Is upgrading AMD 3400G onboard graphics witha cheap Nvidia 1050ti card worth it?

We recently upgraded a 2 year old AMD system which had onboard graphics with a Nvidia 1050Ti card we had from another upgrade. These cards retail second hand at £60-£80 in the UK.
Is it worth bothering to do this upgrade?
Well it depends on your requirements but we show a good RPG from yesteryear (Skyrim) plays perfectly on 1080p after the upgrade when it lagged before.
Skyrim on Steam is currently £15.99 but often sells at half price. Its a big RPG from 2011.
