Dude I just gotta say your editing is insanely clean! @7:30 The endless inventory edit with not a single jumpcut on the smoke in the background (while also going normal game speed seamlessly)! Your videos are so well made with meticulous attention to detail I just wish the game was more popular so people can see your work! Also thanks for the info, never knew the combination chance played a VERY huge part for the starting stats. Keep up the great work boss I very much look forward to more of your videos, MR2 or not!
These secrets are gold and took me almost 12 years discover them. When I was 10 years old, I always wondered "how the hell can I train a monster with excelents stats and nice chain techs?" and later with 22 years, with more patience I started the game again, and the experience was really different. This game is really a masterpiece, my favorite game in all time.
Dude, Since many TH-camrs and streamers playing this recently I started searching MR2 related stuff. And wow, this is something new to Me even after playing it for over a decade I've never seen or heard anyone talking about this in-depth. This is really useful since I always question Myself why the stats doesn't get carried over and You've cleared it up with a very detailed and well put together video.
Yo! You are the real deal! With MR2 videos posted 10 years ago, I admire your dedication for this wonderful game. MR2 is the best to play during Quarantine with the whole family using the internet! 😅 Thank you for this! 😊
Man, you are a pro! This community needs a person like you. The combining system is one of the most complex things i ever saw in a game, looks like a true ps1 thingy, even harder than digimon world 1 breed. Thanks to you I finally understood it!
You re-live our childhood memories. Stumbled upon this video because was browsing Monster Rancher upon the game re-launch this fall. You re awesome, teawch!
I'm glad I came across your video just when I decided to start playing Monster Rancher 2 again on ePSXe a couple of days ago. I did try to brush up on my MR knowledge a bit with FAQs and I mostly know most of what you put in here. Nevertheless, having a video guide is really helpful for future reference. :D The one thing I didn't know was the "lower monster breed offspring chance = higher stats". Guess that explains why my Ducken/Suezo (2% chance) has 400-500 starting stats (from Tiger/Hare (999 stats across the board) + CD untrained Ducken/Suezo) and my Jell/Plant (11% chance) only has 200-400s (from all-999 Jell/Monol + CD untrained Gali/Plant). Both pairs have correct stat orders. Will remember this bit in my future combining endeavors. XD Based on the amount of effort you've put in this video with the seamless editing and whatnot, I feel that you're really passionate about this game. Hope you continue to make more video guides in the future since this game is pretty timeless. Thanks so much. I'm interested to know what's your go-to combining seasoning. Do you think the additional stats given by Crab Claw/Pixie chips/etc are worth it or you're better off adding +1 training boost or battle special? I'm partial to adding Hare chips myself since Grit is a gamechanger. You just gained a sub. Keep up the good work! :D
I'm glad you found my video helpful! The combining seasoning I use depends on the situation If I was making a Durahan, I would pick the +1 boost in leap I'll be training that over 100 times. If I was going for lower % chance (like below 4%) I would use the corresponding Disc Chip to lower the chance. If had to pick one, my go-to item would be Crab's Claw because that gives the most stats I prioritize stats over battle specials, but if I had to choose a battle special, it would be Grit or Ease (Ease lowers guts cost by 33%, allowing me to spam techniques)
Steven Rector I recommend ePSXe Here's a step by step tutorial: www.fantasyanime.com/emuhelp/epsxe If you prefer a video tutorial: m.th-cam.com/video/zCRVnslkf6k/w-d-xo.html Please don't reply to this comment, start a new comment thread and I'll be happy to reply. I read all comments on my channel.
Best tutorials as always! I always thought that a stat multiplied by his multiplier cannot exceed 999, and they tie break by they natural stat order. Excellent tutorial, and we can see the work you put on editing. Great work
I used to watch your videos years ago to help me when I was stuck playing the game as a kid. Today the Japanese port to the switch got announced and made me think of your videos, only to see you're still uploading ! your dedication is amazing, and thanks for always making such clean guides
Currently replaying Monster Rancher 2. I don't know if I'll ever go with the technicalities of combining but this is a good knowledge to have. Thanks very much!
I wish it wasn't so complicated that I had to look up external tools and such, but then I also felt that way for the monster unlocks. It's really impressive to see good results from combining, after most of my results were marginal at best. Thank you for making this, I'll try to plan a combination for good starting stats and special/tech inheritance.
My 8-year old brain back in 2000 did not realize the intricacies and tedious planning required to create the perfect baby monster. I was just happy my Kato turned a blue color after combining for the first time 😂
This takes me back to when I was playing the game. I fell in love with it as a child (apart from the time when my first monster died!!) then I went back to it in my early teens and got into the mechanics. Back in the day all the information was at Monster Rancher Metropolis and Legend Cup, I'm astonished the latter is still going. The best I managed was a totally maxed out Knight Mocchi since it was easy to raise and well-rounded, but I'd have loved to do something like a Durahan or a Dragon instead. Never had the patience for something like freezer raising method... This is a very straightforward and easy-to-digest explanation of the _arcane af_ combining mechanics, and the editing is spot on, very consistent with the game's artstyle. Thanks to the Steam rerelease it looks like I'm gonna be playing through this yet again. I'm honestly surprised there's still so much interest in it after all this time. Maybe that's part of the reason the rerelease even happened.
