    Thanks for another interesting back-story. I hate to see these old buildings disappearing, because they don't building that way any more.

      The Amish are about the only ones who can afford too, and that's because of the cheap labor. 😂

    Love the old barns, they can't be replaced and are definitely worth saving.

      The way I see it as they disappear, correspondingly so does the respect for agriculture. People see modern farms and see cruelty and factory farms, even though they are designed for animal comfort. They have the image of the red barn and white silo with cows on pasture. It's the same Walmart has done to Mom and pops.

    Great old building. Still functional, even just for storage. A guy near me partioned off his mow in to two separate units with separate doors. He rents them out like storage units. Also rents out the downstairs the same way. Good little side income.

    For its age that barn looks pretty good yet, I’m sure it has old barn problems like they all do

      Some of the back wall beams are looking weak.
      It'll probably show signs of deterioration faster now that there are no animals in it. They say a barn with no animals is lifeless they go downhill fast

    That’s a really nice square baler. The mills around me are looking for oats also. I grow some for balage for beefers but I also don’t got a combine so I can’t do much. Square bales do make money if you got the right equipment and help. We ran into finding help so we bought a bale accumulator. Thanks for the video

      Years ago several guys had a Gleaner E or Massy 550 and someone always had time to help. Nowadays it's combines with 25 feet heads and they're too busy and too big for my 5-10 acre fields.

    With our old barn, we reinforced the supports down where the cows used to be. Honestly the old bank barns were really never meant to house cattle, barn cleaners etc. So now we use the upstairs for large squares, reinforced the floor so it can handle the weight. If we had not done work in years past, the barn would be in really rough shape, glad we did then, cheaper vs now.

      We used to add floor jacks when stacking hay because of the added weight. When these barns were they were made for loose hay.
      That's also why I rolled the round bales in upstairs. I feel nervous just driving on the floor with a skid steer.

      Yep. Friends of the guy who I was milking his show cows. All their attitudes change when he had to move his cows when I no longer was able to milk them. They all gave me the cold shoulder and didn't say one word to me at the fair. So 🖕 em.
      You're only their friend when they're getting something

      I'm sure it wasn't the original layout. Whoever remodeled fit their needs at the time.
      All it takes a couple inches to be too small resulting in wasted space.

    Is that an Alamo vacuum pump by the door when you walk in we had one when i was growing up in Southern Ohio on our jersey farm

    • @Mad_Farmer912
      @Mad_Farmer912  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah.
      We had 3 of them. That one is a 55. The one in the old milk barn is a 75. And I have another 75 I think just needs vanes and bearings.
      Good reliable and quiet pumps

    Everything goes to hell if you dont take care of it !!! look at your truck,,,,,,

    • @Mad_Farmer912
      @Mad_Farmer912  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What about my truck? A deer jumped across a ditch right into the side as I drove by.
      I guess that why I run 40 year old equipment because of the lack of care.
