When exo debuted, they were almost hated by everyone and have been called sm’s biggest mistake because of their bizarre concept. A super large group who wants to conquer both korea and china by releasing songs in both and having subgroups to promote in both at the same time. They were gone for a year, and people thought they were gonna disband, until they came back with wolf which surprisingly got the, their first music show win, despite being a very experimental song at that time. And their popularity shot up when they came back with the repackage album, with the title growl. Up until now, it is exo’s most popular song (well maybe that and loveshot). That song got them several music show wins! And got them several daesangs (for being song of the year). Daesangs are the highest prize one can attain in korean award shows. There are several daesangs, album of the year, song of the year and artist of the year. Exo also sold 1 million physical copies of their album the same year and got them album of the year as well. They revived the physical sales market for selling a million copies for the first time in 12 years (since the digital age came, physical sales were on all time low). And this was on their 2nd year of being a group. Of course exo faced more obstacles after that but remaining this popular on their 8th year, i am already amazed. I even stanned them on their 6th year, when most kpop groups should be declining. And now they’e entering the military and having solos, and units, it’s just amazing seeing how great they’ve become and waiting for how much greater they’ll be in the future ^^

So exo members were chosen through years of auditions and training. There were 23 teasers and 2 predebut mvs. And exo's debut is still the most expensive debut in kpop until now though exo were the biggest flop of sm after the debut. They had a huge anti-fanbase even before their debut and only 17 people attended in their first fan-sight. But SuperM is going to have the most expensive debut in kpop after a few months this year. Exo’s concept includes this really really amazing story. How they are aliens from a different planet who have super powers. They have this enemy called red force who is constantly trying to defeat them. Their mv’s are in some type of jumbled order, but it’s portraying one big story line. They are able to move from different alternate universes too. And portray different roles. A fan theory for them is everytime there is a great battle with the redforce, their memories are wiped off and they are sent to different spots on earth (check pathcode teasers). But yeah, it’s a whole lot to discover about exo, i suggest you familiarize with mvs and music and the members themselves first before diving this deep. This version of EXO's "Growl" is a one take video, which means that it was shot all in one take without any cuts or edits. However, although it is a one take video, this does not mean they used the very first take, it just means that every time anyone made a mistake they had to start all over again from the very beginning. They did it about 7 times and this was the one the director and producer decided to use. They actually danced this choreography until they physically could not do it any more. But, if you know what you are looking for, you will see that not even this take was technically "perfect" because, if you notice, Kai drops the hat in the middle of the dance and he smoothly bends down and picks it up. He needed the hat at the end. But because it was done so effortlessly that most people don't even notice the mistake, or assume its just part of the choreography, they decided to use this footage anyway. In the beginning of the MV you start out by seeing the 6 EX0-K members and as the camera spins around you see the 6 EXO-M members. During this time there were 12 members in EXO and you see all 12 member in this MV. You are watching the EXO-K version of the song so you see the EXO-K members featured first. If you watch the EXO-M version you will see the EXO-M members featured more prominently. When EXO debuted they had 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups. EXO-K, which sang their songs in Korean and promoted in Korea, and EXO-M, which sang those same songs in Mandarin Chinese and promoted in China. EXO-K was made up of 6 Korean members (Suho, Baekhyun, D.O, Chanyeol Kai, and Sehun); and EXO- M was made up of 4 Chinese members (Kris, Luhan, Tao and Lay) and 2 Korean members (Xiumin and Chen -- as you can see Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) and Chen (Kim JongDae) were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in with the Chinese group.) In "Call Me Baby" you will see there are only 10 members.This was the first MV after 2 of their Chinese members left (Kris and Luhan) and this was the last MV were we see Tao, the third Chinese member that left the group. Tao left the group shortly after this. In the beginning when they had 12 members they produced all their songs in both Korean and Mandarin and they learned all the lyrics in both Korean and Mandarin. But after the Chinese members left, they they no longer had enough EXO-M members to promote on their own so they officially combined the groups into one with 9 members. Now that they no longer promote as the two separate groups, they now only produce their main tracks in both Korean and Mandarin and EVERY MV will have a Korean version and a Mandarin version, which will be shot as two individual MVs. All the members learn the lyrics in Mandarin for their Mandarin versions of their songs and they all work really hard to make sure their pronunciation is perfect in any language they perform in. You should also check out the EXO-M Mandarin Chinese version of "Call Me Baby." If you watch the two MVs side by side, you will see that the members that are featured in each part are different and even in the dances where you think "it's the same" there are different members doing different parts. Their MVs may be similar, but that's only because they filmed the MV twice and deliberately made the scenes look the same. Also if you really pay attention, the scenes may look the same, but the members who sing the parts are different depending on the version that you watch. In the Mandarin version you will see the EXO-M members featured more (Lay, Xiumin, Chen and Tao) and they sing the main parts, and in the Korean version the EXO-K members (D.O., Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Sehun, Suho and Kai) sing those same parts. The scenes may look the same, but the singers are different. In the Mandarin version a lot of the main parts where sung by Lay but in the Korean version D.O sings those parts and in the Mandarin version the rap was done by Tao and Xiumin, where in the Korean version its Chanyeol and Sehun, etc.