I love these videos. I've never played this game, I've wanted to for ages but cannot for the life of me find a proper ROM. Hope you'll continue making these, I love seeing old games still have some really dedicated fans!
This game released before internet is a thing. I still remember me and my friends played and discussed our training method everyday. Sadly that day is over nowadays we just yahoo it, umm, google it away.
Inheriting stats: Requires advanced mathematics, a PhD in Rocket Science, and a masters in theoretical physics. Inheriting techs: Just make the 1st monster the same species as the baby lmao
I spent years playing this game (play it even still today) and i won all un game tournaments available with almost every monster, i thought i know everything about this game but never knew this combining trick... I watched this video countless times and i still dont understand it 😵 Still, thx for sharing the last great secret! Will eventualy figure it out.
Hi teawch, I've seen all of your videos and I have to say, it's incredible and the effort you put into this makes me speechless. If you don't mind, can you make a guide about how to raise monsters from E to S tier? Or maybe a video about which breeds are most compatible with another? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for providing ideas for new content. Would a guide on raising monsters from E to S tier be different from beating the game with a monster? Or is it more battle focused or focused on a monster's stats for each grade?
Thanks for the information, so in a basic way , you have to decide what the child is, then make the parents status align for a great combination for the child , it also means if you want a powerhouse, you need to pick the parents that are good in the same status or it will not align .
@@UNGGodYT Mock and Plant Disc Chips give +10 lifespan to a monster. Those 10 weeks are distributed throughout the monster's lifespan. If you can effectively use those 10 weeks to gain stats higher than you would with other combining items, then you would use Mock/Plant Discs. Note that in those 10 weeks, only around 2 weeks are added to the Prime stage (depending on the life type), so in many cases, you won't be able to use those 10 weeks to gain more stats than you would with other combining items. For example, Gaboos have abysmal Ski and Def gains and it's super hard to get +50 Ski and +50 Def with those 10 extra weeks, so Crab's Claw would be a better choice. Also, some Disc Chips grant a battle special that won't be present on the monster unless you use that disc chip (like using Hare's Disc Chips to give a Pixie Grit, so that she has a chance to survive an attack while going full glass cannon)
Damn bro. Didn't knew this game was so deep before. This explanation would've blown my 9yrs old brain. I never knew that there are these kind of calculations being considered.
Hey Teawch I am having an issue with combining. I made a Zuum/Joker and a Tiger/Monol and corrected their stats. I was aiming to correct the stats for a baby Zuum/Tiger but it doesn't matter if the two monsters aren't working correctly/aligning properly. Their stats are: Zuum/Joker The order should be Ski / Lif / Pow / Spd / Int / Def Lif 521 or 521 3 Pow 515 or 515 3 Int 202 or 202 3 Ski 361 or 541.5 4 Spd 312 or 312 3 Def 183 or 183 3 Tiger/Monol The order should be Ski / Lif / Pow / Spd / Int / Def Lif 527 or 263.5 2 Pow 522 or 261 2 Int 160 or 240 4 Ski 349 or 523.5 4 Spd 256 or 256 3 Def 214 or 214 3 And the baby Zuum/Tiger is Ski / Lif / Pow / Spd / Int / Def I used JW Cooper' Calculator all is green and good to go but I am still getting an unsure. I changed JW Cooper' calculator to hard mode and it changed Tiger's Lif to a 3 so I had to adjust his skill level so that all was green again. it brought me up to a good but it's still not great when I did the combination a second time. Tiger/Monol The order should be Ski / Lif / Pow / Spd / Int / Def (With Hard mode enabled) Lif 527 or 527 3 Pow 522 or 261 2 Int 160 or 240 4 Ski 358 or 537 4 Spd 256 or 256 3 Def 214 or 214 3 After I raised his skill up it changed from an unsure to a good. I did a test with two other monsters and followed the calculator and I ended up with a great this time?
