Lovely performance on a beautiful instrument. Such a contrast to the sound of a modern banjo. This sounds so much more acoustic and not at all tinny. 🤗
Jigs on clawhammer banjo are so interesting because the stroke feels like it's in 4 or 2, so you have to alternate emphasis on the claw and the thumb in order to achieve a 6/8 feel. Maybe more relevant to the Hard Times video. I love this series with Rhiannon Giddens!!!
Listened to Mark Weems version. Super hokey and flamboyant. Compared to Rhiannon’s refined stripped down rendition, I prefer the latter. Though I guess it’s not really about the arrangement considering your impulse for inane juvenile ridicule which, at the end of the day, has nothing to do with Rhiannon or her playing.
i cannot stop listening to this!!
We're so glad!

Fretless clawhammer is so awesome and love seeing young artists at it.
We do too!
Thank you Rhiannon Giddens for some solo banjo done very well.
Beautifully done!
wow! Please make more
Yes! We will be releasing more.
Wow. Lovely sound. If I had a nylon string banjo, I might not hate practising the banjo so much.
Wow- what an amazing experience! Such a pleasant thing to find in my recommended videos! The musicianship Rhiannon displays is so sublime!

That's just how I would play it; if I could play that thang.
What a lousy version.
Mark Weems version is far superior.
This lady is highly overrated.
Oh dear 😂
A very bold comment. I suppose I should go listen to Mark Weems.
@@yeoldebanjo5470 I wasn't trying to be rude but I like his version better. th-cam.com/video/GvSjOfsIp-s/w-d-xo.html
Show us how you play it then. If you can’t do that then you ain’t got the right to call anyone’s playing lousy.
