Very good summary, Rutendo is failing to call out the smuggling and corruption that was exposed by Al Jazeera. My biggest concern with him is that he seems too obsessed with Americans
I thought it was weird too when he pretended like he doesn't know Uebert Angel is the ambassador at large. I also found it weird that he explained Uebert Angel's comments as just a typical African exaggerating 😂😂😂 haaibo!!!! I also find it strange that he never wants to hold the government accountable. He blames colonization for everything. He did the same thing with Eskom. I'm not discrediting that colonization is at the root of our issues as a continent but the black government cannot be absolved of accountability and responsibility for the current state of SA, Zim, DRC, Nigeria and the so on.
Exactly, the problem in Zimbabwe is that we are dealing with a highly dishonest system which includes this Rutendo guy. Even if you film them slaughtering people they will find some flimsy statement to elbow responsibility aside. It is a spineless system. The difference between it and the colonial system is that the latter did not hide its disregard of the colonized. This one pretends to be acting on behalf of the ordinary Zimbabwean yet they are lining their pockets with foreign currency.
It's laughable how people can actually believe such lies, not the least impressed by this ZANU PF apologetic, a miserable story defending Mnangagwa coming from this guy and he has bamboozled everyone 😅😂😂
Dope interview, south Africa,Zim and drc need to make a cartal for gold to determine the price of our gold... Thanks to God pen and rutendo always make me to research after watching they conversation
This is one of your best podcasts with just FACTS - if South Africans can stop being complacent and thinking they are "better than" attitude to the Zimbabwean issues - maybe just "maybe" we would make a progress in fighting the common enemy for the better good of both countries. ANC = ZANU at the end of the day.
As long as these types of people are influencing public opinions in Africa, the continent will remain poor. Uebert said he could smuggle a total of 1.2 billion dollars and that he will be doing 5 million dollars every week. We are not fools.
Getting a license in Zimbabwe is not an easy task, I have been waiting for 2 years for a license, i have also seen companies that have applied for licence 5 years ago that have not yet got license and been moving from office to office. The company with airwaves also had a struggle with getting a licence for the airwaves for years.
This is what baffles me about the whole situation. Making it easy for fellow Zimbabweans to participate in this would have made more sense what what is currently happening. Considering a lot of the revenue is lost outside the country to non Zimbabweans. The truth of the matter is that they want a monopoly so they can create the least transparency possible for their own gain and are happy to not include Zimbabweans in the trade
Rutendo Matinyarare. What you are missing out is accountability. Yes what you are saying may make sense in your head Rutendo and I hate the fact that it seems you are just in defence mode when it comes to issues regarding the current government of Zimbabwe. 80% of the things you say are right, however I feel that you are not objective enough when it comes to negative things about Zimbabwe. Its my country as well and I wish it well, the same way you do, however when wrongs are done they need to be acknowledged and corrected not defend or justify them. We should be thanking Al jazeera for exposing this for us so we can work on it as a country. Hope you will be objective enough when you read this comment and not see it as an attack.
Blatantly misleading narrative! The characters involved in the documentary are unquestionably criminals indiscriminately harvesting the country's resources for personal benefit! Nothing unusual expressed in the Aljazeera film - corruption, money laundering, fraud are everyday news in Zimbabwe....
He is truly amazing in the way he articulates his arguments and presents the other side. Indeed the collective west is desperate to contain Zimbabwe and the rest of the continent. Their sanctions have failed dismally and out of despair they hired Al Jazeera to do their dirty work for them.
Now I understand the full story, there is no corruption and money laundering in the first documentary. The only person who messed up is Uebert Angel, otherwise everything other thing was above board.
This episode taught me immensely about the importance of artisanal mining. Sad at the same time that the ANC government through its neoliberal policies, artisanal mining is criminalised. Zimbabweans are free and liberated for they enjoy what many Africans are being denied to access. Access to mineral resources of your birthland is the highest level of independence
But yet the ordinary Zimbabwean citizen is not getting a cent of the mineral resources. The money is going to the big boys. They need to redistribute the wealth, so that everyone benefits not a few individuals.
Just spoke to a friend this morning that comes from Zimbabwe. They visited family there this last month. In her own words - it is as tough as nails. They only have power once a week. From 9 to 4 at night. They are not free. The live in poverty. Their government has stolen everything. They are living in the dark ages. They are 200 years behind the rest of civilisation.