I'm guessing you're playing on Alchius' Hard Mode version of the game. Alchius' modified the stat gains of several monsters (see patch notes) For these monsters, you need Hard Mode enabled in the combination calculator
Before I enabled Hard mode I had all of their stats green and good to go but it still wasn't working in the actual game, I was getting an unsure. I got this version of monster rancher 2 off coolroms , the cheats folder labels it as SLUS_009.17 Isn't that just the normal USA version? I had no idea what enabling hard mode did in the calculator. I just changed the calculator to hard mode to see what would happen and seen that tigers life changed from a 2 to a 3 so I adjusted his skill and for whatever reason the combination became better. Even if it was Alchius' hard mode version of the game, it still didn't give me a great combination. Even though all the stats match up properly. I didn't download Alchius' modified version of the game, it's just an iso off of coolrom.com I was also wondering what all increases stress outside of training? in your durahan video , apparently scolding a monster increases stress by 16? what about not praising it for winning a battle or declining a request like meat from it? So that I can keep his style at even and also regulate stress at the same time.
If I do have the wrong version of the game , can you link me to a website where I can obtain the proper version of the game where I can have perfect combinations without any issue? I'm sorry about this , It's been a long time since I've played monster rancher 2 and I would love to actually master it. I appreciate any information that I can get.
The version from coolroms is the right version. The only place to get Hard Mode version is from Alchius and the calculator just changes the stat gain values to correspond to the new stat gain values when Hard Mode is enabled. How did you get your Tiger/Monol? If it's through a cheat code, it might be possible that the cheat messed up the stat gain values.
Yes I used cheat codes to get the monsters. Well .. I am not going to worry about it too much. if I get two monsters that don't work even after being corrected. I will just try to change their stats and see if the combination becomes any better. If it doesn't I will move on and try two different monsters and match them up again. I tested two other monsters , a zuum/zuum and a zuum/hare and just corrected the zuum/hare to match with the zuum/zuum and this time it said the outlook was great. I have no idea why the zuum/joker and tiger/monol didn't wanna work. other than , maybe it's because I used cheats or some other reason. I'll just keep aligning new monsters and see if I can make greats. Is there any information that I can find about stress? I know that training increases stress by 5 or 12, what about when I scold it or don't praise it or decline to play or decline to give it meat? I want to be able to keep my monsters style at even while keeping it's stress down. Your durahan guide said scolding increases stress by 16 , I also seen somewhere else that if the monster is dissapointed it gains 4 stress and if it becomes angry it gains 8 stress. I am not all too sure though
knowing all the secrets of the game by reading them online made the otherwise quite hard game feel so easy it wasn't designed properly. really the ratios were meant to be secret which each player has to figure out on their own/with their friends. they didn't make it very obvious though, as pretty much only hint about it in game is the combine guy judging the success of the comination.
Great vid! I do have a few followup questions if you're still checking these... Can you "chain" the battle special inheritance? Like say one of the parents inherited a battle special that it's main type doesn't normally have, can it still pass that down to a new offspring? (Say, trying to get a Golem/Arrowhead, if the second parent is an Arrowhead/Suezo with Ease, could it pass on Ease?) Also, can you "skip" techniques in a chain by passing them down? Like can you pass down the third tech in a chain without the second one, or do they have a set order/priority?
Yes, you can chain battle special inheritance. Each battle special has a chance of being inherited (besides Power, Anger, Real, and Unity). The chances of inheritance are higher if they're inherited from parent 1 than parent 2. You can only skip the 1st technique in a chain. For example, a Zuum can inherit Bite-Throw and MillionBites without inheriting Bite.
Oh, and i read that combining item that unlocks new monsters via combining cuts the baby's stats by half, and if they go below the base stats, they mantain the base stat
I think that's because it brings the combining chance up to 100. I'm unable to work out the exact correlation between combining chance and stat reduction yet. I just know that stats are insanely high once you go below 4% and parent stat gains also play a role in the baby's stat gains. For example, a parent monster having 800 in a stat with a stat gain of 1 will give the baby higher stats than a parent with stat game of 3 in the same stat (assuming great combination with matching stat order)
i just started the game again with my ps1. i didn’t expect this game is gonna be so complicated, i’m feeling overwhelmed. it’s supposed to be easy and chill type of game lol
1 - what a monstrous knowledge of the mechanics? How to discover all this? Where can I get all those info on what's under the hood? 2 - that's some great editing, huh? What tools you use?
1. Part of it from this guide: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps/197977-monster-rancher-2/faqs/41787 Part of it from trying to figure out errors in that guide Part of it from playing around with Tsmuji's Combination Calculator: jwcooper.net/combination-calculator Part of it from reading TH-cam comments Part of it from Alchius on Discord 2. I use Camtasia Studio 8.4.4 and Adobe Photoshop
This game probably some Tecmo masterpiece, i mean look this in-depth system like this per monster, raising monster or animal game now a day don't have something like this
Damn, I love this game so much! I played like 400 hours in my teen days, but never could beat the game (my monsters ended up dead because I did not knew that I could freeze them and combine with other ones) Then I come back to the internet, to see if someone still plays it! Could you please make a guide in how to train a pixie? I also would love to train a Kokushi Muso, they were my favs. TY so much for the videos
@@teawch thank you a lot! I can surely wait! I know that this tales a long time, thanks for considering my request 💜. Also, I'm looking foward to the Durahan one ^-^
@@teawch looking forward to it! ive read somewhere that H.A.D. (Henger, Arrowhead, Durahan mains /sub) monsters have bonus benefits on nuts oil, and thinking what it change to training patterns. Thank you for all your tutorials!
