he wasn't. He's not Doomsday or Despero, he's never wiped out an entire team of heroes before, usually the only thing he does is pick off the weakest members of these teams.
The Black Lanterns vary in power depending on the host and Prime did need to use a lantern ring to defeat them. Smite who is weaker than Superman was able to fight 6 Black Lanterns simultaneously for 3 days with Starro. The only Black Lantern worth anything that Prime was fighting was Alexander Luthor who was basically bodying Prime up until he put the ring on. Alexander wasn't even trying to kill him he just wanted to feed off his emotions.
Prime is resistent to magic that's how he survives those attacks, it's noted repeatedly. We even see directly that he is much weaker than Mordru because of how easily Mordru was dealing with Rond Vidar and the Legion and then Prime was struggling with just Rond Vidar even though he had help.
Breaking the force fields is cool but just because no one else has done it doesn't mean no one else COULD do it. Conner could easily accomplish this for instance.
Prime has never ever won a fight where he was grouped up on. He lost every single one of those fights. Again he's not Doomsday. Base Prime never won a fight against something that would be able to beat the entire Teen Titans especially not that particular Teen Titans team at the end of vol 3. Like a weaker Teen Titans team was able to defeat Despero and you are definitely tripping if you think Prime would even stand a chance against Despero lol.

Superboy-Prime was grouped on during his first encounter with Conner Kent and it took the effort of all the flashes with the return of Barry included to seal him within the speedforce, he didn’t runaway nor were they able to defeat him; if they could’ve beaten him by grouping up on him before why didn’t they do so during that time; and why did it take two Supermen running him through a red-sun to defeat him and one of them dying in the process; and with his fight against the legion, they couldn’t defeat him and had to bring in his future self to defeat him, and don’t say they didn’t want to kill him and were holding back, cuz’ the Teen Titans didn’t need to and achieved the same outcome; I’m saying if they could’ve beaten him that easily, why didn’t they do so at first, and felt like a “Third time’s the charm moment” that it only worked THAT TIME.
They didn't even imprison him in the speedforce they just took him to an alternate earth where he was trapped under red sunlight for 2 years which yes does count as him losing, the flashes easily defeated him and left him in a completely depowered and helpless state.
Neither of the Supermen wanted to kill Prime that's why they tried to depower him but his suit left him with enough power to finish off the powerless Goldenage Superman. It's not like he fought and beat them, he actually lost to Post Crisis ultimately.
Conner was beating the tar out of Prime during the legion event what are you talking about lol. They had to bring Time Trapper to the present so they could defeat Time Trapper because he was such a huge threat not Prime lol. Prime was on the ropes the entire time against Conner.
They did defeat Prime every single time though. All of these fights you are mentioning are fights that he lost. Again the Teen Titans have fought with dudes MUCH worse than Prime before, he's not special. What happened at the end of Teen Titans vol 3 is what would have happened in Infinite Crisis if Prime hadn't been taken to an alternate Earth by the flashes. It was only a matter of time before he got his ass beat, killing a few fodder street tiers wasn't going to save him lol.

Yet it wasn’t one flash that took him to another universe with red suns, it took all of them to do that; with Wally Disappearing, Jay not keeping up, and Barry returning to help, and they didn’t even beat him, they depowered him, so I wouldn’t say they did that easily, since it had risks and costs; and if he could be defeated by being ganged up on, why didn’t the flashes let that happen in the first place, Cassie had to call everyone to help Conner, and through all their numbers still didn’t achieve the outcome that happened in Teen Titans vol 3; Superboy-Prime didn’t even have his armor during this time and they still couldn’t beat him, everyone was present during that time, how come the gang up strat didn’t work then and only worked in Teen Titans #100? That just made no sense.
Even the Green Lanterns grouped on him before the two Supermen ran him through the red sun, and the GL have faced far more dangerous individuals than the Teen Titans have, and even then a number of them got killed; there should be at least a number of casualties and collaterals accumulated before the Teen Titans could even get close to defeating Superboy-Prime.
Hence, again I chalk it up to inconsistency.
They literally made him a normal human for 2 years under redsunlight lol. That is a defeat, at any point Bart or Barry could have just killed him he was a normal human. Again if the fight had continued the beatdown would have happened the exact same way. It's not like Prime was defeating anyone relevant in that fight.
Most of those green lanterns were nameless fodder with no feats and Prime still only killed 32 of them, the weakest Doomsday we ever saw defeated 1000 lanterns before ever even fighting Superman. I explained the two Supermen thing already and you just ignored me.

