This game is a testament to the skill, wisdom and patience of the UConn coaching staff, beginning with Coach A. And a testament to the will of these players; they want to be UConn!
This is where I hoped UCONN would be at this point in the season. This was sort of a grudge match fro their loss to Marquette earlier. Nika is getting more dangerous on offense and I like it.
59:40 the intensity shared between Edwards and Coach A - a person can feel it. About a month ago Marquette thought they beat UConn, today they got a taste of what it is to play an intense UConn.
As always, thank you MJL. What a game. Aaliyah is a beast!! Relentless! Loved the discipline by the team and the just being in sync out there. Way to go, UConn!!
Amazing game! Off season is Husky season. They woke up from their winter sleep they took last month and now are back at it. They look so active physically and mentaly. Great suff to watch. I cant see anyone in the Big East to stop UCONN in this state. And crossing fingers for no more injuries with the way UCONN is ranked i can see them upsetting some teams. Dorka and Aaliyah absolutely dominant, as we have seen so often but to me the most outstanding was Nika: fell in love with her on the court the very first game i saw her 3 years ago, her hustle and defensive game was always captivating but recently she developed finally an offensive game in the progression of this season which makes her so much more dangerous. It is also amazing how the one player you always hear shouting calls is Nika, she never stops pushing and conducting the offensive and defensive game for the Huskies. True floor general.
There were a lot of great plays by UConn in this game, but, to me, the most impressive play was made by Bettencourt. She missed a break away layup, she didn't mope or pout, she made an all out, fullcourt sprint, stole the ball from Marquette, and got UConn another possession. Impressive will, drive, effort!
On offense it's team first, but individuals make shots. Today they were a tiny bit out of synch at first, but they got better as they go into the game. Getting a layup + foul was on spot today. On defense it's individual effort first and team defense to back that up. Today the defense was outstanding. They upped the pressure a notch from the Georgetown game. Marquette is a tough team to defend. They switch a lot very tightly, so it's hard to stay with them and they shoot fairly well from outside. But, their top scorers from their previous game were shut down completely. Excellent game.
MJL243 thanks for your effort.👍👍 More games waiting ahead ladies, just keep winning and take the Nat'l TITLE. that's not gonna be easy but UConn is built different...
Thank you of course MJ for this game. I was working these past couple of days during the games so i'm grateful for your replays. Big East Champs once again !!!! Let's go UConn. Congratulations !!!! All I know is, if this team keeping playing like this, oh man, oh man, they gone be dangerous come the NCAA tournament and i'm here for it. Let's get ittttttt. A force to be reckon with watch now
There best game yet. Like nobody had a bad game. Even though azzi’s or Caroline’s shots didn’t go in, it still made a difference with them just being in the game. Especially azzi, she drew so much attention
My favorite basketball teams is UConn teams and than of my favorite is UConn and players is A Edwards is C.William is E.Westbrook O.N.Ododa is C.descharme is N.Mulh is A. Griffin is l l. Seneshal
Who's the dude ref? he needs to just stop. I'm a uconn fan and I gotta say that dude gave us a few (calls or no's), we got away with a few bumps; Marquette coach had 2 or 3 legit gripes. . Not to worry tho', he was just as bad on the other side of the court. Nika, so many of her steals are off that crossover, she's locked in on what it looks like and where/when to tap the ball!
UConn's WBB is 26-5 this season because the Big Girls banged the boards & made bunnies while LouLou drained jumpers & Nika established a new assist record while earning "Defensive Player of the Year". Paige, Ice, Azzi, & Sweet Caroline were KO'ed for much or all of the season. That's 70 points in rehab. Dorka, Edwards, Griffin & Patterson made up for it by banging the boards, driving the lane, playing the post, & sinking free throws while Lou "Drano" Senechel shot 45 - 50% from the floor & Nika "Energizer Bunny" Muehl recorded at least 230 assists & passed UConn legend, Sue Bird, in the assist category. Watch out in Mad March now that Azzi Fudd & Caroline Ducharme are back in the lineup. Azzi gives UConn a legit All-America jump-shooter & Caroline gets the UConn offense rotating, posting up, & moving around the court while giving her teammates another legit, outside shooter. Having Azzi & Caroline in the line-up means that LouLou can't be hounded for an entire game by the opposition's best defender & Edwards can't be mugged in the low post by two or three determined players. Without Azzi & Caroline and with luck, UConn's Bunnies might have made it to the Sweet Sixteen, but with A&C, UConn can make it to the elite 8 & maybe the Final Four.
Last time Ducharme was hit it seemed like a tap and she missed several games. This time she actually caught a muay thai elbow and plays the next game lol.
@@markhathaway9456 Concur. She's not getting a lot of playing time. And she's only 17 and playing against grown women, at least the seniors. But that 3 ball was pure. Call it a glimpse of what we'll see in the future.
@@dominictramonte2687 I like the potential I see in her, but I wonder about her future with UConn. They brought her in after Paige got hurt to add depth at PG, but they haven't really used her much. Whether that's because the team hasn't spent the necessary time developing her, or she just hasn't developed, I don't know. She was really young, so they should have known what they were getting either way and been prepared to work with it. That doesn't seem to have happened, and with the returning players and incoming class at guard, I wonder about her role for next year.
@@hamiltzp Maybe. But I think you're worrying to early. Next year she'll be a sophomore, and 18. I wouldn't expect to see her in the starting lineup until she's a junior at least, and gotten her full height and weight. She should see more minutes, just to prepare her some, but no substantial playing time unless somebody gets hurt. There's nothing wrong with 6 points and 2 rebounds and a couple of assists in 10-15 minutes; not on Uconn. Consider, though: in her junior year Azzi will be a senior, and Paige and Nika and Aubrey will be graduated or 5th year seniors. By her senior year everyone will be gone, except maybe Azzi and Caroline. Nobody can predict the future, of course; and she may not develop as she can and should. But I can see good things for her if she sticks around. And we'd better recruit some guards (not that we haven't already; they're just not on campus yet.) Paige and Azzi are special; nobody expects to see a lot of a frosh if you aren't those two, or of equal quality. Certainly not on a team Geno coaches. She's the only guard we recruited in her class, not to mention she's not just a wing. She's a point guard, and a good one. I personally think she'll do just fine. Maybe not Sue or Paige or Jen Rizzotti, but she should be able to carry her own weight, and I think she'll get the chance. And who knows? Geno's worked miracles before. Maybe she will be Sue or Paige or Jen Rizzotti.

Rewatching this game for the fun of it. If Aubrey ever develops a consistent jumpshot she'd be a nightmare to guard considering her ability to get up really high. Lou looks like she got a shot to the chest from Marota.

I’m so relieved to see Caroline back at it today, and she was playing her usual game fearlessly. Stay healthy, UConn!
Thanks MJL, another stellar performance
Thank you so much MJL! This team is so good when they play with the skill they have.