Thanks for the great video. Sorry if this was already asked, I tried to read through the first hundred comments or so and didn't see it. What is the difference between base stat order and combined stat order? Most of the time they are the same, but what if they are different? In the video you seem to only refer to base stat order? (according to the table you linked in your description)
Base stat order is the order of the base monster. For example, a fresh Mock starts with very high life stat, so Lif is the highest stat according to base stat order. The base stat order is used to determine the stat order of the parent monster when there's a tie when the correct stat order of the parent (1:54) Combine stat order is the stat order to aim for when you want this monster as baby from combining (8:26)
Seeing a baby monster with 600 stats widened my eyes quite a bit. Well now I just feel like a jackass for trying to get through with unbred monsters and stat gain stuff.
I... never knew about such stat orders. No wonder back then my combined monsters are always mediocre (in around 150-200 stats) even though the parents are S ranked with stats around 800s
This is crazy. I had hoped for years that someone would find and extrapolate the growth tables from these games! Do we know if these are similar/wildly different from other games in the franchise? I would love to see more like this done, especially for MR4, if it could be pulled off.
I don't play other Monster Rancher games, but as far as I know MR2 is the only one with this system. In MR4, stats are determined by the 2 parent monsters' compatibility and stats
I, along with many others, once thought the growth rates for different breeds could be extrapolated in this game. However, Alchius of Monster Rancher Discord probed the game's data and discovered that the growth rates were hard coded by breed. Kurasu's FAQ at Gamefaqs is still useful, but the most accurate and up to date information is at the Discord. You would think there is a formula for base stats, but there isn't. It's all hard-coded.
Thanks to this video I have finally created a solid combination monster It's a Dragon/Henger with 228 life 504 power 393 int 395 skill 515 speed 268 def It's not perfect, because I was bottlecapped by using a Dragon/Dragon and Golem Henger (they both have garbage speed and Speed is the 3rd highest stat in Dragon/Henger) but I'm very proud of it nonetheless. I was going to use this baby to win my first Legend cup but ironically I ended up claiming that with Doombot (the Gobi Golem/Henger I was raising as combo fodder for this baby lol)
Congratulations! Although it's not perfect, it's really good. You should be able to raise your Dragon/Henger to max stats since its starting stats are really high
@@teawch Thanks dude! I kinda don't want to use him lol I'd be really sad when he goes. I'm going to raise a Jell into something mean as well, I'm thinking Jell/Plant because dragons have a terrible lifespan
@@teawch Okay so my dragon is 950 in every stat with 999 life, my last question is, should I make his form even? I read that the bonuses from form don't exceed level 20 so I don't think my Evasion is benefiting from being skinny but it seems like it's making my defense tank for no benefit, is this true?
Metalner Disc Chips give +50 Fear, which means +25 Loyalty. Since I was going to use my Tiger to battle starting from week 1, I wanted to start with some loyalty to decrease the chances of foolery
ah I see. Make sense, more loyalty is more useful than more stats with that perfect engineered baby tiger. btw, having 1 more video about H.A.D breed might be good. (Henger, Arrowhead, Durahan) HAD breeds loves nuts oil by default and can have slightly more intense training schedule. Your channel already like a wikipedia (video-pedia) of MR2. Great job and thank you so much for making this.
I started to play this game almost 20 years ago and I am still enjoying to play this in my phone until now. I never knew of this things so this is very helpful to me. If you can also make a video about the lifespan because I know there are monster that can live up to 8 to 9 years but all my monsters only lasts for about 5 years or so. Thank you in advance.
@@hervinmario I always give all my monster a golden peach but I never have silver peach since most of them died 4 to 5 years only. You can get the silver peach in the elders cup right and it requires at least 6 or 7 years to get in that tournament.
Try this method, give your monster each week every month nuts oil - mint leaf - nuts oil - mint leaf, and try to stock 2 or 3 gemini's pot in inventory to prevent further stress (just for prevention). By using this method you can do 2HD-2LD or 3HD-1LD every month without being stressed. and remember always give him tablet, every month. and one thing, battle required 3weeks lifespan.
DennyVill Gameplays Ok, I answered your comment on my other video. Please let me know if you do anything differently, especially Step 2. You have to Run CDROM, not Run ISO
Excellent video, thank you for making this. My only question is, if I have a monster who's stats dont 100% match the baby I intend to combine for, should I align the other parent to the baby or to the first monster? I'm okay with a less than perfect result (the first 3 stats align), I just wonder which method will yield better results? Thanks!
