Thanks for posting. One, when you order from the company with heavy cover, there is additional braces. Two the ends of the cover goes on before the end pole, this way the pull tight straps are on the inside. Three, the sun on the the top heats up the metal poles and cause the material to decay. Cover the metal tubes with outdoor water pipe tubes. Four, keep dampens out cover the floor in plastic sheet and then cover in gravel. Mine is 5 years old, doing well. I do not like no vents to let heat out.
Thanks for the info. Been looking to purchase a fabric shelter from them. A few of the videos that I have seen, they have the Shelter logic logo on the structures. And most were complaining that the fabric was showing wear after maybe a year of use. But I believe that when you purchase their product from outlets like Mernards, Home depot and such your getting the standard structure and fabric and not the more durable kit that you can purchase by going directly to their site. I'm looking at a 15×20×11ft barn style structure with the white ultra duty 21.5 ounce polyvinyl cover with 2 3/8" frame that runs about $3200.00 vs paying $3 to $600. I was born and raised in Arizona so I know about the extreme heat and for the past 40 plus years I've lived in Wyoming where we can get extreme variance in weather conditions and lots of wind. I could probably buy a prefab structure that size for twice the cost not counting a foundation of sorts and building permits or build one that would take some time since I'm not a youngster any more. So for the money, this maybe the rout to go but I will continue to research a little more before I make a final decision. Good info on your videos.👍😎
Glad you made this video and I watched. I've been wondering about what the yacth cover material and billboard material is. Looks like from a quick Google search that the billboard material might only be a 7oz vinyl with maybe 9oz at one time on the market. Yacht covers seem to be around ~12oz. The stuff in your video might be a 0.63 mills material and appears other vinyl tarp materials can be found at even higher weight. Neat! I got a free sewing machine that turned into 50+ last season sewing machine later, where some will be suitable for specific tasks and the others I need to donate and/or list online for free. 🙂

I might not get another winter out of my shed because the original 7.5 Polyethylene is not that strong and gets week after the first year. They should sell them in stores under a winter version. I bet they would sell lots in the snow belt. Cheers.
I have a 12 x 20 x 9 and the tarp material it came with lasted 4 years. I believe we paid $600 for it at Tractor Supply. The new cover we ordered for it in this 21 oz material weighed 110 lbs and cost $1600. It is supposed to last 15 years. If it does, then $107 a year sounds better than the $1600 does.
Hi, the weight of the tarp is Oz per square yard..so 8 Oz tarp is light. Would be 8 Oz per square yard. 21.1 Oz is very heavy and much better. Than 8. Or 14 oz.

Month for a 10x20 storage unit. So I. Looking to purchase one of these, to save some $ to maybe get a wooden large shed built. And no I may not need a 10x20 time I am done hopefully selling some things. So looks like it has been maybe 2 years from this video, how is it holding up? Thank you
Cover with metal siding material and should be solid. The videos I've seen note one or two have lasted through multiple hurricanes without added re-enforcement. Interestingly, the rest seem to all add some extra purlins and support studs. Still, with the added materials seems to be the most cost effective solid structure if you screw in the sheet metal right.
How much did the new cover cost? My original cover ripped...didn’t last very long. I don’t want to throw more money away....really disappointed with the quality
The original cover should be covered under warranty with free shipping. If you go with the upgraded cover you get a credit for the original one of $220 that goes to the upgrade. The first upgrade is a 14.5 OZ Poly-vinyl that would be $380 with the credit. 10 year warranty. The one in the video is the 21.6 OZ ultra duty Poly -Vinyl. 15 year warranty and will cost $616 with the credit.
I have a ten by ten Shelter Logic shed. it lasted about ten months and now the wind has ripped it apart. I tried to contact the Shelter Logic company and had no luck. I would like to know how to contact them to get a new cover for it. being as the frame is still in very good condition. otherwise I'm just going to take the shed down.
@@BearsWorkshop I live in chicago and my shed is in direct sunlight . And yes we get extreme sun /heat for sometimes 2-3 months which did a number on my basic cover, lasted about 2.5 yrs. Just upgraded to 14oz hopefully i get 10 yrs this time ?

Plastic water pipe tubing sounds like a great idea.
Put the bottom poles in and tie directly to the poles to pull it over the top. Stronger and less chance to wreck something. Great video.

Keep the frame and buy metal roofing panels. Attach 1 by 1 and you'll have a way better shed. I'm doing this after mines dies on me

Sure looks nice and heavy duty, but at damn near 3x the cost of the base shelter, it's a hard sell...
The original cover lasted a few months. If you are in a high sun area then it appears to be worth it as the original just won't last.

350 days of sunshine. Horribly hot for 4 months. Perfect the rest of the year. No snow, no humidity.