Even as an international fan, I found myself amazed at EXO's talent, story, and overall concept as soon as MAMA came out. I kept an eye on them since and really became a fan a few years later. It was mindblowing for the time - although it took a while for people to get into them since they were different from other groups at the time. They've struggled and had their ups and downs, but they are one of the most popular groups today thanks to their hard work. The guy whose voice you seem to love is Kyungsoo (stage name is D.O.). He's an accomplished actor and an incredibly talented vocalist. He's currently in the military with the eldest member - Xiumin (my bias). SM's groups are overall just so amazing. Shinee, NCT, Red Velvet, SNSD, TVXQ... not to mention the solo artists. The list is too big to include. I may not like the company much but the artists are fantastic.

Did you know that in Korean MAMA is a term they use to address a leader or King or queen? Its a term of reverence and respect. It's similar to saying "Your majesty." If you watch very many historical Korean dramas you will hear the characters call the royal family and especially the head of the royal family or leader "Mama." So in this song they are speaking to the leader or deity who sent them to Earth, essentially asking, "Now that I'm here, Your Majesty what should I do? How do I fulfill what you have sent me to do? etc." To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and It is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept. So to really understand EXO you really need to start from the very beginning and watch both of their "Mama" MVs. From the very beginning, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one if not all of them using their powers. Now that you have seen the EXO-K version of "Mama" you really need to watch the EXO-M version. its important you know EXO's story and really pay attention to the introduction of this MV and the whole story in this MV to understand everything that happens from now on in all the rest of EXO's MVs. Every MV and everything EXO does is connected. Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary.The groups concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents. EXO's concept is also connected to real life planetary and solar events so all of EXO's comebacks and new song releases for the main group of EXO are all connected to when eclipses and other planetary phenomenons take place. For example, their "War" album and "Power" album release and comeback coincided with when we had a solar eclipse, etc. SM Entertainment has all their release dates and concepts planned out for years and it all has something to do with real celestial events that are predicted to take place. In order to really understand EXO, you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 of the members. Kris and Luhan left in 2014 and Tao left in 2015.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce all their main track songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. So not only does EXO have amazing MVs, but its always double because any time they have a Korean version they also will have a Mandarin version so it means they have to shoot two separate videos..Their fandom name is EXO-L because L falls right between K and M and it stands for Love. 😍Get it? EXO-K, EXO-L, EXO-M (K-L-M in the alphabet) In the EXO-K version of "Mama" (The version you just watched) the members are using their powers to search for and meet up with the EXO-M members. That is why you see the K members traveling to find the M member. For example, you see Kai using his power of teleportation as he searches for the M members and you see Baekhyun use his power of light and Suho with his power of water, Chanyeol with the power of fire using his Phoenix wings, D.O. with the power of earth and strength and Sehun controlling the wind. Because Xiumin is one of the two Korean members of EXO-M, you see him appear in the mirror because the K members are searching for him and he is being summoned, etc. As the story goes, when EXO arrived on Earth they did not all arrive together. Their story starts out that they were dropped on Earth in different locations all over the world and they have to search for each other and meet up, kind of like in a quest, before they can begin to figure out how to accomplish the tasks they have been sent to Earth to do. If you want to see the EXO-M members and their story and superpowers you need to watch the EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) version of "Mama" The M version will feature the EXO M members such as Xiumin, Chen, Lay, Kris, Luhan and Tao and they will be the ones singing the main parts of the song. You only see small clips of the M members in the Korean version because this is EXO-Ks version of the song and MV. But in the Chinese version the story continues and EXO-M members are the ones that sing and dance. You have to see both MVs to understand the full story. Each member in EXO-K also has a counterpart in EXO-M that fills the same role in each group. For example, D.O. is the main vocalist in EXO-K and Chen is the main vocalist in EXO-M; Baekhyun is the second main vocalist in K and Luhan was the second main vocalist in M; Chanyeol is the main rapper in K and Kris was the main rapper in M; Sehun is the lead rapper in K and Xiumin is the lead rapper in M; Kai is the main dancer in K and Lay is the main dancer in M; and then its Suho is a lead vocalist in K and Tao was a rapper/vocalist in M (I'm not sure how these two really work together because Tao is more of a rapper and Suho is a vocalist, but because they are the last two they are put together.) The tattoos on Kai's face and body say EXO and also all of the EXO member's names, or at least the 6 EXO-K members names, as well as EXO's symbol and other hidden clues to EXO's origin story. Now that you have seen "Mama" and are starting to understand EXO's backstory, if you watch any of their other MVs, such as their "Power" MV, it should make more sense to you. if you keep in mind all the details about them being aliens with superpowers and how they are on a mission, etc. The "Power" MV is all about how the Red Forces stole EXO's powers and they had to fight the robot, which was under the Red Forces control, to get their powers back. And once they got their powers back they were then sent to Earth. The one thing you have to keep in mind with all of EXO's MVs, and I really mean all of them (including EXO-CBX MVs and even most of Lay's solo MVs), is that they are all connected and they all tell a little more of EXO's story and why they are on Earth, etc. Understanding "Mama' should also help you understand their "Ko Ko Bop" MV better as well. ("Ko Ko Bop" is supposed to be about them just arriving on Earth and learning to master their powers.) Some theories even connect the story in their "Lucky One" MV to the story in "Ko Ko Bop". In "Lucky One" EXO has been captured by the the Red Forces and they are doing experiments on EXO to try and figure out what makes them special in an effort to stop EXO from finding and protecting the Tree of Life.. In "Lucky One" the EXO members use their powers to escape the facility. So some theories say that the story in "Ko Ko Bop" is EXO trying to detox from the drugs they were given in the government facility and the blue Ko Ko Bop drink Shuo mixes and the members drink is to counteract the effects of the drugs in their system. That is why the members act so out of it and in a drugged state in "Ko Ko Bop." Unfortunately,, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in their MVs here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K Suho: water (Fun fact: did you know that Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO? That's why as the leader of EXO, Kim Jun Myeo's stage name is Suho) Baekhyun: Light Chanyeol: fire D.O: earth (dirt) which gives him strength/force Kai : teleportation Sehun : Wind EXO-M Xiumin: snow/ice (frost) Lay: healing Chen: thunder/lightning/electricity (As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese group) The Chinese members that are no longer part of the group: Kris: Flight (He was the leader of EXO-M when they used to promote as two separate groups.) Luhan: telekinesis (control things with his mind) Tao: Controlling time (He is the martial artist of the group so he is the one that did the tricks and flips in their performances.).
