    Mike, this might be one of the greatest birthday presents that I ever bought my wife. She has had hers for around 10 years and still loves it, light, not over powering, easy to use and just add gas and go, no mixing gas and oil. And hers came with a lawn edger, sweet.

    I am 89 and have had a Mantis Tiller for 10 years.Powered by the Brilliant Honda mini 4=stroke engine Just turned over 500sq/ft of garden to a fine tilth, on only 5 fills of the fuel tank..Had to get new tines last year as it had done masses of work over the years.Can't praise it enough.CRACKING BIT of kit

    Some may call me crazy, but I just bought one of these and plan to till a 24 x 40 garden with it. I will post video on my channel in future.

      Probably heard stories about his great grandfather having to plow manually before the combustion engine was invented 🤔

    I like it! Hey Mike, thanks for the demo. I had the 2 cycle version and gave it to my brother a couple years ago to do a job.
    This one looks like the ticket.

    That's some beautiful soil you have there. I like that it goes as deep as you need it to and there's no wheels to limit you.

    I’ve had a Mantis a few years now with the Honda GX25 engine. It’s a great tiller. Don’t use ethanol gas, make sure it’s non-ethanol and you won’t have startup issues. It’s a really great machine for tight spaces.

    • @brianscheidler5638
      @brianscheidler5638 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just bought this tiller at Lowe's and the employee told me that it was highly recommended to add a fuel stabilizer that treats ethanol. He said if I don't add a "cap" full to the gasoline, that the ethanol will eventually cause issues in the carburetor (gum and goop build-up) and it will be hard to start it. So, I bought the fuel stabilizer/ethanol treatment to avoid this issue....

    • @ikeyeet8312
      @ikeyeet8312 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@brianscheidler5638 don't even bother with the stabilizer, find non ethanol gas at a local station, or buy it in a can.

    Thank you for this. I am planning to rent one today for breakin up some high areas of ground in the yard and then leveling it with hand tools. This will help me not break my damn back using a hoe, mattick, shovel, etc. I think the best part of the video by far is 5:38

    I have rock hard clay "soil". I want to take out the existing lawn and do the whole thing right with black dirt, compost, and sand. I'll probably have to pay someone to do it for me, but I'm just experimenting on a small patch to see how much has to be taken out, and how much new soil brought in. I think I can work this small roto-tiller - it doesn't look too scary. Thanks for this video!

    Never realized but these would be great for digging trenches for water lines

    • @joeandrews8842
      @joeandrews8842 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I've used them for just that purpose. I have dug trenches for electric cable, buried gutter drain lines and even dug a small backyard fish pond. They're great machines and I wouldn't be without one. As a matter of fact, I just planted two sugar maple trees in our yard two days ago and went round and round and loosened up all the soil so all I had to do was shovel it out, set the tree and backfill.

    Hey Mike thank you for the step by step details on the mantis. I was a little skeptical until I seen this review. Now I can with out doubt what so ever buy used in good condition off Facebook market. Not sure what model she has. Her asking price is $100. Brand new out the box the lowest price starts at $300 at Lowes.

    I've had this about four months and have found it to be an aggressive and powerful rig. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxjo0FLo5z3Y_qUcT3vSlOqpMaMdFjvsXa I've used several others in the past and the Sun Joe surpasses these, easily. I note that several people have commented that it bounces on rocky and compacted soil. I believe that would be the case with all tillers - the ground does need to be "broken", either with a larger tractor type unit or with a shovel, and rocks need to be removed. I'm living on a Pike silt loam here in the midwest and the Sun Joe turns my garden to bug dust in two quick passes. I use a technique where I do a short 2 foot run then pull it back and let it go over it again.

  • @bigal25938

      Hello, I don't know on what sort of scale you farm on how many acres, as you can see the machine tills a fairly narrow row and would take some time to cover a large area. Ideal for working between rows of crops weeding etc, I would think if not available in your country that you will have to arrange to import your own. But perhaps you are fixed up now as this is eight months or more ago.