@@eugenehlabangwane4183 And those who don't mine. Don't get anything. If the resources belong to the country. Shouldn't everyone in the country be benefitting. Since those smugglers are selling the gold on behalf of the government of Zim. Where does the money from the selling of gold go to?
Absolutely loved this video. Thank you for presenting your more in depth analysis of this situation. However, there is only 1 point a disagreed with, the President does talk about training and employing Prophet Angel as the 1st Ambassador at large on the 1st episode of this series. I look forward to watching you response on all 4 parts of the series
The Zimbabwean government must do everything to protect the land, in South Africa we think everything is good but we don't own our land , in the long run Zimbabwe will be left with Children who are wealthy because their parents didn't sell out , and our children here in SA will complain that we left them nothing
Penuel, it’s a pleasure to come across your channel. I’m a Sierra Leonean who lives in the USA. I like your takes on black-African personal responsibility in the areas of education, politics, business, and wealth creation for the development of Africa. Could not agree more. I disagree with you dismantling the ANC. The ANC frustratingly archaic, however, I believe pressure from young SA for change “might” be better than the alternative. Secondly, I disagree with your decision to join the Afriforum. I believe for someone like you who’s young, with such a ferocious intellect and a platform to engage your people, you should form an organization to galvanize your people to make the change you want to see. You will NEVER change the agenda of Afriforum; when you join them you lose your power and your ability to influence the agenda.
Nice convo guys.. @ Rutendo well done for the last 3mins of this...its a convo that needs to be had.looking forward to it... Pen thanks for taking the time to dig deeper in a place where people have already drawn conclusions..
Shouldn't we wait for all the episodes to drop, before we decide or dismiss the validity of the documentary? Its rather fascinating how people became so defensive after just the first episode...
That will be too much work!! If your opponent throws a punch, you don't wait for them to give you your turn to punch. You punch back immediately as a man!!!
@@zakhemabaso6644 in this case I think slow and steady wins the race... Reactions are fine, but to come with definitive conclusions as if all episodes have been released, is a presumptous. We might all be surprised by the end of this doccie, one way or the other.

Thank you Pen for such an amazing platform, very insightful conversations. As a Zimbabwean citizen staying in Zim l strongly disagree with Rutendo. 1) How can he say he doesn't know the appointment of Uebert Angel is an Ambassador at Large by Pres Mnangagwa saying its just grapevine.🤔 2) Which average house of 400 000 is he saying a lot of you Zimbabweans afford? these are lies, a lot of young Zimbabweans are in poverty. We have lots a lot of health care workers the last 2 years seeking greener pastures. 3) l strongly believe a lot of young Zimbabweans do not even know how to use an ATM. whats he talking about us able to withdraw cash. Which cash by the way? 4) Its 200 000 USD to get these Gold Licenses, how many Zimbabweans afford that amount? 5) Hopewell secured 50 dialysis machines for Zimbabwe something our gvt is not doing. @Penuel for better understanding lets also have Hopewell on the platform, someone not biased who will tell the majority/average Zimbabwean person's story.
After watching episode 1 of the documentary couple of days later I came across this podcast on my channel and I did not want to watch it because I was furious thinking how dare Zimbabweans are judging us South Africans yet there are in our country while such nonsense is happening in their country. But I must admit I was blind sided I don't know perhaps my trust had grew on trusting Al Jazeera. I mean if it wasn't for my friend who we share common knowledge, views, etc. with I was never gonna watch this. Thank so much @GodPenuel for such an informative podcast and God bless this man Rutendo Matinyarare, I wish he could be my mentor . . . There is a lot we need to learn as African people! Thank you once again for this!!!
Ive asked this before! No one else finds it odd that the Vice President of the opposition party is a commentator on this? I'm hoping this isn't another attempt of political unrest in Zimbabwe as the timing in itself is questionable, so close to elections. Furthermore, we need Rutendo on this show, again, again, again and again. Teaches us a lot and provides different perspectives supported by facts!