If you want to understand the story in EXO's "Love Shot" MV it might be easier if you just look up a theory video or go to a fan site where it explains the theories behind what and why things are happening in the MV,. Because out of all of EXO's MVs, "Love Shot" snf "Tempo" -- EXO's two most recent MVs -- have so much going on that you probably won't even understand unless you take the time to get to know the complete backstory behind it all. The story behind what is happening in "Love Shot" and "Tempo" is so complex that I don't even think I have enough room in one comment box to explain everything I KNOW and that's only a small part of the story. I am sure there is tons that I am missing as well. :D As with most of EXO's songs and MVs, the song and the story in the MV are two separate things. There are two messages that the story tells in the MV. Yes the lyrics are loosely based on the story in the MV, but the main point of the MV is mostly to tell another part of EXO's story and to help explain what they are doing here on Earth as part of their mission. In "Love Shot" I'm not sure why they first ended up at the service station or the cinema, but the story in this MV is all about how the Red Force is trying to corrupt and control them. You really need to look up fan theory's of this MV to understand what is happening in "Love Shot" because, for example, supposedly, most fans agree, that Xiumin may have been captured and cloned by the Red Force. If you notice Xiumin is squaring off with someone in a mask, when the mask is removed you see that that person is Xiumin. And when Baekhyun is sitting in the theater watching the film, you see what fans agree is probably Suho, the leader, trying to protect the members and prevent Baekhyun from watching the film which is thought to probably be the Red Force trying to control EXO, etc. They are fighting to discover who has been corrupted by the Red Force and who may not be who they say they are, etc. so they are very suspicious pointing their guns, which are filled with alcohol at each other. This whole MV is part of EXO's origin story and it is a big part of their storyline which is all about how they are trying to battle against the Red Force, etc. The story in their "Love Shot" MV is pretty complex and hard to understand unless you understand EXO's backstory and what lead up to everything that has happened in EXO's storyline so far. The flowers have two purposes, one is they represent Love and EXO is collecting love, but also the flowers are a big part of EXO's storyline and how the flower theme has been continued throughout all of EXO's MVs. The flowers are thought be be something that EXO is collecting and trying to get rid of to prevent the Red Force from being able to control people, etc. As one of the lines in their "Monster" song says, "We don't need no money." EXO doesn't need the money so they aren't robbing banks for money, but they are stealing the flowers for a later, unknown purpose we have yet to figure out. Some of what happens in this story is explained by past MVs and will also hopefully be explained as the story continues in future MVs. But you should also know that no one really knows for sure what is happening in any of EXO's MVs. There are well known theories and storylines that are accepted within the fandom which we think might explain what is happening in each MV. And there are theories about how each MV is connected and where each falls within their larger storyline,, but nothing is set in stone. It's all just fan theories. Everything that has to do with EXO is just one big mystery that SM has been crafting since the group's conception and its our job as fans to try and piece it all together. We only hope that someday SM will reveal what it all means so we know whether our theories were any where close to being correct. So far, its been 7 years, and we still have no idea where the next MV will take us. As the English lyrics in "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy,." The song's called "Monster" so the words are about acting like a Monster "Don't be afraid love is the way... i'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo." LOL So the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think was -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- them using their powers. However, the lyrics of the song really have very little to do with the story in the MV. "Monster" is one example where if you want to know what the song and lyrics are about you should watch an English lyric video. Because the lyrics in the song tell a different story than the story in the MV. In the song the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. So ... "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... you can call me Monster ... because I'm creeping in your heart babe." The song is about possessing a girl and using her up and throwing her away in the end, but the MV really is about EXO's origin story and about the fact that they are aliens from Plant Exo and they are searching for clues to help them on their quest to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Some say the "girl" that EXO is always singing about and you sometimes see in their MVs is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life and that is why the members are always rescuing or protecting the girl, etc. And why all their songs are about being in love with a girl or being controlled by the power of the girl, such as in "Overdose" for example. Or how they talk about knowing they are bad news for the girl but they want her anyway and they can't help it, but in the end they know they might destroy her -- as they say in "Monster," etc. etc. When you think of the girl as the heart of the Tree of Life, you begin to see even more parallels to EXO's story and even more ways to connect even more of it all together. Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so when/if you watch the dance practice and/or the live performances really pay attention to the choreography so you can find the parts where they use their powers. For example: when D.O. makes a gesture with his arms all the members are pulled toward him or pushed away from him because he is using his power of force/strength; when Xiumin moves across in front of the rest of the members you will see them all pause as if frozen because he used his power of frost/ice; and when Sehun stands in the middle of the group the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm because Sehun controls wind, etc. This is one of the best examples of how EXO continues their concept and story in everything they do, including in their choreography. Everything, down to the most minute detail, is expertly thought out and planned to always stick to their concept and story. Also, I think their next MV for their song "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster" so when/if you watch "Lotto", just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is going to take place after the events in "Lotto", and both MVs might make a little more sense to you then. I'm not positive how "Monster" and "Lotto" tie in to EXOs larger storyline. But I do know, and am almost positive, that "Lotto" is the prequel to "Monster." So if you pay attention I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are maybe sort of undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys (maybe members of the Red Force.) "Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Forces or the bad guys, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So that's why you see in "Lotto" and continued in "Monster" the members are fighting against the FBI or police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. For some reason the members of EXO don't want to be discovered so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. But in the end, as you see in "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape before they are taken to jail and/or are captured by the Red Forces, etc. As you can see all of the stories in EXO's MVs are connected. All of EXO's MVs and storylines from everything EXO has ever been involved in are connected, including EXO-CBX MVs and many of the members' solo MVs, and it all tells a little more of EXO's story. We just have to pay close attention to every detail and put the pieces together. EXO's MVs are all like one continues drama or mystery. You will never understand anything about EXO's MVs until you first understand EXO's origin story. As with everything EXO does, you have to keep in mind that the whole concept of the group is that they are supposed to be aliens from Planet Exo and they came to Earth on a mission. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and they have been sent to Earth to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Unfortunately,, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, songs, albums, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in their MVs and live performances here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeo) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: did you know that Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO? That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho) 💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light 🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix. 🌏D.O. The rapper name with the deepest voice is Chanyeol. He can sing, rap, compose and write music and play every kind of music instrument. He and the other rapper, Sehun, recently debuted in a sub unit EXO-SC with a mini album What A life. They have 3 mvs "What a life","Just is 2" and "Closer to you". They participated in the lyrics of every song and Chanyeol and his produce team Loey, composed and arranged "Rollercoaster" and "Daydreamin'" which in my opinion are their best songs. The guy you liked the voice, is one of the main Vocalist, his name is Do KyungSoo. His stage name is D.O. he has a station song, 2 OST and I 5hink is 3 collaboration songs. He is a excellent actor, his drama 100 days my prince is amazing. He won many awards as an actor. He has many movies as well. Currently he is serving in the military so he won't be back with exo until 2021, if my maths don't betray me. Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) our eldest member is as well in the military and will be back around 1 or 2 months before D.O. "i feel like they spent their whole life in the dance room" that's pretty accurate honestly xD K-Pop idols have to train for years before they can actually debut. Teenagers and pre teens join entertainment companies like SM and are called "trainees" while they train. they get vocal , dance and singing lessons, have to work out and diet, sometimes get surgery and learn how to behave as an idol. If they're good enough and strong enough to endure all of this, they get to debut. A member of NCT, also a boy group under SM, once said "We're the ones who made it". Being an idol/trainee is extremely hard, you work pretty much 24/7