It doesn't matter. Both yield similar results. However, the position of the stats that don't align matters. If the stats that don't align are the first stats in the order, the results would be lower than if the stats that don't align are the last stats in the order. For example, if the correct order is Lif>Pow>Int>Ski>Spd>Def Lif>Pow>Int>Ski>Def>Spd will yield better results than Pow>Lif>Int>Ski>Spd>Def
@@teawch Thanks for the response! I aligned the stats of Monster #2 to the baby's stat order and got decent results. Next time I'll have to pre-plan the combination and see what kind of stats I can achieve.
So I got a question. Does the stats of the parents monsters matter in a high number sense? Like, if we have all the stats in the correct places, does it matter how high they are? Will 2 parents in the average 800 stat range with all correct stat positions, give better stats, than 2 of the same parents in an average 300 stat range with all the correct stat positions? Edit: I saw your other video and that seems to answer my question. With the answer being yes. Also, in the description, you have a link to a chart with all the stat orders. But do you know of a list anywhere that’s accurate to the DX version? If not that’s ok, I’m just curious.
You can change the version in the calculator in the link to the DX version. It's accurate for generic monsters, but still needs more data for the special monsters
I can tell, from the amount of detailed information in your videos, that you really love this game. I hope to catch more of your videos in the future. They are really well made and, as cheesy as this may sound, they literally make me smile. I like to use disc chips when combining, because the obvious reasons and also because it kind of feels like combining three monsters. Unfortunately, I just can't find where I can get most of the unlockable monsters disc chips. I know that you can get them from expeditions, but you won't find them all in one place. Do you know the location of all the disc chips? Or maybe just a guide with that information? :)
I read that monster weight has and effect on Def. and Spd. during battles, though it's not reflected on the monsters stat page. Like +/-25% on a swinging scale. Does that come into play when determining a monster's Def./Spd. for combining purposes, or is it just purely the numbers shown on the stat screen. Just wondering if I need to normalize weight before combining, since all the mints used during training leave my monsters on Skinny if I don't do something about it afterwards.
Hello Teawch great vid! Just wanted to ask, is it possible to pass down a breed specific tech onto a mon that could not normally get it. I have Phantom Claw on a Hopper/Kato (Kato Sub Breed Only) and want to pass it dont onto a Hopper/Metalner (Springer) but it just doesnt seem to pass it down ever, is it even do able? Edit: Parent 1 Hopper/Kato Has Flick, Phantom Claw, Jump Blow and 2 Jump Blows learned
No, breed specific moves like Phantom Claw cannot be passed down if the baby cannot learn it. If you want to pass it down, the baby must be a Hopper/Kato
@@teawch Thanks for answering that question. A bit of a shame that it works that way though, since there are some cool breed specific techs that would look neat when used by other sub breeds.
I have a question about monster lifespans when combining in the DX version, lets say if I combine a Dragon/Tiger (270 week lifespan) with a Golem/Tiger (330 week lifespan) to get a Golem/Tiger, will the resulting Golem/Tiger have a shorter lifespan?
Do you have a discord or somewhere people could go and ask questions? so much that the majority of us dont know, if not your's then is there a discord or message board that yo go too? also thanks for the vids, subbed and liked, I think everyone has one game they played in their childhood/early teens and for me mr2 is it and i still come back years later occasionally, nothing else quite like it.
I don't go on Discord that often, however, if you just want your Monster Rancher questions answered, go to this one. There are many knowledgeable people there who can answer any questions you have. discord.gg/4cJMVQ9
Is there any more easier guide that tell me when I want specific monster, it suggests both parents would give the highest status possibility? Like if I want a Dragon-Joker, it calculating and suggest which monsters as parents would give you the best result with highest stat possibility
No, there's none at the moment. I can tell from experience that Durahan/Pixie + Dragon/Joker will give you the Dragon/Joker with the highest stats possibility because of the low combination percentage, but I can't explain my thought process
@@teawch I also planning on making Mew/Tiger with parents Pixie/Zuum and Mew/Tiger. Is it an Ultimate Combination if the chance was 2% with max average stat was around 750?
Nice guide you have there. The recent announcement by KT has reignite my passion for this masterpiece. I can't wait for Autumn so I can go crazy with this game again. However I am unsure about 4:21 The example showed was not a good one in my opinion. From the stats of your arrowhead and durahan, it is certain that you will get a good stats if the child turned up to be a Durahan (because of how you aligned the stats). So in my opinion, it has nothing to do with lower chances. Do you mind to give another example? Try using a Durahan/Beaclon instead of Durahan/Durahan. By combining Durahan/Beaclon + Arrowhead, you will have a chance to get Durahan or a Durahan/Beaclon (both have the same stats alignment) with different percentage. Let me know how different is that result. Once again, thank you for the informative guide.
