I understand not wanting to use the brush because it may lead to scratches but if you rush through a wash like this without ever doing a contact wash and then dry it with microfiber towels in the end you are likely to get scratches. You are not going to get the vehicle fully clean this way and when you run the towels across your paint all those things you missed will be dragging on your paint as well. Either do a full touch less meaning drying that way as well or give it a contact wash to remove all contaminants. If you do full touch less understand it probably won’t be 100% clean but at least you won’t have caused any scratches.

So I had a 2007 black honda civic with a faded, bad paint job and just a bunch of other problems, & RARELY washed it. Now I have a 2016 white honda civic and I know I need to take care of it like you car gurus 😅
So I went to the car wash today and I thought I did a pretty decent job with it being my first time... wrong! I rinsed, used the FOAM BRUSH, then rinse again. Banged the cable thing against my car a few times. Then Dried my car with 2 microfiber towels and other random drying towels I saw laying around in my house 😅 But I did my door jams, so I’m proud of that.
I do have a question about the foaming part. I see it on IG and other youtube videos. What does it do exactly and when should I do it if I want to try it at the coin carwash.
Anyways, this is the best video I found on youtube that thoroughly tells me how to use the equipment. The other ones are more like vlogs and just show you. So thank you!!

Please don't use the brush it hurts the paint even if you clean it it will still scratch your car look at it like this if you use a scouring pad that's rough on your body what what does it feel like so that's what it feels like on a car when using the brushAbrasive brushes can scratch your car's paint
While most newer car washes have swapped out those old abrasive brushes for softer ones, the slapping against the side of your car can still cause trouble: The brushes are covered with grit from all the cars before yours

You can use the brush but before you use it rinse it with the high pressure water then all the dirt and whatever else is in it will be gone. While doing it keep the brush in the air do not let it touch the ground or put it back in the tray if it was in one. This will give you a clean brush to work with.

Undercarriage will be tough with the spray gun but if you can reach underneath and spray it down that would be ideal. Many of the touch-less self washes also have a touch-less automatic wash that will spray the undercarriage. You can always hook up a undercarriage washer to your home garden hose or pressure washer to address that as well. Mirrors should be addressed same was as rest of vehicle!

pre-soak is a waste of money, its low pressure and does not do anything, your better off using the high pressure soap to start to be honest. If you are wanting to use the animal hair brush, just spray it out first, its no different then using a mit at home that you clean off and reuse. Some people just dont make sure its clean before they use it and could still have sand and other debris in it.

unless you clay bar and get every single speck of dirt off the car (which the touchless wash doesn't even come close) then when you dry the car, you are going to scratch the vehicle. You might not have huge thick scratches, no, but I'd beat money that if you look close you'll find micro scratches and I beat your rag is filthy when you get done. All that dirt on your rag just shredded your car. I'd rather have a few water spots than damaged paint, no thank you. If it's distilled water, then your not gonna get spots anyways. If you're not sure, let the car dry on its own one day and you'll know if they lied or not. You might be wasting time and effort and scratching your car even drying the thing.