If you read the english translation of MAMA, you'll see that EXO is asking the MAMA ("Your Highness" in english) what are they going to do on earth since their concept is that they're from EXO planet that came to earth to take The Red Force. EXO has been trained hard. They sang while they're on a treadmill. In live shows, they sound like they're lip syncing but they can really sing live and they sound good! Rappers can sing and singers can also rap. Their harmonizations are 💯 I would like to add too that Growl is what made EXO big in Korea and up until now, it is still used as confession to someone you like, especially in North Korea. Their achievements are what made them Kpop Representative, Nation's Pick and Ambassador of Tourism in Korea. They are being brought along when the SoKor president meets with big names in politics, recently was with Trump. EXO don't have plans on promoting outside Asia. Their plan is just to enter Korea and China market by releasing both Korean and Chinese versions of their songs. Right now, they also have Japanese versions. Imagine if they promote in the west?

When exo debuted, they were almost hated by everyone and have been called sm’s biggest mistake because of their bizarre concept. A super large group who wants to conquer both korea and china by releasing songs in both and having subgroups to promote in both at the same time. They were gone for a year, and people thought they were gonna disband, until they came back with wolf which surprisingly got the, their first music show win, despite being a very experimental song at that time. And their popularity shot up when they came back with the repackage album, with the title growl. Up until now, it is exo’s most popular song (well maybe that and loveshot). That song got them several music show wins! And got them several daesangs (for being song of the year). Daesangs are the highest prize one can attain in korean award shows. There are several daesangs, album of the year, song of the year and artist of the year. Exo also sold 1 million physical copies of their album the same year and got them album of the year as well. They revived the physical sales market for selling a million copies for the first time in 12 years (since the digital age came, physical sales were on all time low). And this was on their 2nd year of being a group. Of course exo faced more obstacles after that but remaining this popular on their 8th year, i am already amazed. I even stanned them on their 6th year, when most kpop groups should be declining. And now they’e entering the military and having solos, and units, it’s just amazing seeing how great they’ve become and waiting for how much greater they’ll be in the future ^^

The first kpop band to consist of both korean and Chinese members in order to enter Chinese and Japanese market with a bang.And also to start the third generation kpop with the different flavour in music from the second generation. So exo members were chosen through years of auditions and training. There were 23 teasers and 2 predebut mvs. And exo's debut is still the most expensive debut in kpop until now though exo were the biggest flop of sm after the debut. They had a huge anti-fanbase even before their debut and only 17 people attended in their first fan-sight. But SuperM is going to have the most expensive debut in kpop after a few months this year. That's all I know.

