Just got the J.R.R Tolkein special pocket book sized box things it has the hobbit and the three LOTR I love it and excited to start the lord of the rings
How does a 9 year old end up reading novels? When I was 9 I was throwing stones and climbing around unfinished houses in building sites. I’m now in my 30s and only now having urges to read classic books
😀 I admit to being a bookworm from a very young age. People do tend to forget that The Hobbit is a children's book. My 10 year old niece recently finished reading it a bit before her 10th birthday.
@@Jaysenpl in late primary school, I remember being put in charge of the library (somehow lol). Putting books back in their place etc, I loved reading the Chillers books. But after primary I think reading became a bit of a chore, maybe it was the internet. Anyway, I'm especially looking forward to reading The Hobbit now 'because' it's a children's book, I'm imagining the experience going as smooth as a Coors Light. I started reading the Shakespeare plays recently, but the constant referral to the glossary to check the meaning of the same archaic word I've already looked up 20 times can get tedious.
@@stallebrass I believe you are correct! As much as I love all things Tolkien, I truly wish there weren't so many damned versions of every bloomin' Tolkien book!
Thank you! I enjoy your reviews! 🤗

I read the hobbit when I was seven. My dad was also a big reader. Maybe it runs in the family
How does this differ from the 70th anniversary edition?
I think they're the same.
The 70th has a little more foil on the spine of the dust jacket
I think this is the 70th edition NOT the 75th. The 75th edition is a smaller 'pocket' size and has a green hard cover under the dust jacket.

This is the 70th.
