- Himalayan Monals are one of the most beautiful birds in the world. This one is very tame and loves peanuts. Himalayan Monals are also often called Impeyan Monal or Impeyan Pheasant or Danphe (Danfe). Their scientific name is Lophophorus impejanus. It is native to the Himalaya regions of Afghanistan, Kashmir region of Northern Pakistan, Northern India, Nepal, southern Tibet, Bhutan and possibly Burma (Myanmar).
The Himalayan Monal is the National bird of Nepal.
Mind bogglingly beautiful, my god! I've never seen anything so lovely in the world. Makes you want to cry. Such a lovely planet we have.

apparently although some animals are more intelligent, only dogs understand our pointing signals that we do with our hands. Other animals just look at the hand, even chimps

Hi there, I'm trying to get mine to your state of domestication!! Do you have a female too? We're in the Bay of Plenty and are learning what to do with 2 pairs of juveniles, only rising two this October. Is your fellow free-ranging or in an aviary?
This bird is with males only of different species. It is in a very large (half acre) open aviary. Time, patience and Food are the key. Pheasants are very jumpy creatures by nature but Monal are the tamest I have found. Make them associate being fed with seeing you. If you bring them special food twice a day they will eventually come to you... hopefully. But some birds take a long time, and some birds are just naturally friendly and some will never come tame... Good Luck.
Can you Post the sound of monal. Little high pitch
We have 6 here in Rotorua, are you breeding from yours? How old is this male? How many girls do you have with him? Great clip and setup. Cheers Craig
The male in this video is no longer of this earth. But where I work we currently have 4 females and 6 males.

When he shakes his head, it means he doesn't like what he just pecked | did | saw but it can also be that they are expressing what they are feeling in regards to a thought they had. When my chicken's are looking for food, if they see another bird turd, it's like their brain process is: "Should I eat this?" and they shake their head that they disapprove or something musn't be done. And other birds either heed the caution or investigate, just in-case there is some treasure there that the other chicken missed.
This poor guy doesn't know that it is state bird of two states of india and national bird of nepal.. It is called Himalayan peacock in the place where I live..
Feeding wild birds from hand is not good. They may fall prey to poachers, fear from humans should remain.
