I grew up with a single mother. I seen my father two times as a child. The first time he took me to the fair. I remember being scared my little jelly shoes would fall off on the Ferris wheel. (First time I heard this song was at the fair seeing Jackson Dean!) The second time I seen him he took me fishing. I kept getting my reel stuck in the trees when I was casting, so he said let’s skip rocks instead. Never seen him again till I had a child of my own. He gave me a gold necklace with a cross on it. Not long after he killed himself at his kitchen table. People have said I’m crazy that I believe you channeled my father. I’ve never heard this final verse except for this live version of Heavens to Betsy. It is now absolutely without a doubt my father. Why was the final verse not kept on the record? Edit: Also take a minute to appreciate how well these two men can perform a song. I watch Brandon tune that guitar to different keys to match Jackson’s voice throughout fearless…it amazes me. Keep Climbing you guys!!! I am just in love with the music!
I too want to know why they would ever leave that verse out! In my world, it’s my big brother looking down and it fits like a glove. Your dad is anywhere you believe him to be. I swear! Love is the greatest. Even from beyond.

I saw him open up for Brothers Osborne in Boston this past Thursday night. I never heard of him before but I thought he was really good. Brandon is an excellent guitarist too.
