I think you are using the wrong corn... try a dry flower corn.. soak it in water for two days in the refrigerator then strain and dry with paper towels... deep fry and enjoy

I love corn nuts. I don’t like working with hot oil. I am terrified of it. Lol. My mom used to fry everything and I got splattered so many times. I always watched her cooking. Lol. Great videos and so nice to meet y’all!

Try put in the in the oven to dry them up, that gets rid of all the moisture. Then fry them that’ll get them crunchy

A food dehydrator might help? Perhaps drying them most of the way, then frying for a cpl min to add color? I've no idea if it'd work, but if yours are soft inside, then maybe a food dehydrator is the answer??

Thank you for this video! I've never made corn nuts before, but I have made jerky and dehydrated fruit. A lot of the videos I've watched talked about using sweet corn, but I was telling my daughter, I think it was made of hominy, so that's a reassuring fact. I would say, in my honest opinion, although, I've never made corn nuts, but you might need more oil because I think spacing is key. That's something I've learned from baking and dehydrating in general. Thanks for the great video :-)

I tried with fresh corn, which I soaked in water for few hours, dried them then fried them. they came out amazing. I made them extra salty, but you adjust that with every try

@@jillshomesteadexperience6706 No, you don't. The igniter knob that you turn creates it's own spark just like on a grill. And even on a stove like I have in my house that does use power to make the spark I can still light each burner with a match when the power goes out. Try it and see.

Do you think the reason it’s not crunchy is because you started out with homney then deep fried? I’ve watched several videos on making these and it seems the homney is dry roasted in an iron skillet, or start with dried corn, soak, dry then fry in oil.

It's painful to see someone complain that they can't use an electric can opener... If u had a job in a kitchen where u opening 200 cans a day for something. I would understand the need. Or if you are disabled. I'm sorry but to open a can using even the most cheapest can opener does not take that much effort,
