He has some of the best lines, "The boss likes your fish...but me? I'm a vegetarian." ROFL. How can a line be so badass and hilarious at the same time?!
Combination of poor promotion, bad opening timming with other block boosters and not TOO well known cast Even though the last one is argueable, as you can see they are not too in the face of the movie And it was the time were either you advertise with A FACE or you got no attention Better said the beginning to the current resseted era of movies we are in rn In short, it didn't appealed to the blind and deaf audience so the production put no effort on assisting the rest of the developers in the movie
Not like those ordinary villains who fall on the hero's feet. One of the best villains so far..Killer No.2. I love his fighting stance, so cool......Kevin Mckidd is will be perfect to play 'The Riddler' from Batman.
Sooraj Sm I would've paid to see him fight Nicola. cuz all his fancy skills used on Yoshi. I would loved to have seen him against a man who's only signature move was throwing fucking axe.
No one's gonna see this but I'd like to call attention to the fact that i think Number 2 suffers from over sensitive hearing. he uses it as an advantage in battle but notice how he looks up when they're shouting at him. Yes you could argue there's just no use to using only his hearing but i think he switches from hearing to sight when he chooses to not use hearing because the noise is distractingly loud. Then there's a scene where Nikola and the lady (I can't remember the name) are cracking nuts. Every time a nut cracks, his ears ring and he looks physically pained. I think he uses rhythm and music as a way to concentrate and calm down. That and it's interesting that really, he doesn't talk much and when he does it's usually rather soft.
this film has a very euro sensibility to it which i love!! this film was amazing!! great stories, acting, characters, sets, lighting, camera work and more!!! wow! thanks!!
This is true. Chain-mail was made to counter slashers but a direct hit from an axe or arrow would make it useless. I think his sword was more like those hidden swords in canes. Maybe its a saber or some kind of fencing sword? I've seen straight katanas in those things too.
The Killer Number 2 may well be one of the greatest villains I've ever had the good fortune to watch...leading to that awkward moment when I wasn't sure who I wanted to win in his fight against Gackt =/
love the concept of killer 2's fighting style right hand traps left attacks throwing most people off, relies mostly on hearing so feints won't be as effective back foot kept slightly up for more mobility for either attack or defense.
i don't like how killer number 2 dies he actually does the worst thing in that fight against gackt which we all know just for the movies sake they kept him alive when clearly you saw killer number 2 was toying way too much and number one rule which is surprising for killer number 2 making that mistake was turning his back thinking his opponent was going to stay down.. very uncharacteristic of a great fighter that killer number 2 was... overall i liked number 2 he was the shit just one mean bad ass fighter
Killer No 2 mistake is that he's very arrogant, he understimates most of his opponents. True for most of the film, he is amongst the most powerful in town so there are little to no real fighters to challenge him. So during the fight with Yoshi, Killer No 2 thought he had beaten him up and he wasn't going to recover. I think he didn't know that Samurai are actually planning each movement beforehand... While Yoshi was lying the floor he was also looking for the perfect hit...
You can really track the growth of swords based on the armor the opponent would probably be wearing. Chain mail on up encouraged stabbing or hacking weapons, straight blades on both. Swords were generally terrible weapons for such armor, though, compared axes or spears. Killer 2's cane sword, though, is wielded all wrong for a thrusting weapon. But then, we don't see him hacking limbs off so it's believable enough. He uses it more as a club anyway. Maybe some iaijutsu tactics in there?
Does ANYONE know what song this is? The one where Killer#2 is introduced and they fight, etc. I have been looking everywhere for the soundtrack but it's not anywhere.
He's 5'11". Keep in mind he's Japanese and wielding a Japanese sword. A katana generally maxes out around three feet, with a weight of a few pounds. 3 lbs is a good average, though sometimes up to 5 lbs. And general use alternates between one and two handed. I think he can handle it. The katana is a finesse weapon, made for slashing. Works fine on unarmored opponents like in the movie, but against even chain mail, let alone plate, it's pretty useless.
Chandersson25 AFAK McKidd deliberately based his moves on Fred Astaire, because the character is supposed to be very flamboyant. Although he does look impressively convincing while using them and the film has good fight choreography.
That's what I thought when I held a sword. It surprised me how much trouble I had with it. The sword he carrys with him in the movie is surly plastic or a metal replica which is lighter. Its nice to see someone finally admit that a katana though its design and made very well isn't really all its cracked up to be. I prefer the European style swords myself. I had no idea Gackt was so tall but then not all Asians are short little ninjas.
Actually I do believe him to be a decent fight. Perhaps not a brawler but even he looks like he would break Gackt in real life. Do you have any idea how heavy a sword is in real life? Course they gave him a plastic one for the movie but I wish they would try alittle harder to make it believable.
Activists: Guns kill people. Government: your right, ban on all guns!! Activists: Yes!! We did it!! Hey, what's that guy doing? Me: oh he's coming to beat you with his bare hands. Activists: What?!?! Well is anyone gonna do anything? Me: How? You banned all guns. You're on your own. Hey, this is what you wanted. Now it's survival of the fittest. Good luck. Activists: Wait!! No!! This is what we wanted!! Help!!! 'Gets beaten to a pulp' Me: Dumbass
Low budget for sure. Everything is amazing. The low budget seems to make the movie better. I think if this movie had a big budget. The movie most likely would of been worse.
I don't like how one of the main reasons why people watch this is just for Gackt. Sure he's a big star but I don't believe hes this tough guy in the movie. He's really skinny in real life. I'm not talk Bruce Lee skinny I mean skinny skinny. They could have picked someone more believable.
Its not about the free publicity. You're talking about showing all the good parts of the movie so no one would by it. They'd just watch it on your channel.
love that the intro has origami puppets with bunraku puppetry...genius
Kevin McKidd steals every single scene he's in. Same for Josh Harnett, Ron Perlman, Gackt and Woody Harrelson. Damn this movie is awesome.
Killer no.2 is my all time favorite villian. Love this movie so much!
Chicago mafia from 30-ies ))
He has some of the best lines, "The boss likes your fish...but me? I'm a vegetarian." ROFL. How can a line be so badass and hilarious at the same time?!
As much as killer 2 is in this scene I fucking love Nikola's creepy calm attitude when he says "kill them all"
Bunraku was astonishing, I don't understand why it is rated so badly.
Same! I suppose it was too unconventional stylistically for your average basic movie goer...
Cause it is too unnecesarily long, and really boring. Style and visual are not the only things that matters in a movie.
@@Liece45 how is it boring, its really good storytelling, even on a rewatch
also exciting and really well choreographed fights
Combination of poor promotion, bad opening timming with other block boosters and not TOO well known cast

