Another album cover? Sure, why not? This time I'm going with another album from 2002. Trust Company's debut, "The Lonely Position Of Neutral"! I picked this one because I wanted to do an album from a band I haven't done before already. I was originally going to do Hybrid Theory next but there appears to be some strict copyright issues for all Linkin Park songs so I had to scrap that one unfortunately and this one kind of just fell in its place instead. Never realized how influential this album was to me until years later. Trust Company was a band that came up in an era where a lot of bands had the same style. The peak of the post-nu metal/alt-metal era so they got a little lost in the shuffle. But what always made them stand out to me was Kevin Palmer's voice. Extremely unique, it almost sounds like he's whispering but singing at the same time. I played a lot of this album back in the day and some people write them off as a one-hit wonder, I couldn't disagree more with that. This whole album is full of Downfall-quality songs. It's one of those albums where any one of these songs could have been a single today, it's that good of an album. My personal favorite is Drop To Zero which is later in the album and one of their heaviest songs. I wish these guys were still writing new songs, supposedly they are but nobody really knows.
As a teen, this is the kind of music I wanted to make. The kind of band I wanted to be in. By the time I finally got a guitar and started learning to play it, everyone just wanted to do metalcore. When I learned how to play metalcore, everybody wanted to play either shred or stoner rock. I'd still be interested in making music like this.
Same here man it seems times were way easier to make music back then with this genre and it just hits so good. I’ve wondered how much is still left to still have room for original stuff that doesn’t sound too much like something that was already made
Fear in me so deep It gets the best of me In the fear I fall Here it comes face to face with me Here I stand Hold back so no one can see I feel these wounds Step down, step down, step Am I breaking Can I break away Push me away Make me fall Just to see Another side of me Push me away You can't see What I see The other side of me Fall back on me And I'll be the strength I need To save me now Just come face to face with me Stay in place you'll be The first to see Me heal these wounds Step down, step down, step No one can see Everything on the other side of me I walk I crawl Losing everything and waiting For a downfall No one can see Anything on the other side of me I walk I crawl Losing everything on the downfall
The guitar style you are covering seems similar to Sevendust. I wonder if Trust Company was listening to THE DUST when growing up? Anyways, awesome cover! As always, you made it look easy. ROCK ON ROCK STAR!!!!!!!
haha probably. I think Trust Co. formed around the same time or only a little after Sevendust though. Didn't get their break until way later. Trust Co. seemed to be more inspired by the grunge bands of the time like Alice In Chains and Soundgarden. Sevendust was more inspired by metal bands like Pantera and Living Colour.
I agree. FUNK ROCK AND THRASH METAL are the biggest influences on Sevendust. Thing is, I had not heard of Trust Company till I saw this video. So I assumed they were new. Make Sense? Also, speaking of Funk Rock. Mike Judge, of Beavis and Butt-Head fame is doing a show on obscure musicians who get into trouble with the law called "TALES FROM THE TOUR BUS." They did country western before and, this season, they do FUNK ROCK! The Rick James two-parter just wrapped up now. Look for it if you have cinemax! ROCK ON MAN! @@MysticGuitar77
I debated on how I wanted to play that part. It sounds primarily like single notes but there's some power chord undertones in there as well. It's possible they dubbed in a power chord guitar in there to add in more dynamics to that riff. It's deeper in the mix and you can only hear it with headphones. It's a pretty common recording technique and there's some other songs on this album that do something similar as well. And besides, power chords are more fun to play. :p

Agree. This album is gold.

Airbourne went back to classic rock. Who’s to say we can’t go back to alt rock/grunge?

is it just me or is this post grunge/alt rock style making a come back with bands like Soul Blind and Bleed...
Nu Metals making a comeback bro, nows your chance

Fear in me so deep
It gets the best of me
In the fear I fall
Here it comes face to face with me
Here I stand
Hold back so no one can see
I feel these wounds
Step down, step down, step
Am I breaking
Can I break away
Push me away
Make me fall
Just to see
Another side of me
Push me away
You can't see
What I see
The other side of me
Fall back on me
And I'll be the strength I need
To save me now
Just come face to face with me
Stay in place you'll be
The first to see
Me heal these wounds
Step down, step down, step
No one can see
Everything on the other side of me
I walk I crawl
Losing everything and waiting
For a downfall
No one can see
Anything on the other side of me
I walk I crawl
Losing everything on the downfall

Killin the game as always. Loved this album so much
I have playing this song entirely wrong for so long.
THIS SONG IS SO MUCH LOUDER IN MY HEADPHONES 🎧
What kind of effects did he use?
Pretty sure the intro is single notes (at least that's how I play it). Awesome cover as always though, man.

What’s the tuning?? Drop D?
Would you please do a rig rundown?
I'm overdue for one. I'm thinking that'll be a good 10k subscriber video.
MysticGuitar77.... I concur. I should have also mentioned that you did a great job as usual on that song. Keep up the good work man. Cheers!
@@JMZM7907 Thanks man!
Standard tuning?

What gear did you use on this song?
Schecter Hellraiser C-1 into an EVH 5150 IIIS EL34.
WWE Vengeance 2002
I thought they tuned in drop D
I think all their songs are in Drop C#. This whole album is at least.
