I've been all about folk music since I was 11 y.o. (1959) and saw Makem and the Clancy Bros on the Ed Sullivan show. I've played stringed instruments now for almost 60 years and the magic is stronger than ever. Erin go Bragh!

Dave Siler}, then You were and Are a very lucky man that you Heard and Saw this remarkable man life on stage. I do admire you a big bit. For me there’s the little pleasure i saw dear old Luke twice live in a concert in, as i recall that well, 1982 and again in ‘85. But about the last date i’m not totally sure. I only do know for sure that it was just a cóuple of months before His tragic death. Far too young very sadly.... Just as that great Scot Andy M. also did tragically. His voice was also superb!!

Great singing(and tricky lyrics) from Tommy and Liam.....not to mention mighty fiddle playing from Martin Murray from Liams home town of Carrick on Suir Co. Tipperary.

Love this! So exciting to see something "new"! I never got to see Ballad of St. Anne's Reel live, because the fellas couldn't afford to bring a fiddle to any of the venues where I saw them. Been one of my huge favorites ever since I first heard it! Thank you, Anonymous! (I think I know who you are, but I won't spill the beans!)

One of my favorites! Never got to hear it live because where I heard them was too far to bring a fiddler.

Interesting. I'd never heard them sing it. First one I'd ever heard sing it was John Denver, so I've always liked his version the best. Still do. :) But great video, nonetheless.

I'll check John's out. While this is good and they are great singers, I find it more of a pub singalong style.

Love this version of The Ballad of the St Anne's Reel.
    Johnny McEvoy with Phillip
playing fiddle sang a very good version of this Ballad.

For some reason i think this is better than the dubliners version. Makem and Clancys voices bring it across much better

I don't remember seeing Liam playing anything besides a guitar or concertina, but apparently he did play the bodhran sometimes. Maybe Tommy taught him, he played it on plenty of songs.