+Sooraj Sm Yes, I never thought it but you are right, he can use the cane so well

Narrated by Mike Patton

Killer Number 2! No one is better than him after all
This is true. Chain-mail was made to counter slashers but a direct hit from an axe or arrow would make it useless. I think his sword was more like those hidden swords in canes. Maybe its a saber or some kind of fencing sword? I've seen straight katanas in those things too.

I Love this movie sooo much! So aweosme! One of the best action movies I've seen in years.
love the concept of killer 2's fighting style right hand traps left attacks throwing most people off, relies mostly on hearing so feints won't be as effective back foot kept slightly up for more mobility for either attack or defense.
Gurlow he catches their rythm by listening
Killer #2 is such a great villain.
This movie had SWAG for days.
This would have done better as a tv show than a movie.
Hence the TV Series, Into the Badlands
A violent version of Smooth Criminal! lol
Have to say that Killer #2 really IS a smooth criminal. I was half way expecting him to do the gangsta lean.
Damn, he's left handed!!!
oops forgot to mention the right hand can trap as well, likely what the scarf in that hand is for.
@SumbleForever Hope it surfaces soon, before I forget.. :)
I really liked this movie, thanks for posting arguably the best part of it.
i don't like how killer number 2 dies he actually does the worst thing in that fight against gackt which we all know just for the movies sake they kept him alive when clearly you saw killer number 2 was toying way too much and number one rule which is surprising for killer number 2 making that mistake was turning his back thinking his opponent was going to stay down.. very uncharacteristic of a great fighter that killer number 2 was... overall i liked number 2 he was the shit just one mean bad ass fighter

That feel when killer #2 is not only Soap McTavish, but is also that guy with the hammer from Kingdom of Heaven. You know who I mean.

Number 2 Is cute 💋I wish he didn't die😢 I love this movie 😊
from a martial standpoint, it's a improvised mix of bartitsu, and dance hope this helps
Does ANYONE know what song this is? The one where Killer#2 is introduced and they fight, etc. I have been looking everywhere for the soundtrack but it's not anywhere.
@Flaylexfayte Shazam it

The movie is awesome, but I can't find the soundtrack.. Any ideas?
God. Why isn't there an official soundtrack release of this movie? >_
Ah ok, thanks! =)
Question! Does anyone know if Killer number 2 uses some kind of real life fighting style or if it is just improvised?
Chandersson25

Kevin McKidd & Ron Perlman! :} Yessss~
Soap MacTavish is Killer No. 2!
Sozin is Nicola!

'Gets beaten to a pulp'
Me: Dumbass
"A man's GOT to know his limitations." (Harry Callahan - Magnum Force)
A world without guns is a world where the hierarchy of power gets VERY lopsided.
Damn Angry Joe got fucked up
Low budget for sure. Everything is amazing. The low budget seems to make the movie better. I think if this movie had a big budget. The movie most likely would of been worse.
But then they would have to replace Josh Hartnett too. At least Gackt was taking people out with a sword. Hartnett as a brawler? Hah.
can someone please tell me the name of the song during the battle?
who can say how the music is called - 2:30 ?

this movie was fucking weird, in a good way.
thats all I have to say about it
