That’s what you call huge, there will never be another band like them, moment in time, loved the atitude of the 90’s no one got offended and everyone lived in the moment and enjoyed themselves, not a smartphone in sight
Those were the days. As Noel says in Supersonic - it was the last great event before the Internet really started to take over. Everyone, just present in the moment - no mobile phones in front of people's faces, recording every song, no getting ripped off by some bot online, grabbing all the tickets. Rock n Roll - let's 'av it.
It was only around 10 years later that people started filming nights out on their phones. Facebook only started getting big in ‘06/‘07. Even TH-cam only started around the same time. The technology actually wasn’t that different in the early 00’s, the internet wasn’t super fast broadband speeds, websites were still basic. The overall vibe in popular culture was definitely much more innocent in the mid 90’s though, this was like a communal scene. I remember Artic Monkeys became pretty massive in the mid 00’s playing big gigs but nothing like this.
I was there on the Saturday and i was 20, £22.50 for a ticket. For that we got. Bootleg beatles, chemical bros, Ocean Color Scene, manics, prodigy and oasis..yep let that sink in.... all for £22.50. it was a night to remember. For those that understand no explanation is needed for those that dont no explanation is possible
@@Two_Seat_Pete_FatA55no, Oasis had far bigger demand and could have put on several more nights. Secondly, Oasis sold more....Karaoke William's was nowhere near the height of this mania.
@theycantallbezodiac williams could've put on several nights too. Also williams has sold 20.6 million albums in the UK. Oasis have sold 16.4 million in the UK. Both have sold similar worldwide. I know a lot of people on here will find it hard to believe but the DJ Sean Rowley, who is on at 5.39 , is a former Met Officer. He and i both did our Met PTI course in 1983 together. To say that my jaw dropped when i saw him on here, is an understatement. Well done Sean, getting out and getting on

Woke up on a Saturday morning, met up with a few friends. Friend of a friend of a friend had a ticket but was unable to go. So I said "I'll take it", 20 quid. So, I ended up going to the Saturday gig. Not really an Oasis fan (I was more keen on some of he support acts tbh) but it was a long, fun, but way, way, way to crowded day out.
The DJ bloke was right. In 1996 they were the best British band for 20 years since the Sex Pistols started in 1976.When i left school in 1982 theyre was effing nothing.Wish there was a band like this that started up then.Oasis were huge and the reunion has made them even bigger.
In retrospect, Knebworth came too early. I mean, they released their debut album just 2 years earlier. Fast rise but the hype was quickly over even though things continued to go well for years
