Hello Girl Talks Fish, I just started watching your channel in the last couple of months, and I love them all. I am about to start my first tank, waiting on my things to deliver this week. Now I came across this video about super glue, so glad that I did, I just order it for my live plants. I have watched many many many videos and study for months on keeping fish and living plants, I am always asking questions. thanks on the tip of the glue.
I wish I had known or thought of using the cap. Sure would have prevented multiple times of plants stuck to fingers instead of wood or rock, lol. # 1 best tip right here. 👍💕👍
Nice tips! I can’t tie plants to rocks to save my life so superglue is awesome. I haven’t tried glueing hardscape together yet, but I recently glued a bunch of flame moss to a ceramic skull I use in one of my tanks. It’s just now starting to grow in nicely.
LOL I discovered recently that there is such a thing as aquascaping glue when I went to my local professional aquarium shop. I asked for something to tie moss and other hardscape plants and she told me "glue" and I was like "whaa" and then she showed me. Then I got home and was amazed how easy it was. You definitely need a bunch of it for aquascaping.
Well I gave mine a solid 10 minutes for fumes to clear out of the room. When I didn't smell it and the glue seemed totally hard, I put them in the water and everything seems good update if anyone replies to me so I can say if everything died since this is my first time with aquatic plants
Thank you for this helpful video! I'm extremely new to aquarium ownership. I have a 3 gallon with two nerite snails and one little neocaridina shrimp, and I want them to live their best little lives. The snails are good at budging my plants around so this will help me with an escapee java fern.
You're videos are awesome! I'm just getting started with my first tank and it seems like you're answering every question I have! Thanks for the great videos :)
I found some small mangrove twigs at a local petshop, then glued them to make a big tree-ish driftwood, one of them did fall off tho, make sure you use enough glue and you can hide the glue spots with moss and some pkants!
I tried aquascaping today, used about 2/3rd of a gorilla super glue gel bottle (15g). I don’t feel that it had all completely set before I filled the tank… is it still safe, of should I give it a day to set and then do a 100% water change before adding my fish? Thanks in advance! 😊
I have a tree decor peice that broke so I added glue over a little sooner glue between the root and stem and now the broken pieces are covered and it looks natural
Is there any way to save rhyzome plants that may have been... accidentally globbed with superglue and put in the tank already? I didn't realize just how much i COVERED this anubias with glue until it turned white :X it even got on the stems.
Does anyone know if the glue works on wet surfaces? I have driftwood that I want to attack miss to and I don’t know if I should want to put it in the tank until I can get the plants.
I realize this video is kind of old but will the be safe to use in a snake tank? I used some to glue some coco fiber and moss to a new hide, but I'm second guessing myself
Great video, and very helpful. But I'm too early! Will have to check back later, when there are more comments, to pick up more useful tips and tricks! Also - wow, you're getting so close to 10 thousand subscribers! Any special plans for when you hit that milestone?
Sorry stupid question I am extremely new to aquatic plants and aquariums and hoping to have one for the first time soon..but, how do the plants stay alive if their roots are glued onto an object and not in substrate? Or does the water provide enough for the plants so they do not need any nutrients from the substrate?
Idk if you'll see this in any reasonable amount of time, but have you ever noticed the smell of superglue after the time it was supposed to havd cured? I glued a few plants to my decorations and kept them in a bucket outside the tank for a day and a half and when I took them out of the water today I quickly noticed the chemical smell. I just used a tube of regular loctite. Every one I've talked to says superglue is totally fine but I'm paranoid bc I love my betta so much.
I _personally_ haven't had any issues with it, but I also haven't kept hundreds of axolotls and exposed them to plants attached with glue. I have used glue around other sensitive creatures like dwarf shrimp and otocinclus, and so far it's giving me no issues.
If I am going to be gluing anything, I make sure it's the last thing I do in my fish room for the day! Of course, that's after going back and doing soon tinkering. Lol! Then I use lotion to get the glue off my hands!
You can. It just flows a little faster and may be harder to control. Just make sure not to drench the rhizome on any anubias, java fern, etc. and you should be fine. :)
Hey great video thank you very much. Who is wondering do you think I guess this is the name aquarium stones are needed. I feel like they take up way too much room. I like using small ones to anchor plants down that actually need to be put into substrate. I'm trying to see if I could grow was just liquidhaving the roots exposed into the water column but hidden by the stone. You see when I first got into the hobby two years with bettas in Taiwan they don't actually sell aquarium soil in the pet shops. I've been to so many and I had never found any I think you have to buy it online or something in Taiwan. I think it's because maybe they want you to buy gravel so all of my tanks consists of gravel but we don't have silk plant so I use live plants which we have all the variety of. so if you were to check out my TH-cam channel you would see that I have anubias and other types of plants that seem to be doing well. I'm thinking about trying water lettuce. There is one plant that I'm thinking of buying it's in a small pot with aquarium soil. Just this year we got aquarium soil but it's from Japan. A large bag it's like 40 USD. I'm an American but the goal of my channel is to help Taiwanese people realize they can create a very simpletank without having to spend a ton of money and the stress of me and hanging it. I also just want to bring a little joy and peace. Seems like the world is in a place where everybody is either scared or worried. anyways I love your videos and I'm glad that you work with co-op thanks for all the great info
Great question! Yes, hot glue is safe for aquariums. If you notice, a lot of fish tank decorations have hot glue at the base. However, I've never tried it with live plants because of the heat.
In all Super glue packaging, there are always warnings about how irritating the glue is. I wonder how it is not toxic to the plant that is physically in contact with the glue and also to the fish if some of the glue substance leaks into the water.
My dwarf african frogs can untie anything I tie down with string. I'll be getting glue first thing in the morning. Them frogs think they have me beat. Let them try now!
@@GirlTalksFish I got the glue and glued my plants to rocks. Then I glued myself to the plants. One thing you didn't mention, How long to let it cure. It says 24 hours. I can't keep my plants out of water that long and when does it become fish safe? Also, I am trying to glue some rocks together for my 40 gallon. Any tips for using it on there. I am not getting an instant bond. It takes a long time. TH-cam makes it look so easy.
I really want a 10 gallon community tank with a female or a male betta as the center piece(depends)and a good small schooling fish if I’m choosing a male I’d prefer tetras or with female a few guppies and if possible I would love a bottom dweller ( i don’t know if this set up is possible so that’s why I’m asking you)the thing is that a 20 gallon tank is pretty large for the place I wanna keep it so a 10 gallon is good. Ps:if a betta isn’t possible I’m flexible to other good looking fish as well
That sounds great! I think as long as you have plenty of room and hiding places/cover, betta fish actually make pretty good community fish. That being said, if your betta turns out to be super aggressive like mine, you can usually return the tetras/guppies and try another species until you find the perfect match. Best of luck with your 10-gallon setup! Let me know what you end up doing. :)
A Gamer's Wife I have a question is it possible to keep a good bottom dweller I’m the tank and if so which one? And I’ll keep my betta in it as he is biting his tail and I think that the other fish will distract him from that.
It cures underwater? For some reason my brain can’t wrap around the idea that I don’t need to keep it out of water for 24 hours. How does it cure if it’s wet?

Why do you attach roots to your finger tips
I've always wanted to scape with super glue... this might just push me over the edge finally! nice tip with the lava rock too :)
