@@NolanSmithers97 I went on a ride along with a cop that had an automatic plate reader on his car. In just a couple of hours it ran about 4 or 5 plates that came back as either stolen or with a felony warrant for the owner from another state. So, it's not nearly as far fetched as it may seem
When I was 21 I was driving like an ass. I cut off this one car that was driving at granny speed. Of course as soon as I got in front of the car the cop lights start going off (it was an undercover granny speed) Only time I was ever pulled over. Very stupid, if I was an older person you could have caused an accident” He let me go with a warning because I answered honestly.
I got pulled over one time for speeding, doing about 15 over. When the cop asked, how fast I was going, I said I was speeding, doing about 15 over and had no excuse. He ran my credentials, came back and said, you can go with a warning because you didn't try to lie or make excuses.

My memory works really good when it comes to the truth and nature of actual events that took place because they are constant variables they do not change, but remembering the fiction i created inside my own head would be infinitely harder because the variable are not real, the variables are made up and if they punch holes in it and you change it on the fly to cover up said holes you are cooked because lying is another charge and they will punch holes in your lie because they typically know the truth or can find the truth to verify your claims. life’s hard but it’s harder when you’re stupid, ive seen so many body cam footage where they ask people questions that they can find the truth to in like 2 minutes and then they get charged with lying to the cops, one woman i saw lied to the cops they found out it was a lie and the crazy thing is she was the only one of her friends not involved in the crime and then she lied and made herself join them in being arrested. Pretty sure that while she's from New Jersey (hence the NJ plate) she is going to school, living in, and getting pulled over in Florida. I disagree. That means if the cop is having a bad day she goes to jail. If the cop is having a good day, then someone else gets a break. If it's a "law" it needs to be applied the same in every situation so that people know exactly what happens when they break. That *”Have a better day”* hit different when you’re not going to jail for a felony charge but remember you’ll be scared telling your dad you’ve been illegally drinking and even had a fake ID now in police custody which has potential to get you expelled from college.
Her violation was not a felony. It was a misdemeanor. The only circumstance where this is a felony in the State of Florida is if someone is manufacturing or selling fake IDs. See Florida Statues Title XXIII MOTOR VEHICLES Chapter 322 DRIVER LICENSES. The cop entirely misunderstood the law, probably because if you google "Is possessing a fake ID a felony" will show results saying that it's a third degree felony, when this is simply the maximum punishment for a different circumstance.

But after I retired, I was parked in an empty lot for a head shop. It ended up being the wrong lot but was not clear with zero signs. When I returned to my vehicle, an officer was running my plates. I approached from the front slowly so he wouldn’t be off guard. He confirmed it was the wrong lot but it was fine. I asked if he wanted me to stay a minute so he can finish running my plates (as at the time the computers were slow and I wanted to be nice). He responded, “I am allowed to run your tag!!!” I said, “I know… I was asking if you wanted more time to clear the vehicle”. He said no so I left. He then proceeded to follow me home. In cases like this - depending on the customer, of course - I really believe a stern warning goes so much futher than issuing a penalty. It's something about human nature. Receiving a penalty, no matter how well-deserved it is, causes anger and resentment and could be conter-productive when it comes to reoffending. I believe she learned her lesson well enough.
Indeed. And its also about knowing why a fake ID is a felony and why many students use them anyway without thinking about the unwanted side-effects and dangers. It's the stupid drinking age. Amazing interaction. A cop that truly wants to protect and serve, and an honest girl. When I was in college I remember a cop stopped me for running a red light. I had been speeding and tried slamming on my brakes for the yellow but ran right through the red. I was mortified and fully expected a ticket, but the cop looked at my backpack and asked if I was headed to school (college town).

@@PunishedCoyote that sucks. :(
@@PunishedCoyoteI’ll split the difference with you two: As a former LEO myself, I’ve had good and bad experiences with officers. I knew many amazing officers who have risked all for terrible pay. He responded, “I am allowed to run your tag!!!”
I said, “I know… I was asking if you wanted more time to clear the vehicle”. He said no so I left. He then proceeded to follow me home. It was one main road then my side street 2 miles away. I figured it was no big deal until he pulled down my small street. What a jerk.
But we all have bad days even when we are professional. I do wish changes would occur but I’m hesitant to say cops are inherently good or bad.
amazing work from the LEO. Perfect example of thinking beyond the law, and serving the community through emotional intellect. Only enforcing the law as a last resort in case rapport is not met.

I told him I was, and he cut me the biggest break by giving me a verbal warning. He said he knew my parents would most likely end up paying the ticket (he knows something about broke college students) so he was cutting them a break more than me. I still remember his face to this day. Just like the cop in the video, there are amazing people out there who do their job exceptionally well.
Thanks a ton for this! It’s much better to give someone that scare and warn them that it really CAN happen to them and they will get charged if they’re caught doing this stuff, but of course ruining someone’s life with a felony over something like this when it could have been taught differently is a much harsher punishment.