Exo’s concept includes this really really amazing story. How they are aliens from a different planet who have super powers. They have this enemy called red force who is constantly trying to defeat them. Their mv’s are in some type of jumbled order, but it’s portraying one big story line. They are able to move from different alternate universes too. And portray different roles. A fan theory for them is everytime there is a great battle with the redforce, their memories are wiped off and they are sent to different spots on earth (check pathcode teasers). But yeah, it’s a whole lot to discover about exo, i suggest you familiarize with mvs and music and the members themselves first before diving this deep. Just remember that sometimes in mvs, they have powers, and sometimes they don’t

There r also 3 EXO members who left the group who were in the MAMA, Growl and Call me baby MV so you won't be confused how there is 12 members in the first video but 8 in the most recent one. Also Xiumin and D.O are currently in the military Xiumin will be back in 2020 and D.O in 2021... so now EXO does their concerts with 6 people and we still don't know who's the next one that will go to the military but they will all eventually go.

EXO's MVs are great, but their live performances are 100x better. I recommend their live performances from their concert stage in Tokyo Dome.
This version of EXO's "Growl" is a one take video, which means that it was shot all in one take without any cuts or edits. However, although it is a one take video, this does not mean they used the very first take, it just means that every time anyone made a mistake they had to start all over again from the very beginning. They did it about 7 times and this was the one the director and producer decided to use. They actually danced this choreography until they physically could not do it any more. But, if you know what you are looking for, you will see that not even this take was technically "perfect" because, if you notice, Kai drops the hat in the middle of the dance and he smoothly bends down and picks it up. He needed the hat at the end. But because it was done so effortlessly that most people don't even notice the mistake, or assume its just part of the choreography, they decided to use this footage anyway.
In the beginning of the MV you start out by seeing the 6 EX0-K members and as the camera spins around you see the 6 EXO-M members. During this time there were 12 members in EXO and you see all 12 member in this MV. You are watching the EXO-K version of the song so you see the EXO-K members featured first. If you watch the EXO-M version you will see the EXO-M members featured more prominently. When EXO debuted they had 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups. EXO-K, which sang their songs in Korean and promoted in Korea, and EXO-M, which sang those same songs in Mandarin Chinese and promoted in China. EXO-K was made up of 6 Korean members (Suho, Baekhyun, D.O, Chanyeol Kai, and Sehun); and EXO- M was made up of 4 Chinese members (Kris, Luhan, Tao and Lay) and 2 Korean members (Xiumin and Chen -- as you can see Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) and Chen (Kim JongDae) were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in with the Chinese group.) However, in 2014 Kris and Luhan left the group and Tao left in 2015. So now EXO has 9 members.
However, what is even more impressive is the fact that they also filmed a Mandarin version of this song and MV, so not only did they have to perfect the dance in the Korean version, but they also had to do it again in the Mandarin version. And the Mandarin version isn't exactly the same, because the EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) and EXO-K (Korean) members had different parts in each of the MVs, so that just adds another element to this. You should also check out the Mandarin version to see the differences. All of EXO's MVs have both a Korean and a Mandarin version and each of the MVs are slightly different. So its worth checking out both versions. Plus, this will give you a chance to hear what the songs sound like in both Korean and Mandarin.
EXO actually filmed 5 or 6 different MVs for the song "Growl." As you probably noticed when you searched for this video, they have a Korean performance version, which is the version you watched; an EXO-M Mandarin Chinese version; an EXO-K 2nd version and an EXO-M 2nd version, which are more like traditional MVs with a little more of a storyline; and they also have a drama version that combines their two songs "Growl" and "Wolf" and its like a mini K-drama that is more like a movie or TV show with a complete story and the members playing characters. Plus, there are several iconic live performances.
You need to look up the lyrics to Growl to really understand the song, but pretty much they are saying "Girl stop tempting me, you are so sexy and beautiful that you make me want to Growl." You are mine." "Girl you take my breath away and make it so I can't control myself." "When you are near, all I can see is you." etc. It's kind of about love at first sight.
EXO got so good at this choreography that they were able to perform the whole thing live on award shows and music programs just like they did in the MV. You should check out their Beauty and Beast performance at the 2013 MAMA Awards to see how impressive they perform "Growl" live. th-cam.com/video/ycql_T6Fc9c/w-d-xo.html "Growl" and this one take performance is what launched EXO into super stardom and its what made them the most popular group in Korea. In "Call Me Baby" you will see there are only 10 members.This was the first MV after 2 of their Chinese members left (Kris and Luhan) and this was the last MV were we see Tao, the third Chinese member that left the group. Tao left the group shortly after this.
In the beginning when they had 12 members they produced all their songs in both Korean and Mandarin and they learned all the lyrics in both Korean and Mandarin. But after the Chinese members left, they they no longer had enough EXO-M members to promote on their own so they officially combined the groups into one with 9 members. Now that they no longer promote as the two separate groups, they now only produce their main tracks in both Korean and Mandarin and EVERY MV will have a Korean version and a Mandarin version, which will be shot as two individual MVs. All the members learn the lyrics in Mandarin for their Mandarin versions of their songs and they all work really hard to make sure their pronunciation is perfect in any language they perform in.
You should also check out the EXO-M Mandarin Chinese version of "Call Me Baby." If you watch the two MVs side by side, you will see that the members that are featured in each part are different and even in the dances where you think "it's the same" there are different members doing different parts. Their MVs may be similar, but that's only because they filmed the MV twice and deliberately made the scenes look the same. Also if you really pay attention, the scenes may look the same, but the members who sing the parts are different depending on the version that you watch. In the Mandarin version you will see the EXO-M members featured more (Lay, Xiumin, Chen and Tao) and they sing the main parts, and in the Korean version the EXO-K members (D.O., Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Sehun, Suho and Kai) sing those same parts. The scenes may look the same, but the singers are different. In the Mandarin version a lot of the main parts where sung by Lay but in the Korean version D.O sings those parts and in the Mandarin version the rap was done by Tao and Xiumin, where in the Korean version its Chanyeol and Sehun, etc.
Exo debuted with 12 members, with 8 korean members and 4 chinese. Exo-k consists of 6 members who sing in korean ans exo-m has 6 members who sings in mandarin. Exok promotes in korea and exom promotes in china.