It now makes total sense and its a insightful segment of knowledge ...... These are crucial times and being knowledgeable because there is a lot of propaganda and mental disturbance with looking for one sided story
@@MissTeeDOTMHG why do u think the media felt the need to expose this? S/O Pen for the work you're doing man, I've learnt a lot since interacting with your content, I'm not a penuelist but I'd like to think I've become more resolute in my own convictions and also nimble in terms of assimilating new information.
As to Penuel. Thank you my brother for being yourself. So far I think you are the most objective person I know. I have never seen a person who address issues so objective as you do and please keep it up. I follow you my brother and watch almost every video you post because its all knowledge on your channel. I watched you getting rebuked by a lot of your guest but you don't show emotion on your face , you apologies if you have to and carry on with the interview in as good spirit as ever. Please keep it up my brother!!
I salute both african brothers, the assertive questioning from Penwell and the educational type answering from Rutendo.when such engagements occur I see the resurrection of the great Mwenomotapa kingdom, which is suppose to be SADEC, in today's term. Stay stronger brothers
🤣🤣🤣OMG, how can you say assertive questioning? There is no assertive questioning when there is no critical examination of Rutendo's statements by an impartial third party? This is the problem with us Africans we lack that critical thinking? Put on a third professional to question him and see him crumble like a cookie. Google The Basic Laws of Human stupidity and read it.
Rutendo says White Agents buy gold from Zama Zamas/Small scale miners, pay a government company to refine it, then sell the gold in Dubai. The problem is minerals belong to the people of Zimbabwe and Zimbabweans are supposed to benefit from the minerals in their country, not only the miners are supposed to benefit But all citizens.
Its either my concentration and comprehension was bad when I watched the Al Jazeera doccie OR we are being gaslit by Rutendo (I hope the latter is not the case).
I get that they need to bring cash into Zimbabwe but only a select few benefit! That part about the Zama zamas being rich is false cause why would so many Zimbabweans leave their country when they could be digging for gold and getting rich in Zimbabwe? He clearly trying to spin this but that part is laughable! 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
I hope Zimbabwean youth empower themselves by learning the process of playing a part in this wonderful opportunity presented to them by their country instead of going to the streets to protest for criminalization while losing out on getting some piece of wealth of Zimbabwe for Zimbabweans
This is why I ask people not to listen to Rutendo. If truly there were such opportunities available to Zimbabwean wouldn't we grab them? Truly, there are some who benefit from so-called opportunities but at what cost? You have to be partisan or join Zanu.
Very difficult conversation indeed given the compelling nature of the al jazeera docci, but I think having listened to Rutendo it gives a perspective that one won’t have unless you have context from the ground, it’s made me pause and not take that doccie “hook line and sinker” which I think is dangerous and sometimes creates conditions which lead situations like the one in Libya because we all support the narrative that has been built. We really need to wake up and begin to question everything because the nature of the internet is worse than television society easily gets radicalised online and you can get crucified by people who are not rational, this brings a perspective that restores my faith and hope that we must keep pushing as Africans towards bettering this continent against all odds
Pen I enjoy your show love your work. It's interesting how Rutendo is on this campaign for the removal of sanctions I would love for them to go the sad part about Zimbabwe is in the 40+ years of independence Which hv been lead by the Zanu pf government they hv numerous corruption scandals Willowvale, Grain marketing board etc which all before the so called sanctions. We can hide behind the sanctions however the Zimbabwe government has not made an effort to meet the requirements for these sanctions to go as a pple we the moment you raise your voice to demand accountability it met with imprisonment Hopewell raise the issue on covid funds n Gold smuggling being n got arrested. Rutendo with same energy hold the leader ship accountability because once the sanctions are gone this corruption we are seeing is going to be amplified. Revolutionary Parties will be Africas undoing ANC n Zanu pf hv the same mindset when it comes corruption no real accountability the crimes start small before you know it state capture = load shading no medication in hospitals no development.