I"ll have to raise a Durahan/Beaclon in that case (which will take some time before I can give you the numbers) Allow me to elaborate on the example in 4:21 while I raise a Durahan/Beaclon I combined Arrowhead+Durahan twice. Once at 4:34 with 100% chance (because I used Double-edged) The other time at 4:51 with the exact same parents, but this Double-edged is not used, hence the combining chance is lowered from 100% to 16% The resulting Durahans from the exact same parents are compared at 4:59. So we have the exact same parents, both combining into Durahan/Durahan The one on the left is from 16% chance and the one on the right is 100% chance I should be able to get the stats of Durahan/Beaclon in 1-2 days and I'll update my answer.
@@teawch It doesn't have to be Durahan/Beaclon. As long as you can prove a lower % child is better than a higher % child (both child must have the exact same stats order). That will make your case much convincing. However if what you are trying to prove is that a child gotten from combine item is weaker than one without, you have already done well explaining that in your video. Apologize if I sounded like a pain. p/s. Just realized you can just combine a Durahan + Beaclon to prove such point. (No Arrowhead required). Since you have a much higher chance getting Durahan/Beaclon compare to Durahan/Durahan. Furthermore, both child has the same stats order too. Looking forward to your findings.
@@teawch Thank you so much for answering this. Very interesting finding I would say. Do you mind if I follow up with another question? Does it only work on pure breed? Cuz what I have noticed from your videos, like the Zuum at 0:16 , the Tiger you used to win Rank S at 3 weeks old, or even the Durahan example you just gave, it's all coincidently pure breed. As you know usually pure breed has the lowest percentage during combination hence that might be a reason for the better stat gain for the child. Any thoughts on that? Or have you come across a mixed breed with equal or lower % that has better stat gain? Once again, sorry for bombarding you with all these questions and thank you for sparing your time to reply.
@@AkiGaming Pure breeds tend to have lower combining chance, but that's not always true. Combining Jell/Gali + Kato/Tiger will give you Kato/Gali 3%, Kato/Kato 3%, Kato/Tiger 3% with Kato/Tiger having the best stat gains out of the 3 Combining Arrow Head/Golem + Baku/Joker will give you Joker/Joker 3% and Joker/Golem 2%
If you're talking about the stat match at 2:59, the Jell/Gali I'm using does not follow Jell/Gali's stat order because its stats are corrected (see 1:43), so the stat order of this particular Jell/Gali follows Kato/Tiger's stat order
me rewatching this for the tech inheritance guide, I'm sadden by the fact that you have to re-use nitons shell attack and spiked shell by 50 times to get violent shell every time you combine
That's part of the challenge that you can be proud of, since 90% of players would not get Violent Shell on their Nitons because it requires too much effort
Wow thank you this is what I need. Bro this is my opinion but I think you need change your Name channel because that hard to remember and when I typing name of your channel. Change it for example ADVANCE NEXT LEVEL thats cool name I suggest to you 🤩
Hi teawch, i hope that you read and comment to my message ... I trained Hare/Gali and Zilla/Tiger, dadge says it is a great combination wherein it matches 6 stats, however, when i combined these two, it still gives me lower stat! Here is my Hare/Gali stats and Zilla/Tiger stats ... Hare/Gali Lif. 999 Pow. 502 Int. 556 Ski. 454 Spd. 660 Def. 177 Zilla/Tiger Lif. 999 Pow. 510 Int. 506 Ski. 163 Spd. 804 Def. 135
What monster were you trying to get? Your stat alignment is Lif > Spd > Pow > Int > Ski > Def That doesn't align with any monster you can get from Hare/Gali + Zilla/Tiger combination To get high stats, the stat alignment has to align with the baby's base stats For example, if you were trying to get a Zilla/Zilla from this combination, the stat alignment of both Hare/Gali and Zilla/Tiger need to be Pow > Lif > Def > Int > Spd > Ski To fix this combination, train both Hare/Gali and Zilla/Tiger's Pow to be above 670 and you can get a Zilla/Zilla with high Pow and Lif
Here's a Combination Calculator you can use to determine stat order: legendcup.com/combocalc-mr2.php

I noticed the amazing editing as well. Smooth.
My favorite game of all-time, bar none... It's a gaming masterpiece.
Yo! You are the real deal! With MR2 videos posted 10 years ago, I admire your dedication for this wonderful game. MR2 is the best to play during Quarantine with the whole family using the internet! 😅 Thank you for this! 😊
this video editing is really professional
I really love this game. Till now the game mechanic still surprise me.
The one thing I didn't know was the "lower monster breed offspring chance = higher stats". XD
Based on the amount of effort you've put in this video with the seamless editing and whatnot, I feel that you're really passionate about this game.
The combining seasoning I use depends on the situation
If I was making a Durahan, I would pick the +1 boost in leap I'll be training that over 100 times.
