Oh....i wish you would watch this with the whole band. Seeing Jonny playing the piano with the neck of the guitar is epic. That guy, ha?

The Piano part in Karma Police is from Sexy Sadie (sort of) and with Jonny venturing into composing (ala Geroge Martin) songs like Faust Harp have Eleanor Rigby type orchestration, in fact, the last 2 Smile albums have been recorded at Abbey Road, probably for orchestration (is that a word? lol) reasons.
The National Anthem? listen to that and tell me you don't hear echoes of Tomorrow Never Knows... Thoms lyrics are, for me anyway, a continuation of that Lennon and Bowie style of abstract with meaning.
The full use of a studio and all its tech, exploring new tech and incorporating it into their sound, pleasing theselves instead of what everyone wants, its all very Beatles, love me do (creep) to Tomorrow Never Knows (The National Anthem). They progress their sound, never sound like the last album etc......... just like... The Beatles.

Radiohead and the Beatles? The Daily Mail. Closest one I can think if to the Beatles sound. It's an amazing song.

Nobody switches to falsetto/head voice and back again like Thom.... even now in his 50s. Seriously impressive.

while i love thom yorke, jeff buckley does the switching between head and chest voice better and smoother (in fact, he's who inspired thom to sing in falsetto to begin with lol). if u like this quality in singers, check out buckley's stuff (specifically songs like mojo pin, lilac wine, and hallelujah for this kind of thing, but all of his album "Grace" is a vocal masterclass)

There are a number of parallels between Radiohead and the Beatles but for the most part they don't sound much alike. I think from my perspective, they remind me of each other, because they have both evolved in somewhat similar fashion. They don't repeat themselves from album to album and even song to song on the same albums, yet you can always tell it's Radiohead and that's a quality they share with the Beatles. They also use the studio in very interesting ways that also connect them in a way. They both started off as somewhat basic rock bands but evolved into bands that are fearless and use whatever medium serves the song and were popular enough to not have to worry about it much afterwards. Even Phil (the drummer) reminds me of Ringo in a way, he's not flashy but he's great at serving the song well and because of that he sometimes doesn't get the credit he deserves.

This is what happens when you have played together since you were 14.. I general I would trust Jonny more on the time keeping though. 😊

Radiohead and Beatles are not similar, but they are just as innovative at the time and both have influenced a lot of other bands.
And yes, that's my assessment to music too. If I couldn't write it, I really like it ❤
