Scotty, I have a 99 Ford F-150 with the 4.6 liter, I'm at my wits end with trying to figure out why it won't accelerate to save it's life, the autel scanner pointed at the throttle position sensor, I put a new one in and no change at all, it runs lean on bank 2 with cylinder 8 misfiring, please advise
Scotty is such a good knowledgeable Man. What a great Dad from his busy personality. Cars are so cool. Makes me love America and Americans like Scotty. 🔴⚪🔵👍
New subscriber certainly not doing any of what you do, but sure like watching someone that tells it like it is. Your acknowledge of cars trucks etc is amazing.
Man i bet Scotty Kilmer really loves making these TH-cam videos cause hes got 5.8k videos on his channel hes been doing this for 16 years please do not stop doing TH-cam people rely on you i do Also ScOTTY im gonna buy a suburban 8th ir 9th gen are those trucks reliable if not tell me the biggest issues with them
I had a neighbor who owned a 2000 Expedition with the 2 valve 5.4 and four speed automatic with 250,000 miles and it still ran like new. From what I've been told is that you know your TPS is going or has gone bad on you when you go to accelerate and it bogs down on you.
Not always true, I just put a new throttle position sensor in my 99 with the 4.6 liter and guess what, it does the exact same thing as the old one, even the autel scanner says the exact same thing as the old one
My 1st & last Ford product was a 2003 F-150 Supercab assembled in Virginia. The Automatic transmission crapped out at 75K Then the replacement transmission crapped out at 90K ( because the National Chain used gasoline line instead of Transmission pressure lines) As a result I will never again have anything to do with Ford products.
I have a 2001 F150 5.4 4x4 extended cab, it has what I assume is a factory leveling kit or a small lift. It has 229,000 miles with the original engine and transmission as far as I know. I've changed all the fluids on it but other than that I agree with scotty, as long as it runs good enough it doesn't need to be perfect. Only paid $2,500 for it last year and isn't my daily driver. His must not have mufflers cause that's exactly how mine sounds true dual exhaust with no mufflers. I'm also gonna go ahead and replace that sensor on my truck after seeing this lmao, i feel mine could have a smoother idle and that's an easy part swap. Thanks Scotty.
Nowadays, even Toyotas and Hondas are having issues. It's a jungle out there. Thank our government for forcing all automakers to create needlessly complex powertrains in order to meet some pointless CAFE standard.
Scotty. I need your help as I think my mechanic lied to my face about my repairs. I'm getting p0012 and p0022 with p0304 on my vvt 3.0l V6 duratec engine. The car is beautiful and no leaks anywhere. I think the codes are from the wrong oil being put in the car and being low on oil. Did proper oil change. Car has 100k miles. I am getting bad mpgs. 10mpg. I think I just need a tune up and maybe a catalytic converter. I changed the spark in cylinder 4 and it was bad. Gapped to .75 when it should be .49-.53. Engine sounds good but car hesitates when accelerating, smell fuel from exhaust and bad mpgs, but no more trouble codes popping. Mechanic said my timing belt was destroyed and my head is blown and I laughed as I drove my car home from their shop. No billowing white smoke and a quiet engine on the ride home with my "busted timing chain". Also during oil change the oil had no shavings in it or anything. Just dirty oil from going 6 months without an oil change. Fully synthetic
Hi Scotty, I have a 97 chevy pu with 350 vortec, it just runs crappy. I've put in new plugs, wires, inline fuel filter, new fuel pump, new mass air flow sensor, new ignition module, new key switch, new head gaskets. Starts right up but has a lot of coughing and sputtering. What am I missing???
I have an 04 Expedition 4.6L with 349048 miles. Original motor and trans. Only real work was replacing the aluminum intake manifold for a metal one, and tapping and threading two spark plugs. Keep that oil changed!
Scotty love your videos great info but i have to ask when you test drive a vehicle and get to the part where you floor it what would you do if for some unknown reason the motor were to blow?😮
Hi Scott I got a 2.3 liter 1994 ford ranger with a manual transmission. You got any tips to increase horse power. When the wind blows this truck won't do 65 mph. Anything can help