Even as an international fan, I found myself amazed at EXO's talent, story, and overall concept as soon as MAMA came out. I kept an eye on them since and really became a fan a few years later. It was mindblowing for the time - although it took a while for people to get into them since they were different from other groups at the time. They've struggled and had their ups and downs, but they are one of the most popular groups today thanks to their hard work. The guy whose voice you seem to love is Kyungsoo (stage name is D.O.). He's an accomplished actor and an incredibly talented vocalist. He's currently in the military with the eldest member - Xiumin (my bias). SM's groups are overall just so amazing. Shinee, NCT, Red Velvet, SNSD, TVXQ... not to mention the solo artists. The list is too big to include. I may not like the company much but the artists are fantastic.

Did you know that in Korean MAMA is a term they use to address a leader or King or queen? Its a term of reverence and respect. It's similar to saying "Your majesty." If you watch very many historical Korean dramas you will hear the characters call the royal family and especially the head of the royal family or leader "Mama." So in this song they are speaking to the leader or deity who sent them to Earth, essentially asking, "Now that I'm here, Your Majesty what should I do? How do I fulfill what you have sent me to do? etc."
To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and It is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept. So to really understand EXO you really need to start from the very beginning and watch both of their "Mama" MVs. From the very beginning, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one if not all of them using their powers.
Now that you have seen the EXO-K version of "Mama" you really need to watch the EXO-M version. its important you know EXO's story and really pay attention to the introduction of this MV and the whole story in this MV to understand everything that happens from now on in all the rest of EXO's MVs. Every MV and everything EXO does is connected.
Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary.The groups concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents. EXO's concept is also connected to real life planetary and solar events so all of EXO's comebacks and new song releases for the main group of EXO are all connected to when eclipses and other planetary phenomenons take place. For example, their "War" album and "Power" album release and comeback coincided with when we had a solar eclipse, etc. SM Entertainment has all their release dates and concepts planned out for years and it all has something to do with real celestial events that are predicted to take place.
In order to really understand EXO, you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch both the K and the M version of "MAMA," because even though both the K and M versions of "Mama" feature all 12 of the members, the K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the M version focuses on the M members and their powers. If you don't watch both you have a very incomplete story of what makes EXO so special.
However, since then 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 of the members. Kris and Luhan left in 2014 and Tao left in 2015.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce all their main track songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members.
So not only does EXO have amazing MVs, but its always double because any time they have a Korean version they also will have a Mandarin version so it means they have to shoot two separate videos..Their fandom name is EXO-L because L falls right between K and M and it stands for Love. 😍Get it? EXO-K, EXO-L, EXO-M (K-L-M in the alphabet)
In the EXO-K version of "Mama" (The version you just watched) the members are using their powers to search for and meet up with the EXO-M members. That is why you see the K members traveling to find the M member. For example, you see Kai using his power of teleportation as he searches for the M members and you see Baekhyun use his power of light and Suho with his power of water, Chanyeol with the power of fire using his Phoenix wings, D.O. with the power of earth and strength and Sehun controlling the wind. Because Xiumin is one of the two Korean members of EXO-M, you see him appear in the mirror because the K members are searching for him and he is being summoned, etc. As the story goes, when EXO arrived on Earth they did not all arrive together. Their story starts out that they were dropped on Earth in different locations all over the world and they have to search for each other and meet up, kind of like in a quest, before they can begin to figure out how to accomplish the tasks they have been sent to Earth to do.
If you want to see the EXO-M members and their story and superpowers you need to watch the EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) version of "Mama" The M version will feature the EXO M members such as Xiumin, Chen, Lay, Kris, Luhan and Tao and they will be the ones singing the main parts of the song. You only see small clips of the M members in the Korean version because this is EXO-Ks version of the song and MV. But in the Chinese version the story continues and EXO-M members are the ones that sing and dance. You have to see both MVs to understand the full story.
Each member in EXO-K also has a counterpart in EXO-M that fills the same role in each group. For example, D.O. is the main vocalist in EXO-K and Chen is the main vocalist in EXO-M; Baekhyun is the second main vocalist in K and Luhan was the second main vocalist in M; Chanyeol is the main rapper in K and Kris was the main rapper in M; Sehun is the lead rapper in K and Xiumin is the lead rapper in M; Kai is the main dancer in K and Lay is the main dancer in M; and then its Suho is a lead vocalist in K and Tao was a rapper/vocalist in M (I'm not sure how these two really work together because Tao is more of a rapper and Suho is a vocalist, but because they are the last two they are put together.)
The tattoos on Kai's face and body say EXO and also all of the EXO member's names, or at least the 6 EXO-K members names, as well as EXO's symbol and other hidden clues to EXO's origin story.
Now that you have seen "Mama" and are starting to understand EXO's backstory, if you watch any of their other MVs, such as their "Power" MV, it should make more sense to you. if you keep in mind all the details about them being aliens with superpowers and how they are on a mission, etc. The "Power" MV is all about how the Red Forces stole EXO's powers and they had to fight the robot, which was under the Red Forces control, to get their powers back. And once they got their powers back they were then sent to Earth. The one thing you have to keep in mind with all of EXO's MVs, and I really mean all of them (including EXO-CBX MVs and even most of Lay's solo MVs), is that they are all connected and they all tell a little more of EXO's story and why they are on Earth, etc.
Understanding "Mama' should also help you understand their "Ko Ko Bop" MV better as well. ("Ko Ko Bop" is supposed to be about them just arriving on Earth and learning to master their powers.) Some theories even connect the story in their "Lucky One" MV to the story in "Ko Ko Bop". In "Lucky One" EXO has been captured by the the Red Forces and they are doing experiments on EXO to try and figure out what makes them special in an effort to stop EXO from finding and protecting the Tree of Life.. In "Lucky One" the EXO members use their powers to escape the facility. So some theories say that the story in "Ko Ko Bop" is EXO trying to detox from the drugs they were given in the government facility and the blue Ko Ko Bop drink Shuo mixes and the members drink is to counteract the effects of the drugs in their system. That is why the members act so out of it and in a drugged state in "Ko Ko Bop."
Unfortunately,, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together.
To help you pinpoint the powers being used in their MVs here is a list of the members and what their special power is.
EXO-K
Suho: water (Fun fact: did you know that Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO? That's why as the leader of EXO, Kim Jun Myeo's stage name is Suho)
Baekhyun: Light
Chanyeol: fire
D.O: earth (dirt) which gives him strength/force
Kai : teleportation
Sehun : Wind
EXO-M
Xiumin: snow/ice (frost)
Lay: healing
Chen: thunder/lightning/electricity
(As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese group)
The Chinese members that are no longer part of the group:
Kris: Flight (He was the leader of EXO-M when they used to promote as two separate groups.)
Luhan: telekinesis (control things with his mind)
Tao: Controlling time (He is the martial artist of the group so he is the one that did the tricks and flips in their performances.).
Also did you notice, the monster mv is backwards? Like how the fire is moving downwards instead of upwards and the time turning backwards

