    Thank you for providing this video. I'm currently in my second year of graduate school for school psychologist now. Just to see sharing these basics provides me with more energy, as you know it;s challenging out here and in this profession as a brother of color.

    Thank you for making this video. The way you presented what a school psychologist is really helped me to understand the role. It is also nice to see some male representation. I have worked in healthcare at an entry level and have considered routes like nursing, social work, and school psychology, and it feels like men in more sensitive areas of healthcare is a rare thing.

    Hi, I am very interested in becoming a school psychologist but I read a lot of comments about others wishing they chose a different career and that the job is extremely demanding. I have no issues with a demanding job as long as I get breaks and time alone to regroup. I apologize for the long comment in advance and hope that you get a chance to respond.
    1.How much free time do you typically get on a work day?
    2. What characteristics make a good school psychologist?
    3. Is conflict common with this job?
    4. What is the quality of life like for a school psychologist during the school year?
    5. In your opinion, Would your typical SP have enough energy to be a part time therapist after work hours?
    6. Have you experienced any discrimination in this field being a a black male?

      Hi, and welcome to my channel! No need to apologize…it always makes me happy to hear from others interested in the field. These are GREAT questions that may help others with similar questions. Do you mind if I make a couple videos answering these questions?

    Is there any difference between a school counselor and a school psychologist?

    • @RillSheed
      @RillSheed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! That’s a great question and I’ll probably make a video on this topic in the near future 😊 There’s a lot of similarities and differences, but one difference is our training as school psychologists have a much greater emphasis on administering and interpreting psychological assessments to help determine if a disability exists.

    In our case, we’ve been fighting to get an IEP evaluation for months at our teacher misinformed us and told us that it’s too late in the year to evaluate or put in a referral for one. Is the school psychologist really on the side of the child or do they side with the teacher and do what’s more convenient for the teacher?

    • @RillSheed
      @RillSheed  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can’t speak on behalf of your school psychologist. I’m not aware of the case, nuance re: your school or school district intervention and special education policy/procedures (and to what extend pre-referral steps were implemented correctly), and other influencing factors. But the school psychologist (and the team) should review all of the present data related to the student concerns AND do what’s legal, ethical, and in the best interest of the student.

    I am from Algeria I have a master’s degree in school psychology. Can I authenticate my degree and work abroad?

    • @RillSheed
      @RillSheed  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Welcome to the channel! It depends on where you want to work and at what capacity. I'm not sure about other countries, but you'll most likely need an advanced degree and training beyond a masters degree before you're certified and/or licensed to be a school psychologist. Some places will allow you to administer assessments as a psychometrist under the supervision of a licensed professional. Start exploring where you want to live and finding out if your degree/credits will transfer so you can get on track to obtain certification/licensure (if necessary). That may mean finding a graduate program to continue any additional training. Good luck and I hope this helps!
