The market is not necessarily a rollercoaster if you know your way around the market, there are various opportunities in the present market to accrue good profit, If you are not too savvy with the market, just buy and hold on strong companies with good earnings, or consult with advisors on ETFs and actively managed funds. that’s what works for my spouse and I. We've made over 30% capital growth minus dividends.

I feel investors should be focusing on under-the-radar stocks, and considering the current rollercoaster nature of the stock market, Because 35% of my $270k portfolio comprises of plummeting stocks which were once revered and i don't know where to go here out of devastation.

Safest approach i feel to tackle it is to diversify investments. By spreading investments across different asset classes, like bonds, real estate, and international stocks, they can reduce the impact of a market meltdown

Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.

It took me five years to realize the futility of trying to predict market movements solely based on chart analysis. The unpredictability of the market made it clear that such predictions are unreliable. The absence of a mentor during that period resulted in five years of painful experiences. However, I eventually learned to align myself with the direction the market wanted to go and adopt a simpler, disciplined approach.

Oh, did they buy something Joseph already owns, yes, totally makes sense because that is a great company. 🤣

I dont understand the idea that interest rates would have an effect on home depot/lowes.
Lets say someone does not have the ability to buy a new house for a while and plans not to due to interest rates. That person is far more likely to do renovations on their house. Especially if they can do the renovation themself.
Additionally even if you dont accept the above, i have zero doubt that new house purchases will negatively corelate to how many repairs people do. If you cant afford a new house then you deff need to repair your current one.
I dont get the logic that home depot/lowes would do poorly in a high interest rate environment.

The dividend has doubled since, the price of the holdings is 2.5x, and his return on equity is infinite since he deployed no capital. The S&P trades at 27x its earnings (183 through 9/30). Outside of recessions, only the late 90’s have seen such idiotik valuations. If multiples contract, these high multiple names with no earnings yield will produce mediocre returns regardless of growth.

I just don’t get why Buffett doesn’t acquire Occidental Petroleum at this point. I swear he adds a significant amount to that position every quarter, and the company trades at a 52 billion dollar market cap which he can afford. I am pretty sure he already owns a massive part of the company already too so I just don’t get why he doesn’t acquire it.
