Santa has been in all the travel magazines. Now, the infrastructure cannot keep up, or the accommodation choices. Loved it decades ago, like everywhere else in CR. Cheers. Was in Tama 2 years ago solo for a while, had fun.

I agree on Santa. It's suffering from its own success. Finger crossed, things will improve

Great video. I loved Santa Teresa when I first went there ten years ago. I went last year, and for me the vibe is not so chill anymore. There are parties everywhere, and one thing you didn't mention is the terrible dust on the main road. Because it's such a long town, first time I went I hired a bike and happily pedalled up and down the road. Now there are so many cars and ATV's the dust makes cycling completely impossible and not only is the road unpaved, but a lot of the time there isn't even a path to walk down, even if you wanted to. And for this you pay an enormous premium, even in the hostels. And the surf is ridiculously crowded. It's an unpopular opinion, but I now much prefer Jaco. You can walk round town without dust and the surf, although not as epic as Santa Teresa, is still pretty good at high tide and there always seems to be room for everyone, and maybe because it's not quite as epic, I think the vibe in the water is more friendly. And Jaco is very well located for getting to other places, including Santa Teresa via the speed boat. I look forward to seeing your views on Jaco.

Thanks for your feedback. It's interesting how we all perceive places. I enjoyed Jaco. In fact, I included in another video about surfing spots. However, I thought it has been overbuilt with too many condos. In saying that, location is great and waves are good.
I agree with you about Santa Teresa about the main road. They really need to step up. Most of the land owners are so fed up with the council collecting taxes but not building at least the road. Fingers crossed it will happen soon.

Unfortunately, Nosara seems to be going on the same path but the community is very strong, and slowly it's getting better.
And yes, the tax money is never applied locally to the basic needs and people have to pay to fix the roads out of their pockets.

Good job !!! Have been to Jaco 3-4 times. Surf the waves down the coast. Wouldn't go back as looks way over crowded now

Why would you go to San Jose airport then take a ferry when you can go to Liberia airport and drive to Santa Teresa?

Absolutely. If you have flights to Liberia, go for it. It's better connected. You are going to save at least 2h👍🇨🇷

ticket prices can be lower when flying to San Jose.
