I tried this but my battery charger was beeping ;Error wrong polarity, I looked everywhere to find an unpainted earth that the leads will reach, but ever metal part is painted, (apparrantly paint is insulater non conductive) is there a safe place to find an earth from this spot, sir?
Dead battery could not open boot on 1999 clk 320 breakdown guy came but could not power up to open boot. Spend over an hour on the phone to find out how to open trunk. meanwhile I googled and found this site and told him how to power up under hood. worked first time. Had to turn ignition on and off then hold remote open for a few seconds and boot opened. great, thanks guys.
Thank you guys! This trick worked for me on my yr 2000 CLK! :)) First nothing after connecting w extra battery and jumper cables. But after inserting the key and turning the power on & off the trunk popped open w remote key. Saved me a lot of hassle and time - and naturally A LOT of euros. Thanks again.

You guys are the BEST!! As usual I checked a few TH-cam sites to diagnose why the truck of my 1999 CLK320 won't open. After watching this video I turned on the engine and inserted the key from the fob into the trunk lock and VOILA...truck unlocked. I also had my girl sit on the truck. It appeared the latch needs some grease so it doesn't stick again. Should I use WD40 or mechanics grease to lubricate? This is the third time I found solutions to my car's problems on you website. hi there yes I've just had the same problem I took battery off closed the boot .then realized maybe a problem getting the boot open I could remember r a c man doing a similar thing many years ago any way I charged the battery up opened the car with my key manually up the Bonet went to the small black box on passenger side as discussed in this video I couldn't get my large jump clip to fit so I bought a small clip put it on the terminal and then put my jump leads to this and then put my key in the ignition turned it and I used botton on centre console to open the boot and yes thank God it worked after lengthy time struggling with boot lock it works as described in the video for me ime really pleased thankyou so much many thanks Richard
Love what you show you have helped me with my CLK430 many times.What I am trying to do is fix the drivers side seat release. When I lift the handle on the side of the seat to get to the back seat, the drivers seat does not move forward. Do you have a video to fix this seat issue????
The seat works perfect, with all the controls, except when you move the seat back forward to enter the back seat, the seat does not slide forward automatically. It did work until the gorilla at the car wash pushed it forward without using the handle. Of course they said I brought it in that way......

Dad accidentally left the headlights on overnight and car wouldn't start this morning, fortunately he could use another car today. Mercedes Roadside Assistance sent an incompetent person to jump the battery. The manual key didn't work in the trunk lock. Then he was rude & impatient; left after ~30-seconds (this after waiting over 2-hours for him to show-up!)! My Mom told me the issue, I went out to check for myself that the trunk lock was non-functional. Then I found your video. We texted the guy, who told us not to message him and that the car needed to be towed! Seriously, the guy didn't know his job. Told my Brother about your hack; he then put in a 2nd call to Mercedes Roadside Assistance, but the call wasn't assigned to anyone so he eventually used AAA. By the time they arrived (less than 1-hour), Dad was home. The AAA guy started trying to mess w/ the area beneath to glove box (that had crossed my mind, but Brother told me that the car doesn't have that valet lock feature) and lost a part (seriously, they were all less than stellar). When I headed outside, Dad was showing him the video. I already found the positive pole, but a bit tricky to get the plastic covering off; the guy used a flat-head screwdriver. He was able to give a charge from a portable battery and Dad used clicker, which opened the trunk. Then instructed the guy to jump the actual battery in the trunk; car started w/o issue and ran it for ~1-hour. TLDR: Your hack allowed us to get 2002 CLK 55 AMG trunk open in order to jump actual car battery. Mercedes Roadside Assistance & AAA didn't know how to do this. You saved us from potentially having the car towed to the dealership to have them figure it out. Thank you! :)

Did you ever get your truck open? If you have the original blade key, there’s a chance. Spray WD40 or a good lock oil into the truck’s key cylinder. Get a good pair of vise grip needle nose pliers. Insert the blade key into the trunk lock cylinder and attach the vice grips. Gently giggle the lock, attempting to turn the key. The vice grips will give you extra grip but be careful. I can’t remember if it’s push the lock button in to (turn the key) unlock it or just turn the key without pushing. If you get that blade key to turn, that lock will open. Caution on how much force you use. Work the oil into the lock and gently jiggle the key until it turns without much effort.

Hi. I own CLK(A208) 430 Cabrio, 2000 YR. Soft top is working without any problem. But I have trunk opening issue. I guess something wrong with roll over bar. When opening top the roll over bar is automatically rising up. When top is closed trunk is not operated by remote swatch inside. Trunk only can be opened by holding down roll bar switch and trunk remote switch simultaneously. Please help me. Thanks.

Same here. My alternator went bad. So I had to unhook the battery to replace it. I closed the trunk because it started raining. Now I can’t get back in, even with this method. Did you ever find a fix?
Thanks for doing this video. It didn't work for me but it might be because the fuse for the trunk release switch is blown and that fuse is in the trunk, not under the hood or by the driver's side door. How dumb is that? I remember hearing a slight buzzing sound when it used to work opening it with the electric console switch or the key fob button. It makes no noises now when I try with either of those buttons, so I think that the fuse is no good. Any idea if the back seats can be taken out easily to get into the trunk area to press the emergency button. It's a cabriolet so the seats do not fold down. I'd rather not have to drill out the lock but I'm just about out of options. :(
HELLO I own a 2005 Chrysler crossfire its basically a Mercedes slk I bought car for $1700 and there are a few problems I cannot open the rear hatch its a hard top and I cannot crawl inside rear its a 2 seater. the remotes only flash the lights and will not lock doors I programed both remotes still only flash lights I tried the central lock button still nothing and I checked fuses all fuses are ok I see someone has gotten to the fuel door and has removed the locking pin so I can put fuel in . also the radiator fan does not work and the light on dash shows radiator on left side of cluster right side shows another light which is yellow looks like a circle with dots around it looks like a sun. I don't know if you can help me air condition also does not work but I can fix that later. thank you since Chrysler built this car from 2004 to 2008 it has a unique body on it but an SLK running gear and 3.3 engine. I really like this car once I get things fixed. the clear coat is also peeling in places but its a project car. thank you

Does the seat still fold forward fine? Can you move the seat with the motor buttons? A failing forward-back motor in the seats is a common problem.

how do you open the boot and doors on a 500 series 1998. Battery dead key turns lock but nothing opens as got double seal and it is holding it tight?
