I have SO many questions. Love this video! 1. At the very beginning, what is that siren?? 2. 1:53 - What were they building? 3. 4:00 - Where is that walkway!? I don't recall ever seeing that. Was it removed before 1997? 4. 4:17 - Is that Harold Washington Library being built? 5. 11:40 - It's surreal to see Block 37 being torn down. Who'd have thought then how long it would sit empty?
+Rick Aiello Hi- sorry for writing back late. Q1: there was nearby construction somewhere. Q2: this building at Clark-Lake is the 203 North LaSalle building. Q3: the walkway at LaSalle-Van Buren still exists- connects the Chicago Options Exchange with the Board of Trade. Q4: yes, it's the Harold Washington Library. Q5: what's just as surreal is the O'hare Express terminal that in 2017 continues to sit unused under Block 37, and a literal money pit! Thanks for writing me.
Yes. There was still A/B skip stop service in 1990. However, with decline in ridership in the early 1990s, the A/B skip stop service was eventually phase out by early 1995.
unreal... i can't get over how you took so much video back then.
Just to think, I graduated high school a month later from when this video was filmed😊

The 6000 series train stopped running in December 1992.

Did they still have A and B trains back then?
Yes. There was still A/B skip stop service in 1990. However, with decline in ridership in the early 1990s, the A/B skip stop service was eventually phase out by early 1995.
You beat me to my next question, which was when A/B ceased.
Yes
Randolph/Wells? Where? Since when? For how long?
QuarioQuario54321 They tore down the stations some years ago, but I do remember it well and I'm 39 years old.
QuarioQuario54321 I've never heard of a Randolph/Wells station. I wasn't even born around that time.
D'Angelo Hartley They tore it and Madison/Wells down in order to open Washington/Wells
Shouldn't that train be retired by then?
A funny revelation, in Chicago, we always get off the trains and look both ways, hahaha I guess to find the closest steps
Yup!
Not really missing chicago might see new york city before chicago.