If I was going for lower % chance (like below 4%) I would use the corresponding Disc Chip to lower the chance.
If had to pick one, my go-to item would be Crab's Claw because that gives the most stats
I prioritize stats over battle specials, but if I had to choose a battle special, it would be Grit or Ease (Ease lowers guts cost by 33%, allowing me to spam techniques)
@@teawch Nice. Thanks for the insights. :)

I always thought it corrected stats capped at 999 too, until I found Tsmuji's combination calculator, which showed numbers above 999

Would a guide on raising monsters from E to S tier be different from beating the game with a monster? Or is it more battle focused or focused on a monster's stats for each grade?

@@BurtGregoryFavorito still playing. Now, I will apply this stat order on my Dragon and Bajarl hehe
Thanks for the information, so in a basic way , you have to decide what the child is, then make the parents status align for a great combination for the child , it also means if you want a powerhouse, you need to pick the parents that are good in the same status or it will not align .
That's right
@@teawch any reason to not use mock/plant disc part on every combining ?
I never knew that there are these kind of calculations being considered.
and I played this complicated game in a junior high... really bring back memories
Hey Teawch I am having an issue with combining. I made a Zuum/Joker and a Tiger/Monol and corrected their stats.
I was aiming to correct the stats for a baby Zuum/Tiger but it doesn't matter if the two monsters aren't working correctly/aligning properly.
Their stats are:
Zuum/Joker The order should be Ski / Lif / Pow / Spd / Int / Def
Lif 521 or 521 3
Pow 515 or 515 3
Int 202 or 202 3
Ski 361 or 541.5 4
Spd 312 or 312 3
Def 183 or 183 3
Tiger/Monol The order should be Ski / Lif / Pow / Spd / Int / Def
Lif 527 or 263.5 2
Pow 522 or 261 2
Int 160 or 240 4
Ski 349 or 523.5 4
Spd 256 or 256 3
Def 214 or 214 3
And the baby Zuum/Tiger is Ski / Lif / Pow / Spd / Int / Def
I used JW Cooper' Calculator all is green and good to go but I am still getting an unsure.
I changed JW Cooper' calculator to hard mode and it changed Tiger's Lif to a 3 so I had to adjust his skill level so that all was green again.
it brought me up to a good but it's still not great when I did the combination a second time.
Tiger/Monol The order should be Ski / Lif / Pow / Spd / Int / Def (With Hard mode enabled)
Lif 527 or 527 3
Pow 522 or 261 2
Int 160 or 240 4
Ski 358 or 537 4
Spd 256 or 256 3
Def 214 or 214 3
After I raised his skill up it changed from an unsure to a good.
I did a test with two other monsters and followed the calculator and I ended up with a great this time?
I'm guessing you're playing on Alchius' Hard Mode version of the game.
Alchius' modified the stat gains of several monsters (see patch notes)
For these monsters, you need Hard Mode enabled in the combination calculator
Before I enabled Hard mode I had all of their stats green and good to go but it still wasn't working in the actual game, I was getting an unsure.
I got this version of monster rancher 2 off coolroms , the cheats folder labels it as SLUS_009.17 Isn't that just the normal USA version?
I had no idea what enabling hard mode did in the calculator.
I just changed the calculator to hard mode to see what would happen and seen that tigers life changed from a 2 to a 3 so I adjusted his skill
and for whatever reason the combination became better.
Even if it was Alchius' hard mode version of the game, it still didn't give me a great combination. Even though all the stats match up properly.
I didn't download Alchius' modified version of the game, it's just an iso off of coolrom.com
I was also wondering what all increases stress outside of training? in your durahan video , apparently scolding a monster increases stress by 16?
what about not praising it for winning a battle or declining a request like meat from it?
Gosh this brought so many memories from 15 years ago 😭💖
Great vid! I do have a few followup questions if you're still checking these...
Can you "chain" the battle special inheritance? Like say one of the parents inherited a battle special that it's main type doesn't normally have, can it still pass that down to a new offspring? (Say, trying to get a Golem/Arrowhead, if the second parent is an Arrowhead/Suezo with Ease, could it pass on Ease?)
Also, can you "skip" techniques in a chain by passing them down? Like can you pass down the third tech in a chain without the second one, or do they have a set order/priority?
Yes, you can chain battle special inheritance. Each battle special has a chance of being inherited (besides Power, Anger, Real, and Unity). The chances of inheritance are higher if they're inherited from parent 1 than parent 2.
You can only skip the 1st technique in a chain. For example, a Zuum can inherit Bite-Throw and MillionBites without inheriting Bite.
@@teawch Great, thank you!

The base stat order is used to determine the stat order of the parent monster when there's a tie when the correct stat order of the parent (1:54)
Combine stat order is the stat order to aim for when you want this monster as baby from combining (8:26)

I'm gonna have to watch this a few more times but I think I get it.
