Creative Director Martin Sahlin gives instructions on how you can make Yarny using wire and yarn, just like he did in the forest of Northern Scandinavia. Martin, I want to thank you for what you've done. I'm a 26 year old male suffering from depression and Unravel was a game-changer for me. The passion and love you have put into the game and everything surrounding it is astounding. It truly made me feel alive again. The landscapes, the music, the charm -- it all feels very real. It's been such a long time since a game has impacted me this much and I even went out to grab yarn and wire today to make a Yarny of my own. I plan on hanging him from my rearview mirror in my car; that way I can always see him and remember my journey through Unravel. Again, thank you. You are a blessing.

It's so refreshing to see someone actually excited and passionate about their game.
I just beat this game and still can't believe EA published this. $20 price tag, No DLC, no micro-transactions, no season pass, no broken online servers, they didn't just rush the game out the door because EA told them to, no collector's edition. Everything wrong with the gaming industry is completely missing in this beautiful creation of a game. And they didn't stop there instead of selling Yarny merchandise to make more money they added an instructional video and guide on how to make it yourself. If you haven't supported this game by buying it you are physically telling EA that you hate innovation and value in your games.

Okay, I know a lot of people are probably saying this, but just let me say that your game is just such a masterpiece, it is so beautiful. The music is calming, the scenery is incredibly realistic due to all the detail and all the work it probably took to make it that perfect. It cures all sorts of depression. I just finished playing the first one and the story is really deep and touching. I cried a lot while playing the game 😭 sometimes from joy, other times from sadness (like when Yarny ‘died’ in the snowstorm.) When I watched the ending I was like wait whattttttt this doesn’t make sense! Then I thought about it and watched a few theory videos and I think that Yarny represents the love between the old lady and the man we see the whole time. The whole game is basically a depressing love story. I think that when Yarny ‘died’ was the result of the man sadly dying from a heart attack and causing their love to fade. I also think that the little girl who picks him up at the end is the one who picked him up and ‘fixed’ him in the snowstorm. This resembles the little girl (the lady and the man’s daughter) making the old lady happy again and remembering her husband, fixing the love between them. Think about it, doesn’t it make sense? If you haven’t played the game person who’s reading this, I highly recommend playing it. It’s my favorite game now without a doubt. But that’s my theory. I got this mainly from a “Unravel ending explained” video. I recommend you watch it.

I have turned this into a project for my daughter and I as a bonding experience. I plan on finding a special stone with her small enough to fit inside the skeleton and wrap it in a different collor yarn and ask her to make a wish. Then we will make the doll and play the game together when it comes out.

Unravel 2 has many character customization options, and you can mix and match different headpieces, yarn colors, eyes, and torsos. I don't know how many Yarnys that combination unlocks for you, but make them all.
This game has impacted me very much. I just completed it over the past 3 days with my family after seeing stamps play the first level in 2016 or 2017, and it made me emotional even back then. This game deserves so much more attention. It’s a masterpiece and I love it. I hope we one day get an unravel 3 or atleast the game receives more attention.

I just love Martin's sincerity on Yarny and the whole project. From the first reveal you could just see the love for what he does and purely because of that I just knew I have to give the game at least a fair chance.
I was looking all over for a tutorial like this, and then I found that the creator of Yarny himself made one! Thanks so much yarn guy, I can't wait to go home this weekend and pick up some yarn!

It's been years since I've watched this video and made my first yarny. I'll never forget the fun and emotional connection I had with the first game and the pure excitement I had when the second game was announced and I dashed out to my local craft store to make new ones. I would like to thank all the people that worked on Unravel. I know its kinda late to thank you for to creation of this graphicly astonishing game but I'm a very young person who is barely old enough to use youtube so this game was kinda a part of my childhood but I couldn't say I'm out of my childhood years because I'm still a teen so technically I'm still a child, Once again thank you.

I only recently discovered Unravel and think it's a great game. I was pleased to find a video on making Yarny. I'm currently making a giant Yarny doll with chunky yarn. I crochet the skeleton and wrapped around it, now I'm just felting it together to keep it from shedding and unraveling. It'll be a long process, but I find crafts therapeutic so it's all good.
I'm also making a regular size one like this with the wire frame and wrapping it to go on my computer desk.

I made this omg it took forever but u are very good at explaining the simple details like how u make his hands bigger at the ends which other tutorials wouldnt mention and the good description about how his torso is like a long t-shirt. Me and my siblings played through unravel two during quarantine and it’s still one of my favorites.
Omigosh, not only is this a super cute and useful tutorial, but you're so soft spoken and sweet! Did anybody else want to give this man a gradiose snuggling by about 20 seconds in? Honestly, cute as kitty buttons.

I should have posted this long ago, but I've loved not only Yarny himself, but Unravel since the day it came out. I had been meaning to make a Yarny (I saw this on the game screen) for quite some time now, and I had the wire and white yarn, but I kept forgetting to buy some nice soft red yarn. So I finally did it and I'll try to send a pic of my Yarny later. (I finally got around to making one as a birthday gift to myself - one of the best things I've ever gotten really).
I can't wait to get the materials together to make a Yarny of my own. I haven't played Unravel yet myself, just watched some of Jack's videos and one of Jeremy Dooley's streams, but I can still tell how much love and care went into making it.