If you want to understand the story in EXO's "Love Shot" MV it might be easier if you just look up a theory video or go to a fan site where it explains the theories behind what and why things are happening in the MV,. Because out of all of EXO's MVs, "Love Shot" snf "Tempo" -- EXO's two most recent MVs -- have so much going on that you probably won't even understand unless you take the time to get to know the complete backstory behind it all. The story behind what is happening in "Love Shot" and "Tempo" is so complex that I don't even think I have enough room in one comment box to explain everything I KNOW and that's only a small part of the story. I am sure there is tons that I am missing as well. :D
As with most of EXO's songs and MVs, the song and the story in the MV are two separate things. There are two messages that the story tells in the MV. Yes the lyrics are loosely based on the story in the MV, but the main point of the MV is mostly to tell another part of EXO's story and to help explain what they are doing here on Earth as part of their mission.
In "Love Shot" I'm not sure why they first ended up at the service station or the cinema, but the story in this MV is all about how the Red Force is trying to corrupt and control them. You really need to look up fan theory's of this MV to understand what is happening in "Love Shot" because, for example, supposedly, most fans agree, that Xiumin may have been captured and cloned by the Red Force. If you notice Xiumin is squaring off with someone in a mask, when the mask is removed you see that that person is Xiumin. And when Baekhyun is sitting in the theater watching the film, you see what fans agree is probably Suho, the leader, trying to protect the members and prevent Baekhyun from watching the film which is thought to probably be the Red Force trying to control EXO, etc. They are fighting to discover who has been corrupted by the Red Force and who may not be who they say they are, etc. so they are very suspicious pointing their guns, which are filled with alcohol at each other. This whole MV is part of EXO's origin story and it is a big part of their storyline which is all about how they are trying to battle against the Red Force, etc.
The story in their "Love Shot" MV is pretty complex and hard to understand unless you understand EXO's backstory and what lead up to everything that has happened in EXO's storyline so far. The flowers have two purposes, one is they represent Love and EXO is collecting love, but also the flowers are a big part of EXO's storyline and how the flower theme has been continued throughout all of EXO's MVs. The flowers are thought be be something that EXO is collecting and trying to get rid of to prevent the Red Force from being able to control people, etc. As one of the lines in their "Monster" song says, "We don't need no money." EXO doesn't need the money so they aren't robbing banks for money, but they are stealing the flowers for a later, unknown purpose we have yet to figure out. Some of what happens in this story is explained by past MVs and will also hopefully be explained as the story continues in future MVs.
But you should also know that no one really knows for sure what is happening in any of EXO's MVs. There are well known theories and storylines that are accepted within the fandom which we think might explain what is happening in each MV. And there are theories about how each MV is connected and where each falls within their larger storyline,, but nothing is set in stone. It's all just fan theories. Everything that has to do with EXO is just one big mystery that SM has been crafting since the group's conception and its our job as fans to try and piece it all together. We only hope that someday SM will reveal what it all means so we know whether our theories were any where close to being correct. So far, its been 7 years, and we still have no idea where the next MV will take us.