Ever since I first read about superboy prime, I fell in love with his character and everything about how he tragically progressed. A teenager that becomes a God overnight, but is powerless to save his world and loved ones. So goes on a search to revive his earth, and in turn, coming into conflict with the heroes he had teamed up with. Fought the teen titans, the justice society, the Doom patrol, the entire justice league , 2 supermen, 3 of the fastest speedsters, supergirl , power girl, conor kent, green lanterns, and yellow lanterns, all at the same gime. And kicking all their asses. I loved no matter how powerful his next opponent was, he just proved how much stronger he was, or how durable he can be. Such a misunderstood character , a kid that gains the powers of a god but loses everything he loves, and breaks under the stress of what he went through and goes on a rampage, unwilling to lose, refusing to die, and fighting to regain what he has lost.
Not to mention that on a meta level he did read comics of Superman. So it’s also likely that Prime just never felt any feeling not just due to the crisis. But also how he just know the people to him are just comic book characters. Not real and yet here he is and here they are

If anything were capable of punching through any part of the universe at any point and was able to pass through it unharmed I would deem that impressive.
Using paper as an example as you did, most sheets of paper share approximately the same density throughout the entire sheet. This means no matter where the paper was punched through, the strength of the entire sheet would be no greater at any other point of the paper anyway, except maybe the edges or the corners.
Breaking the space-time fabric of the phantom zone deserves special consideration. Other Supermen would not have been able to do this. Zod and his three partners couldn't and Superboy-Prime was able to maintain full power while in there. Most examples show Superman losing his powers immediately upon entry.
Again, it's just my opinion. Love the channel.
The whole point of the Phantom Zone, is that once you are imprisoned within it, you can not escape. Superboy Prime being able to to punch his way out is unheard of up to that point in time within DC comics.
SBP started out as a minor character to be forgotten after Crisis on Infinite Earths, to become a plot device, to end up as a fan-favourite anti-hero/anti-villain with one of the best character developments in only a handful of appearances that led to his redemption ark (Death Metal). And all of that just to be selved once more after said redemption ark until he is needed again.
I'm glad they're bringing Superboy Prime back. He's a toxic fanboy so he's always topical, and in the age of social media he might be more topical than ever.

Superboy prime’s greatest asset is his durability...resistance to magic, kryptonite, blasts, punches, and time travel make him more powerful than just about any other villain. Strength wise he’s still above regular Superman.

Strange life story. Superboy prime came from New England in our reality in the comics. I'm from New England and like 14 years ago I found the DC comics presents first appearance of Superboy Prime at my local flea market for cheap money and when I opened up the book on the first page it was signed "To my pal from Superboy Prime. It was written in cursive black ink. I took that as inspiration and even more synchronicity in my quest to become the Greatest Tom Brady football card collector of all times !
Funny thing is that while Superboy was unable to break through the wall on his own Earth 2 Superman had no such issues. Also should be noted the Superboy have bronze-level power not Silver age like so many people seem to want to give him. My favorite thing about the Superboy crime story line is it's about the rise and fall of a hero hopefully he'll be redeemed but I don't know if that's even possible Superman seems to think it is the from Legion of 3 worlds

After that he is considered to be modern age (or bronze age if you prefer as this is debatable) superman. You're correct Superman was nerfed a couple of times before crisis, but in relatively minor ways. So he wasn't able to sneeze entire solar systems to oblivion just before crisis, but most people would consider him like 85-90% of that power given his consistent feats in comics leading to crisis. After crisis is when his power dropped to like 60% or whatever silver age power. Superboy prime however is basically equivalent to that near-end silver age superman, so weaker than peak SA superman but definitely close.
Uto Resa 519 primes feats outscale pre-crisis by far, the guy that did this video downplayed primes power and it was obvious that primes universal plus feats are valid. sodam yat was powered by the willpower entity which granted him universal plus power. prime fought every galaxy plus level hero on earth and beat them all. the phantom zone he had no physical form and he still broke out. this is a downplay on your part. pre-crisis was impressed with the speed and power of baby superboy prime that just developed powers. and in the feats were he retconned history it was stated he hasnt been near a sun in years which mean he altered history WEAKENED. is there more i have to say. in regular power levels he is universal plus of the rip.
Thanks for pointing out the Superboy lawsuit of 2006-09. The Siegel family was suing DC for the rights of the "Superboy" character. The Siegel family had every right because Jerry and Joe Schuster created Superman. Since Superboy is a teenage version of Clark, then that means the ownership going to the creator(s). In addition, this same element also applies to Donna Troy. She was partially created by William Moulton Marston and more so by Robert Kanigher.
Anyhow, the reason why Conner Kent was killed off in Infinite Crisis was due to the lawsuit between the Siegel family and Warner Bros. Once the suit was settled, DC was able to use the Superboy name again.
Both Siegel and Shuster weren't given the credit they were owed for their contribution to/creation of Superman and other related characters for a long time. I agree that the law suit was totally justified. I thought it was an interesting part of Prime's history that actually effected his character pretty drastically so I figured I would mention it lol.
I should have actually mentioned that Conner himself was killed off for the same reason but it kind of slipped my mind at the time because the video wasn't about him. Thanks for pointing that out!