Thank you God Pen. Don't give up on us..... I'd like to get Hopewell Chin'ono's opinion or perspective on the documentary as well as Rutendo can sound biased at times
So basically this is Africa taking its power back and to their demise some people just can’t handle it… Thank you for the information brother I’m sharing this and subscribing
Brothas THANK YOU!!! The vulnerability which Truth and Transparency can produce is Powerful. Black Pen,your guest was not only informative and highly knowledgeable, but so courageous. His candid disclosure gives us a starting point for earnest conversation if we sincerely want to arrive at solutions to the pervasive "relational disconnect" we are experiencing with each other. TRAUMA....gotta be treated We must find SOLUTIONS to this self implosion... I especially took notice of "'constructive corruption"' I see its viability...😁 Truly engaging and provocative
I honestly can’t believe Rutendo. Disappointing! Zimbabwe is under sanctions with the US Government. Zimbabwe is not under sanction with other power nations Russia , China etc so this can’t be an excuse really. We have grown to accept the corrupt behaviours of the ZANU PF, how about we create an open market in Zimbabwe to trade with both the legal and illegal miners. Dubai does it , to improve cashflow and tax efficiency within Zimbabwe. Stringent policy can be more relaxed. In illegal miners. My biggest concern is the this nonsensical behaviour only seeks to improve the UAE economy. From a capitalism perspective ZANU PF must be able to comprehend the stupidity in all of this.
YES been preaching this for years this clown is just an opportunist and a dangerous tribalist, other countries have Way more sanctions than Zim but are doing well
Rutendo is a young man with an old soul, his very good and articulate when addressing the injustices of the past but opposite when he has to call out the injustices that are currently happening in Zim currently..we can't always blame everything on white people let's take responsibility for once and be progressive in the way we think and do things...
What I took from this is that Rutendo is good at explaining how things should work but is not talking about what transpired in the documentary. Penuel was distracted from asking the important questions and when he did ask important questions the Rutendo went back to his story telling. Rutendo explain what happened not what should happen. It’s very difficult to get truth when the person conducting the interview isn’t negatively impacted by the scandal. eg, an interview conducted by the owner of the business is tougher than an interview conducted by some HR personnel who has no emotional connection to the entity.
@@Zwedish_bass the moment Rutendo said he said he has a pending business with Uebert Angel I knew he was going to play on defensive mode. The only thing I’m glad I picked up in this interview is how the understanding of how the gold sale process works in Zim. That much I can give it him
Agreed this Rutendo guy is very articulate and a master elocutionist. He is sly. He uses these to his advantage to throw an interviewer off the scent of the major topical issue.
Me with my little knowledge Rutendo is covering up everything mahn I watched that investigation two times to make sense of what’s really happening, now hearing him being selective on the investigation. He’s suspicious mahn
Peace, blessings and abundaces brother Pen. I would definitely love to hear more on what brother Rutendo might know or suspect about other uses of gold. I know that it is a much better conductor of electricity than the copper we currently use and, as he mentioned, was placed on the highest tips of some of these tall, ancient megastructures like the obelisks and pyramids. Please dwell more on that if there is chance next time. Thank you.
Just because Uebert Angel said I can carry 1.2billion through the airport and not be searched doesn't mean that's what he meant literally its just a metaphor to saying I can transport anything i want through the airport because I am that powerful ,he even goes further to saying I can put someone in a suitcase and not be searched nhai Rutendo zvaunoita sewakadzidza wani
Great & relevant interview Pen! But learn to acknowledge the points of your guest rather than simply moving along or changing the subject when he makes a good point. It makes you seem as though you don’t want to acknowledge not being aware of certain information…
Such wealth of information can never be if one doesn't read and dig for facts. Matinyarare I salute you for being a living library and being able to dish it out in the way you do.
As a person, Once you start having meetings with high profile criminals, high chances are that you may also start doing the criminal activities. Im just saying...
rutendo must be benefiting from zanu pf and illegal gold mining.. how can he justify individuals benefiting from the country resources instead of government for poor's to benefit also
The real issue is only a few individuals benefit from the profits of exporting this gold. This is what Rutendo fails comprehend. Its no secret that Zimbabwe have sanctions imposed to but at least the money should contribute to the development of infrastructure and combat social ills.
Rutendo first says Agents are buying g gold in Zimbabwe and selling it in Dubai then says again that there is only one company that can export but the Agents are not part of that mmca government company. What we see here is that miners are not allowed to export the gold but foreign agents of all different colors are allowed to do this and make billions while Zimbabweans are getting pennies. Also, Where is the proof that tax is being paid by these agents? How much tax? And where is it going? In such an impoverished country, where is the tax on the 125 billion dollar gold market going?
