Thanks a lot, Vince. This is the part of your strings series which I could get the most out of. I like the approach of layering runs with tremolo or trills and the pitch shifter. I usually stick to "manual" runs with CSS marcato legatos. From time to time I use the free Violin Runs from VSL. The tricky part is the end of the run to leads smoothly into the main string part again.

Great info as usual. I've never tried layering trills/trem patches with my runs, will have to try this out.

Great examples, especially the last one with the SWAM violins layered with CSS. I use the CSS Marcato method too, but one historic gem of a library I've held on to is Cinematic Studio's predecessor to CSS, called CS2. It has a runs mode that overlays trills with spiccato, much as you demonstrated. The amount of trills 'messiness' is controlled by the mod wheel. Really quite effective! I was surprised it wasn't carried over into CSS.

Cool! It might be possible to recreate this setup using the grumpy monkey x fade tool! Although less precise than manual layering

Nice Vid! Please note with CSS Legatos, one could/should use sustain pedal for smooth, quick programming...:))

This is good, Vince. I notice you dusted off Chamber Strings for a demo. Do you use it much?

I think I might've just found it. Is it LP Colorizer, perhaps? If it isn't, it looks like it could accomplish the same thing. Seems to be on a BF sale, but damn if I ain't tempted ;)

@@vRoMe0 You're welcome! Playing with the demo. Makes quite a big difference, but still undecided.

Great info! Which breath controller do you use and if it’s very expensive what would you recommend for a best value type of controller. I like the idea of using it for strings like this but I’m seeing some for $800 and that seems crazy

Breath and Bite 2 - I use bite for vibrato depth and control the vib speed (if it exists) with mod wheel www.tecontrol.se/products/usb-midi-breath-bite-controller-2
