Local communities are lacking faith in their government, blaming them for allowing these thugs to become so powerful. With no dedicated policing, the families of victims feel that the criminals are prioritised over them, a feeling fuelled by claims that these thugs-turned-police informants have made deals with the law. "We have promises for secret deals" says former drug dealer Jim Boivine. Journalist and activist Julian Sher has followed the rise of the Angels for over 10 years and believes a tougher more direct approach should be used: "You can't strut around wearing your biker vests and your bike patches and think you control our cities." B.C organized crime has always been unique compared to other places. White, Asian, etc all profited together. Even on lower levels there wasn't turf wars or a lot of violence. In 2007 ish Abbotsford crews started to splinter and there was a lot of gang violence but that didn't last long. There is so much money to be made and most of us realize violence only leads to cops. All dealers and xrews get their product from the same few big players but are independent. In Surrey there are tons of dealers making 5g plus a day without fear of violence. The one's that do break the code, Bacon brothers etc never last long.
BTW the Surrey six murders they talk about were not related to the HA they were from abbotsford and were a crew that were hated by the Angels.

It's more-so that the police tolerated them for such a long time during the 80's/90's/early 2000's that they managed to really put down their roots. In recent times though they've been cracked down on, their clubhouses have mostly been closed down like the one near White Rock, and you don't really see much of the Hell's Angels anymore in the Greater Vancouver area. If anything, in BC, they're more situated in Abbotsford/Kamloops/Kelowna in the less populated areas.
Reality members actually scared of HA's. Like most bullies they both need to be in a group. Both groups will fabricate, lie or do whatever is required to protect their perception of "family". Sadly we have citizens watching TV, believing police agencies serve and protect the public. Teddy Bear Runs, Cops for Cancer all image building. If the opportunity presents itself, experience a clubhouse, go to a Xmas party for any police agency. After one night of drinking you tell me the difference. To each their own, stay safe.

This Yank spent 7 months living at the Ivanhoe in the late 90's, and saw quite a lot down the block. My days were largely spent on Wreck, with nights at the 'hoe, American Cafe, Cobalt, and the No5 Orange. The Angels were always present, overlooking their enterprises and suffering no fools. Great times and memories from my partying days, now enjoying over 20 years of grateful sobriety.

I get it, all you guys know some HAs in real life, they were really nice to you, etc.. I've met some, too, and was very close with one for years. Maybe this says something about my life choices, but I've never seen the "charity ride for children" side of the club, I've only seen the "men with handguns selling large quantities of various drugs and/or hijacked liquor" side of them. Like I said, one was an old friend, so they were always very nice to me, but I knew they weren't guys to fuck around with, whatsoever. Quit trying to pretend their reputation isn't well earned.

When I was in my mid teens in Vancouver BC pre Expo, I saw a guy curb stomped after being dragged from a biker bar on Granville st just off Davies. That was my first intro to bikers. I partied at one of HAs boozecans and learned quickly about respecting those guys they could be super cool or dangerous, your choice.

"the Vancouver"...? That title is painful and it should read, "Montreal" since they immediately went to the East Coast after 1 minute of talking about Vancouver and spent more than half the show in Montreal.
None of this is anything new though. The Angel's have run the Port of Vancouver for years, with over half the employee's in the local Union being associates or members of the Angel's down on the docks. It has been reported on numerous times with little change being done about it.
Vancouver has "a zero tolerance policy to drug usage"? HA! We have a legal injection site for heroin addicts to shoot up and our judicial system is a total joke. Fuck, we even have several city blocks dedicated to drug addicts and transients to run an open air drug market 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; with the police doing little about it, simply because... where do they put all the addicts from that area? It's a total clusterfuck on every level of government, police and community to fix that all up but there is definitely not a "zero tolerance policy" going on there.

I can understand these parents as frustration and wanting Justice. But in actuality the scales aren't slanted on the side of criminals people are found guilty and provincial courts everyday without actual evidence just on a judge's decision. Example trafficking in an institution caught with 16 pills inside and was placed in the dry cell which means there is a camera and there is no running water. Judge signs defendant guilty for trafficking. Defendant through drugs under his door out of the cell guard comes and Picks Them Up that is possession. Jail does not give the drugs to the RCMP for one year RCMP do not charge defendant till 8 months after getting drugs 20 months later for trafficking judge finds him guilty on bases any reasonable person would have orally digested the 16 pills yeah right OD his second reason any reasonable person would have hit the drugs and their cell yeah right there's a camera there and in the same sentence it wasn't very many pills he could have digested them in the same sentence this amount of pills is significant in coincides with the amount for trafficking guilty LOL. Where was the evidence for transfer for trafficking? How much is actually the amount for trafficking? And you're guilty because a judge said so because you did not OD by taking the pills or hide them in your cell on camera. The defendant stated he brought the 16 pills admitted to guilt of possession but was not charged for possession was charged for trafficking they already gave him a trial date the prosecution try to change the charge to possession but defendant already with the trial date refused so they could not change it. Prosecution has no evidence of trafficking at all and they knew it they fucked up when they try to charge him which trafficking they try to withdrawal the charged but we're on successful. The law is 100% on the RCMP and prosecution side. of course you have the right to appeal but after going to the courts for two years who has the money to pay 3000 $5,000 a court appearance to a lawyer? Especially a drug addict with 16 pills.

The police could quash these gangs in very little time if they focussed on taking them down and committed more resources to it and less resources to finding families for minor traffic infractions! They have more than enough resources to do this job but are failing us on a grand scale! This is where we consider whether we should have a secondary type of police force in competition with the force that runs amok and has all the tax dollars that they want! No Monopoly is good! Competition gets results! We really should have two police forces for each major urban area, food must share investigative results with one another to retain their viability.