I've just changed mines on my 2008 Sierra at 150k miles. Used a computer yet it still slammed into 1st and 2nd. Scared the heck out of me after the 3rd time I disconnected the battery and let it sit overnight. Guess that reset the computer 😊. A month late Scotty but thnx. He does know
Toyotas been using plastic intakes for decades and they never need replacing unless you overheat the motor now the gaskets go bad but they usually last a abnormally long time
Scotty, how can I get a scan tool that reads old cars that are maybe OBDI? I have an old (1998) Nissan and it needs CONSULT, or so I understand. Can I simply buy a new OBDII scan tool and then purchase an adapter? This doesn't seem likely to work. What do you do for really old cars?
🤔👀 As to longevity and service costs - 🤔 00:25 - I've had cause for some time now to wonder, given metal parts can be 3D printed to account for shrinkage in the kiln, what 3D scanning device/process do aftermarket parts manufacturers need to arrive at a 3D printed metal/ reinforced plastic replacements for plastic intakes in use by auto manufacturers.

Pretty much every single company uses a plastic intake on a metal,or aluminum head now..and a plastic type exhaust manifold....even toyota....has nothing to do with it being a ford..... But yes, it's stupid..and my Hondas ,Mazdas, and Ford's have all gone well over 300k and ran good...but, I've worked on cars for 20 years, and I maintain mine religiously.

Jacked up and Definitely beat on. Can't blame ford for the motor and transmission giving out. 99% of guys do driveway lift kits and call it a day

aluminum is a metal lmao I'm assuming you meant swapping the aluminum one for steel.
...or he meant replacing the plastic one for an aluminum one 🤔
Toyota uses those plastic intakes too

Toyota plastic is stronger than steel

Really this is not a Old Truck as this is second Motor and Transmission...
I and the Father are One John 10.30
Don't forget, it's Ford Truck Month.....😂
Good afternoon Scotty hope your day is well
Old is better!
How does a redline work? What happens mechanically and how does it actually work?
What happens to the engine etc.
Plastic intake manifolds stupid idea ? I guess BMW, Toyota, GM, Mercedes all stupid right Scotty ?☝️😂
Thanks for the tip on the throttle position sensor, Scotty! I have a 2005 V6 F150 with similar idling issues
Use an expanding snap ring plier for the master cylinder.
Plastic crap everywhere... if I tune my car plastics explode first... 😂
The underside of the hood looks burned.
Touch what? Maybe Scotty touches it too much.
Did you find the screwdriver tip?
Scotty got 07 ford 150 4.6 270000 on it stile going strong
I'll never buy Ford again!
If I didn't know better, I'd think that was Stellantis junk. Instead, it's a Found On Road Dead Flop-150.

FORD - Found on Road Dead.
Wow. Ford is JUNK!
F O R D. Fudge. Over. Rebuilt. Dodge
Some of the 5,4s had 4 cats under them.Mine got stolen and just bypassed them and it ran better.
I'm sorry Scotty, Toyota's of today are junk to, just like the rest of them.
Ford and GM like to use plastic to save money or reduce costs of manufacturing
Chevy and Dodge would of been junked by now, Toyota would be good !
I have always wondered...do we all see the same commercials?
It’s a Mazda one right?
I want Scotty as my neighbor.

I Have A 2001 Ford F150 Xlt Supercrew 4.6 With 341k Miles And Still Has The Original Motor And Transmission. My Aunt Was The Original Owner And I Bought It From Her.
I have a 2003 150 with 4.6 170,000 runs great. I recommend Scott's favorite ats carbon treatment ( oil and gas ) it helped my 3.0 99 ranger greatly.
I got a 2011 - 5.0 150 with 208,000 trouble free miles, running like a top !
I still have my 1971 F250 4x4 highboy, it’s amazing. The only thing I did to the powertrain was a first generation Cummins swap.
You must do proper maintenance religiously. All the guys who owned ford's went another route when they got a new truck. Mostly to Toyota or Nissan.
It's all about how you take care of it.
Oh wow! I raised my hood and started my engine, I touched it, and now my car runs so much better.
