That was a good, fun watch 😁 I like the thought of being up off the ground with the possibility of wildlife passing by underneath! I bet it'd be lovely to do in the summer! 😊
My Tips: 1: Try a hammock under blanket rather than a mat. There's a lot of cold air flowing around you and these also insulate the sides outside the hammock so you don't compress the loft. 2: Tie some string on the lines to make rain water drip before it runs in. 3: Straps should hang about 30° from horizontal. (If you have the strap length) There are calculators. Optional: Hang the tarp diagonally to extend it further beyond head and toe. This also makes for just 1 point on each side to raise/support. on a 3x3 that's 4.5m which is often too long, but can be done. 4: You should sleep at a slight angle, not directly in line, this flattens you out. The final and most fun part is learning to climb trees with rope and harness, so you can hang it 30+ft up :))
Hi an thanks some great tips there, 👌 it was only my feet that ended up really cold, and that was down to bringing the wrong part of the sleeping bag and sleeping me insisting on pulling cover off them 👍
Hi Rob. That looked like so much fun. I wouldn't mind trying that in the summer. I think Danny's hot tent would be my fav for the cold weather though!😆
Cheers Steven, it was a brill night mate as soon as you said it it your vid my mind went straight to that spot 😂, I even walked long way back to film it 👍
@overthehilloutdoors hello there, if you have had an underquilt OneTigris you'd have a warm night, definitely, I've tried on -5 I've covered myself just with a wool blanket and I've had a warm comfy night, I'll prefer to hang at least 30cm from ground, sleeping on ground 🫣🫣🫢never, or avoiding for sure. Nice video 👍👍
That looked like fun. If your after a good tarp try lomo watersports. A British company based in Glasgow. 3x3 only £25 from their own shop. As good as dd and a lot cheaper 👌
Dinner looked ok. I'd say great if it were medium rare! I've never slept in a hammock before. Those hammock tents look pretty cool but a little exposed. Interesting to hear that it was comfy though. Looks beautiful out there😁
Brilliant...said to Danny on his that you must have been supping his Stella to set a hammock up...did look quite comfy though but you did remind me of one off those cocoon aliens in a pod in invasion of the body snatchers🤣...Well done for surviving it, that is if it is you and you have not been body snatched...Danny has not been body snatched cos I don't think they make hammocks that big...but if he keeps eating his salad you never know...will stick to looking for waymarkers so don't get me started on grid covers...Enjoyed it Rob...Cheers Les.🙂👍
