      I listened to reports that no one was catching anything on the 14th. So I cancelled my vacation. I kept watching reports. On the 20th I heard a few salmon were running but the Browns and steelhead were already in. I went to 18 mile looked in the water usually you can see fishing running up river. Nothing. That night it poured rain. Temps dropped. The next night I look in the water. Salmon and trout every where. Running hard. I got in the river and fish were smashing into me left and right. It was constant action. I was catching steelhead and browns on beads left and right. Dude fishing next to me caught a 17 pound brown. I switched to a pink and white jig and the salmon were slamming it.

The pics were the only fish we kept out of the probably 50 or more fish we caught. It is cold and raining hard. We only fished a few hours a day. Good times tho.

      Mi_Hookset I would love to set the hook on a king with one of my frogging bait caster rods. What set up do you use? And do you fish it with a float?? Or bottom bounce

    • @mihookset3596
      @mihookset3596 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Handberrydea I use a float for them. I’ve got a Daiwa tatula Ct reel on a 12 ft 4 in okuma baitcasting rod with 30lb braid, then my weight leader that’s 25lb fluoro with a 1/2 ounce weight, then my actual leader on 22 or 20lb fluoro to the hook with an egg loop knot for skein. We do the same thing for steelhead, just step down with lower test line and then run two beads!

    • @Handberrydea
      @Handberrydea  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mi_Hookset I want to start float fishing more with the center pin I just suck at it. A earth worm, bead or egg sack on a float is lethal for the drop backs in the spring. Thanks for sharing bud. You must fish late in the season or at dsr though. That setup is hard to fish when there’s a million guys in the river

      Deric Rood I used to really be against it but it’s worth the money to me just to beat the crowds. You can find fish anywhere in the river but it’s annoying to fish 2 ft away from other people who jump in your spot the second you chase a fish down stream.
