  • We asked 15 cancer survivors, fighters and their supporters from the IHadCancer.com community what they would say to someone who just found out they had cancer.
Cancer can be scary and isolating, even when you have great family and friends. Sometimes it takes someone who has gone through the same experience as you to understand what you're going through. That's why we created IHadCancer.com - a support community that allows cancer fighters, survivors and their supporters to find real support and real answers from other people who have been there.
We believe that sharing stories can save lives, so that's why we invited these 15 amazing people to come in and share their stories with us. Now we can share them with you.
Thank you so much for watching & please pass this along!

I would tell that person to take one deep breath and get ready to conquer the trails that you are going to face. Oh and doctors are not always right. When I was diagnosed with cancer, they told me a lot of things, but I proved them wrong. I'm am still here, the tumor is gone, and I can walk. Have the faith that you will finish and miracles will blossom up.

I think a positive attitude is huge. Do your research about your cancer but don't become obsessed. Research your doctors and hospitals and have faith in them.

What my mom used to call a PMA - a Positive Mental Attitude. Also, before you sit down in front of your pc & begin researching your illness, talk to at least one other Survivor. And, if what you're seeing doesn't jive with what you're hearing, believe your eyes.