As the English lyrics in "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy,." The song's called "Monster" so the words are about acting like a Monster "Don't be afraid love is the way... i'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo." LOL So the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think was -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- them using their powers.
However, the lyrics of the song really have very little to do with the story in the MV. "Monster" is one example where if you want to know what the song and lyrics are about you should watch an English lyric video. Because the lyrics in the song tell a different story than the story in the MV. In the song the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. So ... "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... you can call me Monster ... because I'm creeping in your heart babe." The song is about possessing a girl and using her up and throwing her away in the end, but the MV really is about EXO's origin story and about the fact that they are aliens from Plant Exo and they are searching for clues to help them on their quest to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces.
Some say the "girl" that EXO is always singing about and you sometimes see in their MVs is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life and that is why the members are always rescuing or protecting the girl, etc. And why all their songs are about being in love with a girl or being controlled by the power of the girl, such as in "Overdose" for example. Or how they talk about knowing they are bad news for the girl but they want her anyway and they can't help it, but in the end they know they might destroy her -- as they say in "Monster," etc. etc. When you think of the girl as the heart of the Tree of Life, you begin to see even more parallels to EXO's story and even more ways to connect even more of it all together.
Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so when/if you watch the dance practice and/or the live performances really pay attention to the choreography so you can find the parts where they use their powers. For example: when D.O. makes a gesture with his arms all the members are pulled toward him or pushed away from him because he is using his power of force/strength; when Xiumin moves across in front of the rest of the members you will see them all pause as if frozen because he used his power of frost/ice; and when Sehun stands in the middle of the group the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm because Sehun controls wind, etc. This is one of the best examples of how EXO continues their concept and story in everything they do, including in their choreography. Everything, down to the most minute detail, is expertly thought out and planned to always stick to their concept and story.
Also, I think their next MV for their song "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster" so when/if you watch "Lotto", just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is going to take place after the events in "Lotto", and both MVs might make a little more sense to you then.
I'm not positive how "Monster" and "Lotto" tie in to EXOs larger storyline. But I do know, and am almost positive, that "Lotto" is the prequel to "Monster." So if you pay attention I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are maybe sort of undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys (maybe members of the Red Force.) "Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Forces or the bad guys, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So that's why you see in "Lotto" and continued in "Monster" the members are fighting against the FBI or police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. For some reason the members of EXO don't want to be discovered so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. But in the end, as you see in "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape before they are taken to jail and/or are captured by the Red Forces, etc.
As you can see all of the stories in EXO's MVs are connected. All of EXO's MVs and storylines from everything EXO has ever been involved in are connected, including EXO-CBX MVs and many of the members' solo MVs, and it all tells a little more of EXO's story. We just have to pay close attention to every detail and put the pieces together. EXO's MVs are all like one continues drama or mystery. You will never understand anything about EXO's MVs until you first understand EXO's origin story. As with everything EXO does, you have to keep in mind that the whole concept of the group is that they are supposed to be aliens from Planet Exo and they came to Earth on a mission. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and they have been sent to Earth to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces.

The rapper name with the deepest voice is Chanyeol. He can sing, rap, compose and write music and play every kind of music instrument. He and the other rapper, Sehun, recently debuted in a sub unit EXO-SC with a mini album What A life. They have 3 mvs "What a life","Just is 2" and "Closer to you". They participated in the lyrics of every song and Chanyeol and his produce team Loey, composed and arranged "Rollercoaster" and "Daydreamin'" which in my opinion are their best songs.
The guy you liked the voice, is one of the main Vocalist, his name is Do KyungSoo. His stage name is D.O. he has a station song, 2 OST and I 5hink is 3 collaboration songs. He is a excellent actor, his drama 100 days my prince is amazing. He won many awards as an actor. He has many movies as well. Currently he is serving in the military so he won't be back with exo until 2021, if my maths don't betray me. Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) our eldest member is as well in the military and will be back around 1 or 2 months before D.O.
There are rumours that we will get a new comeback soon we are all exo-Ls crossing our fingers to be true. Sadly it will be with only 6 members, because, Lay (the only Chinese member currently in exo) at cause of political conflicts between South Korea and China is unavailable to participate in many things, and also he has a Solo carrier with many Albums, including 1 entirely in English

Yes back in the debut days they were 12 members in the squad but Kris Luhan and Tao (3 chinese left the group and company due to mistreating and non equality about incomes compare to Korean members) now Lay is the only last Chinese member who still active in the group belong the other 8 Koreans

"i feel like they spent their whole life in the dance room" that's pretty accurate honestly xD K-Pop idols have to train for years before they can actually debut. Teenagers and pre teens join entertainment companies like SM and are called "trainees" while they train. they get vocal , dance and singing lessons, have to work out and diet, sometimes get surgery and learn how to behave as an idol. If they're good enough and strong enough to endure all of this, they get to debut. A member of NCT, also a boy group under SM, once said "We're the ones who made it". Being an idol/trainee is extremely hard, you work pretty much 24/7

EXO has been trained hard. They sang while they're on a treadmill. In live shows, they sound like they're lip syncing but they can really sing live and they sound good! Rappers can sing and singers can also rap. Their harmonizations are 💯
I would like to add too that Growl is what made EXO big in Korea and up until now, it is still used as confession to someone you like, especially in North Korea. Their achievements are what made them Kpop Representative, Nation's Pick and Ambassador of Tourism in Korea. They are being brought along when the SoKor president meets with big names in politics, recently was with Trump.
EXO don't have plans on promoting outside Asia. Their plan is just to enter Korea and China market by releasing both Korean and Chinese versions of their songs. Right now, they also have Japanese versions. Imagine if they promote in the west?