This is a very important point that no one is addressing. If you look at the amount of money lost from the deal that could be directed to Zimbabweans within this process it’s crazy. From the commission all the way to the discount being given
@Tatenda M You see, this government says the economy is suffering because Zimbabwe cannot trade due to sanctions.. Yet Zimbabwe is trading away its minerals just fine.

Why then if its Legal we have People in the Airport RGM who are doing deals on channelling the Gold to leave?
Dope interview, south Africa,Zim and drc need to make a cartal for gold to determine the price of our gold... Thanks to God pen and rutendo always make me to research after watching they conversation
This was Stella Pen. Much appreciated!!! Very insightful conversation
Rutendo advocates for the ANC though 😂
Shout out to God Pen for speaking in a language and explaining things that even for amajita ekasi would understand ❤
As long as these types of people are influencing public opinions in Africa, the continent will remain poor. Uebert said he could smuggle a total of 1.2 billion dollars and that he will be doing 5 million dollars every week. We are not fools.
Exactly, Africa is in trouble.
Me also applied in 2015 still waiting
I am enjoying how the guys are easily unpacking this issue. Big to you Pen for the platform
I LOVE THE WAY RUTENDO CAN DISSECT A TOPIC AND CLARIFY A SITUATION.
its all smoke and mirrors he is a zanu apologist ......
@@deanerickhumalo1480 what are the "facts", according to you, not spin?
Lol people get excited by good English speakers. This guy is a fraud .

What a powerful outro Penuel and an amazing conversation with our brother Rutendo
Good information as usual, this man is an African pride lets keep fighting go iAfrika mayi buye!!!
I wish you invite Rutendo at least with another scholar or political analyst then we can have balanced views
Pen, I'm glad you did this interview before I watch the documentary. Bigups.
I love this man, may God bless you a million-fold Rutendo.
Rutendo singing for his supper
Nice convo guys.. @ Rutendo well done for the last 3mins of this...its a convo that needs to be had.looking forward to it... Pen thanks for taking the time to dig deeper in a place where people have already drawn conclusions..
@The Black Pen, thank you very much for what you’re doing!! Great stuff, with all your videos!
Thank you so much Rutendo for giving us a broader perspective. You always discuss issues in great depth
Its mind boggling why someone wil defend corruption smugggling and looting in South Africa pple stand up for such things but you support and give ZIMBABWEANS who come to water down any attempts to make Zimbabwe a better country you want Zimbabwe to remain failing

Thank you Pen for such an amazing platform, very insightful conversations. As a Zimbabwean citizen staying in Zim l strongly disagree with Rutendo.
1) How can he say he doesn't know the appointment of Uebert Angel is an Ambassador at Large by Pres Mnangagwa saying its just grapevine.🤔
2) Which average house of 400 000 is he saying a lot of you Zimbabweans afford? these are lies, a lot of young Zimbabweans are in poverty.
Aaaah Rutendo amanga, to get that license you must pay someone, my brother applied and he has been waiting for years now
After watching episode 1 of the documentary couple of days later I came across this podcast on my channel and I did not want to watch it because I was furious thinking how dare Zimbabweans are judging us South Africans yet there are in our country while such nonsense is happening in their country.
This has changed from being corruption story to a beautiful story of our brothers and sisters finally benefiting from their countrie's wealth.
A beautiful story? 😢

At last a refreshing view. After watching the Al Jazeera documentary twice I have come to very similar conclusions.
This has changed my view on the whole documentary. Thank you! So many things have been left out and all for the reason of making Zim look terrible.
I think I need to first watch the documentary before I come back and watch this important conversation 🔥🔥🔥
I feel They(IMF)are trying to kill Zimbabwe’s gold trade cause its black and successful(inspite the sections)and they don’t have a cut in that trade!!
I'm glad you are enlightened unlike many folks here. The West have no power over Zim Gold
Most of Zimbabweans gold is owned by America
Mnangagwa's spin doctor👏👏👏👏

Thank you for this, my exact sentiments

rutendo must be benefiting from zanu pf and illegal gold mining.. how can he justify individuals benefiting from the country resources instead of government for poor's to benefit also
I'm surprised as well how the poor masses of Zim benefits from this gold trading?
Who are these miners. Are they not Zimbabweans?
Ofcourse these are the beneficiaries
Then you don't undestand!