I... never knew about such stat orders.

It's a Dragon/Henger with
228 life
504 power
393 int
395 skill
515 speed
268 def
It's not perfect, because I was bottlecapped by using a Dragon/Dragon and Golem Henger (they both have garbage speed and Speed is the 3rd highest stat in Dragon/Henger) but I'm very proud of it nonetheless.

I read that the bonuses from form don't exceed level 20 so I don't think my Evasion is benefiting from being skinny but it seems like it's making my defense tank for no benefit, is this true?
Yes, that is true. Once you max out your stat levels, you should make your form Even
A really hero! This is the best video i can see of combining. Thanks a lot for your work!!

God dang it. Perfect. Dark Phoenix will love you for making this easy to understand.
Btw, why would you use Metalner Disk on the previous video?

It doesn't matter. Both yield similar results. However, the position of the stats that don't align matters. If the stats that don't align are the first stats in the order, the results would be lower than if the stats that don't align are the last stats in the order.
For example, if the correct order is Lif>Pow>Int>Ski>Spd>Def
Lif>Pow>Int>Ski>Def>Spd will yield better results than Pow>Lif>Int>Ski>Spd>Def

@@teawch I found the one on legendcup that works, thanks for helping.
Use Ctrl+F in this guide. "Disc chip" is spelled as "Disk chip in this guide"

The weight is purely for battles. It doesn't apply to Def and Spd stats for combining
@@teawch Thank you! That's one less thing for me to worry about.
No, the resulting Golem/Tiger will 330 weeks of lifespan. The lifespan of all combined monsters will be the default lifespan of that breed
Great explanation, a play this game and is awesome, with my poor knowledge I can beat it with my suezo
Thanks for the video :)
in a core this game is really formula heavy if u want to be really good at it kekw
Thank you. This video is helpful.
So if i make combination using capsule --> combining chance 100%, it will useless, even though the parents have high stats
@@-ArdhaniChandraIt will be a combination with high stats as long as the stat order is Spd > Ski > Int > Lif > Def > Pow
I"ll have to raise a Durahan/Beaclon in that case (which will take some time before I can give you the numbers)
Allow me to elaborate on the example in 4:21 while I raise a Durahan/Beaclon
I combined Arrowhead+Durahan twice.
Once at 4:34 with 100% chance (because I used Double-edged)
The other time at 4:51 with the exact same parents, but this Double-edged is not used, hence the combining chance is lowered from 100% to 16%
The resulting Durahans from the exact same parents are compared at 4:59.
So we have the exact same parents, both combining into Durahan/Durahan
The one on the left is from 16% chance and the one on the right is 100% chance
I should be able to get the stats of Durahan/Beaclon in 1-2 days and I'll update my answer.

Combining Jell/Gali + Kato/Tiger will give you Kato/Gali 3%, Kato/Kato 3%, Kato/Tiger 3% with Kato/Tiger having the best stat gains out of the 3
Combining Arrow Head/Golem + Baku/Joker will give you Joker/Joker 3% and Joker/Golem 2%
quick question, how did the stats aligned if you didnt follow jell/gali's stat order? you followed kato/tiger's stat order
If you're talking about the stat match at 2:59, the Jell/Gali I'm using does not follow Jell/Gali's stat order because its stats are corrected (see 1:43), so the stat order of this particular Jell/Gali follows Kato/Tiger's stat order
@@teawch thank you for replying!
i never got the 6 stat match message bt after this vid maybe i will thanks! 😄
lmfao why is this so complex
me rewatching this for the tech inheritance guide, I'm sadden by the fact that you have to re-use nitons shell attack and spiked shell by 50 times to get violent shell every time you combine

Pow. 502
Int. 556
Ski. 454
Spd. 660
Def. 177
Zilla/Tiger
Lif. 999
Pow. 510
Int. 506
Ski. 163
Spd. 804
Def. 135
What monster were you trying to get?
Your stat alignment is Lif > Spd > Pow > Int > Ski > Def
That doesn't align with any monster you can get from Hare/Gali + Zilla/Tiger combination
To get high stats, the stat alignment has to align with the baby's base stats
For example, if you were trying to get a Zilla/Zilla from this combination, the stat alignment of both Hare/Gali and Zilla/Tiger need to be Pow > Lif > Def > Int > Spd > Ski
To fix this combination, train both Hare/Gali and Zilla/Tiger's Pow to be above 670 and you can get a Zilla/Zilla with high Pow and Lif
@@teawch ah okay! i get it!
im trying to get Hare/Tiger
so i need to train Hare/Gali and Zilla/Tiger to SPD POW SKI LIF INT DEF?
am i correct?
Aldriel Floyd Lopez No, Hare/Tiger's stat order is Spd > Ski > Pow > Lif > Int > Def. Train it to this order
