    I’d buy the cheap ones because insurance will cover the cost to repair car. My extinguishers r for saving people from potential fires

    • @rickkephartactual7706
      @rickkephartactual7706 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The cheap ones are not worth it, the dry powder gets into everything and the repairs will never get it all out and once moisture interacts with the powder corrosion will start. For a few dollars more you can prevent it.

      The cheap ones is quick to access, and easy to use. The heavy ones gets packed so far away that you can not reach it in a fire. And the heavy ones loose their pressure, so the they you need it, they do not work.

    Here is s bracket called the Bracketeer, been around for years. Very sturdy, great customer care after the sale.
    Allows you to mount many different fire extinguishers on the floor in front of our behind driver/passenger seat, or elsewhere.
    But, on the floor in front of the driver's seat puts it in a location that lets you grab it as fast as possible without having to unlock o toolbox or get into the rear of an SUV, etc.
    You may consider an extra fire extinguisher, and even make it a larger CO2, or dry type with fluidized and siliconized monoammonium phosphate powder. If you happen upon a major wreck and someone is trapped, it would be a horrible thing to live with if a small extinguisher played out and the worse ensued. Although, it would not be your fault. Hopefully you will always have enough to contain the fire until professional help arrived.
    I happened upon a wreck/fire that started afterwards on top of an interstate overpass. First responders were about 15 miles away and traffic was backed up. NO ONE had a fire extinguisher in the immediate vicinity. A couple of truckers came along with one, but they weren't enough by that time.
    I never forgot that night with the sounds and smells. I have four fire extinguishers in my trucks and cars. May sound like overkill, but it's just the way it is, now.
    Glad you got a Halon extinguisher. They are liquefied gas and come out as part liquid and part gas.
    Good luck and hopefully you'll never need it 👍. Thanks for sharing the video.

I have a large communication rack in the back of the Jeep and communication equipment in the front of the Jeep, everything was installed professionally, but you can never be too careful. During the hot months, I wouldn’t recommend having your Halatron fire extinguisher near the window, since it’s content’s are under high pressure, it can heat up and even explode. So be careful. The Jeep fire I saw online started in the engine compartment, then burned past the so-called firewall despite the use of two fire extinguishers being used on it and appearing to make good headway. After the use of each one it reignited itself quickly.

    • @milesquesnel2821
      @milesquesnel2821 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @jcs5202
      @jcs5202 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The JK fire you saw online was as a result of the driver parking his (hot) Jeep in tall, dry grass. Cats started the fire and that's why it looks like it's at the firewall. It's actually underneath, and by the time he was emptying TWO extinguishers on the top of the engine, the fire was spreading under it...in any case, something is better than nothing, and maybe a $150 extinguisher "saves" electronics, but like somebody else mentioned, maybe the insurance co. deals with everything, while you save your life👍🏻

    Always carry ABC rated fire extinguishers in vehicles. Be sure it is very easy to access. Another good idea....learn how to properly use a fire extinguisher properly...not just pull the pin and randomly spray. They don't last long so you want your efforts to be effective. Ask your local firefighters to show you the proper way to use it and you may just save a lot more of your vehicle than without the knowledge.

    White chemical is possibly listed for B and C type of fires. CAUTION: Some smaller ABC rated extinguisher only show BC on the extinguisher label due to not being capable of passing the test for class A fires. Chemical color no longer determines the type of chemical due to imported extinguishers. Some of the colors of chemicals are white, yellow, pink, purple, pink.

  • @tristanweis5065
    @tristanweis5065 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So this is an older video, but I don’t believe gas type extinguishers work on class C fires. Which are electrical. It may douse the flames, but won’t stop the flow of electricity. And a fire in the engine compartment is gonna toast a lot of electrical things. I’d take my chances with a mess and possibly additional repairable damage to electrical components than a total loss because my extinguisher ran out and it reignited because the current wasn’t interrupted with something that doesn’t conduct electricity. AKA messy white/yellow powder.

      monoammonium phosphate powder. It eats aluminium and rusts the ass out of metals literally within hours of being exposed to moisture. Even moisture from the air will permanently etch and eat away at any metallic surface that it comes in contact with. Unless you have no choice i would never use one on something you want to keep. Firefighters all say oh you gotta have one, but its not their car and they arent the ones who have to deal with the end result, and the end result is usually scrapping the vehicle.

      Actually, the CO2 extinguisher extinguishes the fire by removing the oxygen from the area. Not very effective if it's windy out...

    Lost me when you said the price. Hopefully I’m using it on someone else’s Jeep!

    That's why we have insurance, so we don't have to endanger ourselves. I do have a fire extinguisher in my Jeep, but it's not to put out a fire in my Jeep, it's for when I go camping or other events. Unless you have the thing already out and ready to go, by the time you get to it and get it ready, the damage is done, so let the insurance take care of the damage. IJS

      When you have almost 40k in mods trust me insurance doesn’t cover any of it here in NY

    Most fire extinguishers that you would use in your jeep be rated which nine out of 10 times I find or dry powder sometimes you get them with CO2 or halon 1211 in them but most of the time they’re filled with dry powder if you want it for your automobile you should get it in a small lightweight fire extinguisher and now a big wonky one this will make it easy if your vehicle catches on fire to immediately go back grab the extinguisher and attempt to put out the fire it should be also said that you should keep fire extinguishers exposed 24 seven instead of having them hidden under the seat The pin should always be kept in you should never discharge her unless you need it to and you should always replace it if it goes flat that’s my word on it but this goes for any vehicle quiet heavy machinery you can even get one for your bicycle they sell so many of them honestly I want to get one for my vehicle but unfortunately I cannot find them that meet my requirements for it I can’t find one that’s lightweight but also discharges at a 6 foot max radius I also cannot find one that ABC rated instead of BC rated also you should not endorse one of the most harmful global warming substances ever known to man which is halon i’ll admit as a person who has invested halon it is quite a good substance but instead you should use novec 1230 which is a substance that has very little chance of depleting ozone or becoming a greenhouse gas unlike halon

      Halotron is not halon, it's halon's replacement.

      @@aaronj08ar Yes I know but they do have similar chemical make ups. Hence the name is being very similar. And yet they are still both devastating to the environment

    This applies to anyone that owns a shitty jeep hahahahaha.
    Actually you shouldn't buy an extinguisher, what you should do is fully insure your jeep and hope that it burns to the ground so you get your money back and can buy a proper 4wd.
    The dry white powder is known as monoammonium phosphate powder. Its extremely caustic to aluminum eats away and etches and rusts steel and reacts badly with magnesium.
    For example if your engine block is cast which it will be this shit will eat away at it.
    Halotron is damaging to the ozone, not as bad as Halon, but worse than say carbon dioxide. Which ultimately your better off having but you need a much bigger bottle for co2 extinguishers as they run out in about 5 seconds from a middle sized bottle.
    Because the powder types are super caustic ...That means any steel they used to build that, will rust away even quicker than factory rust.
    The powder corrodes all your electrical terminals and gets into places that you wont ever be able to clean. By the way, most insurance companies here where i live, will write the vehicle off after discharge of a powder type extinguisher.
    Your better off driving the car into the ocean than spraying a powder extinguisher. crazy hey.
