Many today are only interested in the things of this life which last only for a while, but when we receive and accept the Word of God, this will help us to live more and more in Christ because only the Wors can make us clean.
Seeking Jesus for temporal things alone is a clear sign that we want Him for what He can give us rather than for who He is. We sometimes value people only for what they can give or do for us. These are not quality relationships.
Often times we said, feed the people first and then give them the Word. But Jesus, give them the Word and then feed them afterwards. We tend to not follow Jesus doings, but our own leadings and that's why we think we can save people, but we must think again, give the people the Word and then feed them temporal food. Jesus said to them, you not only come to me because of the Word, but because you were fed with the temporal food and was filled. We must be careful that this doesn't happen to us then we are left empty and void of the Word.

We should seek the higher or best gifts and not settle for just mediocre things.
